113. (in relation to question 10) What decision in the main universe did the alternate dimension branch off of?

213. Well, if Tarduk never made a second trip, then wouldn't that be the starting point, which resulted in Mata Nui bringing Ackar and Kiina for some reason or another?

313) A more logical starting point would be this. At some time during the events of TLR, Mata Nui meets Tarduk. He hears the story of Tarduk's jounrey, and also learns that Tarduk wants to go back a second time. Mata Nui talks Tarduk out of going, but realizing just how many dangers there are on the journey, resolves that he will not go alone but will bring allies with him (assuming they win the fight with the Skrall).

4Wouldn't the original breaking off point be that the EL's never escaped from the Valley of the Maze? Because in RotGB, Surel says that the EL's "were trapped." I'd imagine that meant that they were trapped in the Valley of the Maze, but escaped. However, in this Bionicle 5, the EL's remain trapped.
5So I'd say that the EL's remain in the Valley of the Maze, causing Tarduk and gang to never run into them. Despite that, they still don't enter the Valley of the Maze (probably went through Spirit's Wish). Due to them returning earlier/later than they do in the main universe, Tarduk runs into Mata Nui during the events of TLR and tells him of his journey, just like Greg said in the above quote.

1I honestly don't think we would have. He had more important things to do. If I had to take over a giant robot, I wouldn't stop to help them.

2He did stop to say good bye, and it makes sense that if a giant robot is coming to kill all the inhabitants of a planet (or to slave them), you give them something for them to defend themselves

1hey greg.

2as you obviously noticed, there's been a real fad about the next new element.
3in the large lists that i have seen, many are nonsense, some are possible but immoral (acid is IMO immoral and would be equivalent to being a toa of shadow).
4there is one that deserves attention.
5Kinetics. Kinetic energy is the result of an object with mass in motion. or well, particles in motion.

6the idea is the following. a toa of Kinetics can alter the "speed" of objects, but naturally this would require boundaries.

7my concern however is, that Kinetic energy applies on all levels. even tiny subatomic particles have kinetic energy. a toa of kinetics would be IMO invincible, as anything thrown is stopped, anything shot is stopped, fireballs, iceshards, even lightning itself.
8fire has a lot of motion. and kinetic energy. "molecules" moving, reacting, releasing heat and then moving away. a toa of kinetics could stop that.

9heat is motion of particles. a toa of kinetics could control temperature.

10and this all is heading the same way.
11IMO, Kinetics should (if ever accepted) be Legendary. like Time and Life. life requires motion, and life creates motion. time alters the speed of motion. and vice versa. it's immensely powerful, and IMO far too powerful to be a normal element.

12giving it many boundaries would make the power moot, then all you need is a Mask Of Speed which works on other objects instead of yourself.

13some believe Gravity is legendary as it can control time, but in order to significantly change time, you need a lot of gravity. so much, everything is torn apart regardless.

14so, my real question is, what is your thought on this?

15I'm already in discussion of kinetics with a few other members, thanks.

110. Can you give us your opinion on how the new BIONICLE sets coming in 2010 compare to the current ones, or have you not seen them yet? 2ANSWER: I don't consider myself the best person to ask this of. First of all, I work for LEGO, so you know I am only going to say positive things about new sets. Secondly, I only pay attention to sets as much as I need to for story.

1Mr. Farshtey,
2Since everyone's now making mad dashes to get everything confirmed, I figured I might at least propose an idea for the colour scheme of Matoran/Toa/Turaga of the Iron element. My thinking is that Iron should be primarily a metallic grey, with a small amount of burnt orange as a secondary colour.
3Metallic grey would be obvious for a Toa of Iron, and burnt orange would symbolise rust. It wouldn't be all too hard to MOC, seeing that most sets these days have some sort of grey in them. People who own either of the Hewkii sets from the first arc would also be able to add in some burnt orange.
4Thanks for your time, 5-Kiotu

6I think that's a fine idea.

1just got this back. is this new?
2QUOTE 3Hi, Mr. Farshtey, I have a couple questions about the Glatorian. 41.) I read on Bs01 that Tarix quote: After the disaster, Tarix helped design the new social system along with Certavus, Ackar, and Vastus, and he was appointed as the Prime Glatorian of the village of Tajun. Many veterans spoke out against the system, and in response, Tarix wrote the Glatorian Creed, which fully explained the need for the system, and detailed the rules of combat.
5From the beginning, Tarix remained firmly in the top four Glatorian, but he did not win any championships in the first few thousand years. Following Certavus' death, Tarix, Ackar, and Vastus became the best in their field, and were always fighting for the title in Arena Magna. Tarix eventually set the record for consecutive Great Tournament victories, winning the championship 93 times in a row. 6end quote. Is this true?
72.) I read that Ackar was first glatorian is this true?
83.) Who holds the record for the most championships?
9Thanks in advance, Glatorian-of-the-SJS-tribe.
101) Yes, it is. Comes from the Mata Nui Guide. 112) Ackar is the oldest active Glatorian (in terms of age), I don't recall him being the very first. 123) Don't know off the top of my head

1Here are a few specifics on the nature of Makuta Powers:
2Hello Greg,
3I'd like to have some specifics on the Makuta's shattering/fragmentation and disintegration powers. Namely, do they require physical contact? Would it be possible, for example for a Makuta to send a bolt of "fragmentation energy" at an object or person?
4I would also like to know how exactly the accuracy power works. Would it still hit its target if the target, say, used a Kualsi to teleport to a different location? What if the target had a physical shield around it? Or an energy shield, such as one created by a Hau?
5And lastly, would it be possible for a Makuta to apply his/her power of accuracy to disintegration or fragmentation?
6Thanks, 7Yukiko

81) No, they do not need to make physical contact 92) No, accuracy only allows you to hit your target, it does not give your missile the ability to teleport or to penetrate shields unless it is already moving fast enough to penetrate the shield. All accuracy does is let you hit what you are aiming at -- if the person throws a shield up in front of them, you will then hit the shield. 103) No.

11Would you mind clarifying you answer to the first question? Does the makuta just have to look at something and it explodes, or do they need an energy bolt that transfers their power to actually hit something?

12It actually is a form of energy being used, but it can be used over range

13So they can just look at somebody and they'll kersplode, or do they have to collect the energy, shoot it and actually hit the person?
14And if accuracy is not applicable to forms of energy such as disintegration/fragmentation, what is it applicable to? Other types of energy? Weapons? Or only physical objects?
15I'm sorry if I'm nitpicking, but I really do want some specifics.

161) You actually have to aim and hit 172) Physical objects and weapons. If I shoot a laser at you, I can use my accuracy power to hit you, because I am aiming it. If I am a Toa of Ice and wearing a Mask of Accuracy, I can make the ice bolt I hurl have a better chance of hitting you.

1<Hello, Mr. Farshtey. Aximili here.
2I just received All that Glitters and some things about the Prototype confused me, such as...
31) How did Mata Nui's Spirit transfer to the Prototype?
42) If the Prototype was made "just to see if it could be done," why did it have weapon systems and 5external gravitational stabilizers?
63) And... in all previous media, the Prototype had a head like the Mata, but in this one comic, its 7face resembled the Mask of Elemental Energy. What's Up?>

8~Thank you for your time. Ax

91) He willed it to do so, same way Makuta can will his spirit to possess something, like the Maxilos robot 102) Well, they wanted it to work well, right? If you were building a MINDSTORMS robot just to see if it could be done, you would still make one that could actually do something, right? 113) You would need to ask the comic artist that. Not my area.

1Hello, Greg .
2As the title implies, I have some questions.
31. Now first I would like you to know that I am not asking you to reveal this; rather, this is just something I had to ask. So we all know that only you and Ancient, the latter of whom is dead, know The Shadowed One's true name. If only you currently know it, and we all know that he does have a name, what's the use of keeping it secret?
42. Are you proud of any of your BIONICLE-related works in particular (besides Time Trap)?
53. If a person carrying a shield went near a baterra, would the baterra attack the shield-carrier? Because last time I checked people didn't use shields as weapons...
64. Would a Toa of Fire be able to cool lava? Because Toa of Fire control heat. We do, of cource, know that fire and lava are two seperate things.
75. A mask can be molded into the shape of any mask, right (for example, Norik's mask was shaped like a Kiril, when it was really a Mask of Diminishment)?
86. Do you like video games and, on that note, do you have any gaming systems?
97. Is the January comic the last one in the BIONICLE franchise?
108. What's Gali doing right now?
11Thanks. You're work is greatly appreciated.
12--Tahu
131) Two reasons. One, TSO is the only one who knows it and has no reason to reveal it, so why would it ever be used in story? And two, the last time BZPers said they wanted to hear a name, they proceeded to act like all of BIONICLE had been ruined because they didn't like the name. Why should I put myself through that again, if I have no story need to do so? 142) I'm proud of all of them 153) You have obviously never read Captain America, who uses his shield as a weapon all the time 164) Yes 175) Yes, same as you could make a Stop sign that is triangular and yellow if you wanted 186) I have a PS3, but I don't use it all that much. I mainly play Warcraft on the PC 197) No, March is 208) Don't recall off the top of my head

21Hm... upon reading question five, I had an idea...

1Hello again Greg,
2Just one question today. You have said that: 3a)Mata Nui quickly made MU inhabitants able to communicate with Bara Magnans. 4b)you didn't think it was logical for Mata Nui to stop his progress to grant powers to Perditus and Gelu when he was trying to reach the robot, but you would consider it, and 5c) the Ignika is in Mata Nui's new robot body's head.
6Now, I have come up with a unifying explanation that ties together a) and B) using c). My theory is that perhaps the Ignika and Mata Nui worked in tandem, fusing their powers together to produce a sort of shockwave that affected the Bara Magna residents. This "blast" allowed the Glatorian and Agori to comprehend the Matoran language and (for those that hadn't had this happen previously) allowed them to tap in to their elemental powers.
7Now, is this an acceptable explanation?
8And also, I thought this might make up for the S@H folly. Obviously we will not see the Skrall use shadow powers, because you say they don't get them. However, we know that although the elemental powers of the Glatorian come from themselves, they need (or think they need) their weapons to yield it. They also believe it is because the weapons are partially organic. The Skrall's sword are not necessarily organic. So is it possible to say that they were granted elemental powers, but because their weapons did not allow them to use it? This could allow them to utilize shadow powers in future story.

91) No need to get so complicated. Mata Nui does not need the Ignika to do this, and when he is in the robot, he is busy fighting Makuta -- why waste energy gifting elemental powers to people who will not be able to help stop Makuta? 102) The Skrall were not granted elemental powers. Period. I don't have any responsibility to fit catalog copy issues into story.

1Hello, Mr. Farshtey. This is the first time I'm asking you questions. I hope you're doing well. You've been a great author and made the BIONICLE universe more complex and interesting than it has ever been. Thank you for that .
2And now for my first questions ever:
31) Is the "Makuta" in "Brotherhood of Makuta" plural? 42) Could the Skakdi language be described as having lots of consonants (since all of the known Skakdi's names, and the names "Irnakk" and "Skakdi", have)? 53) Does "Irnakk" mean something in the Skakdi language or is it just a name? 64) In All That Glitters..., when Mata Nui told Teridax he's nothing, was that a reference to the Mata Nui Online Game? 75) I don't know if this is true, but sometime last year I read that the concept of Kanohi would be dealt with in 2009. It was, if I remember right, an official BZP topic. Was this concept supposed to be dealt with, and if it was, what happened to it?
8Thank you in advance.

91) Singular and plural, because there used to be more Makuta. 102) I guess, haven't thought about it 113) Translated, it would be equivalent to the "boogeyman" in our language 124) Nope. 135) No, I am not sure where you read that. They don't have Kanohi in Bara Magna, so there would really have been no way to address the issue in main story. We already have explained all about how Kanohi are created, etc., back in 2004 story.

141) I asked this for translation purposes, since in Finnish plurals are usually marked even if the English equilavents aren't. I meant that did the "Makuta" refer to the leader of BoM or its members? I suppose it's the latter, which would make it plural. Correct?
15Again, thanks in advance. :)

16Correct, VT

17My comments:
181) You know, we here in Finland have always said it as singular (sort of "Brotherhood of [a] Makuta"), not as plural ("Brotherhood of [many] Makuta"). I once had a doubt about that being right so I decided to ask. This really causes some changes over here. 192) "Yes" would've been better, but it's good that the answer was positive. 203) That was funny... 214) Disappointment. 225) Yeah, I wasn't sure at all.

23First off, I'm going to say kudos to your knowledge of English. It doesn't look like it's your first language, yet you are better at it than many people I know who DO have it as a first language.
24Anyway, the BoM thing was surprising. I always assumed it was singular, for some reason.

1He could have given Gelu and Perditus elemental powers to better defend themselves against Makuta and his forces. I would think he would take such an opportunity to protect his friends. You're probably better off if you can protect yourself with fire or ice as opposed to defending yourself with a sword and a piece of fruit. Besides, it wouldn't have taken but a few seconds out of his progress. Although, what would Perditus channel his fire powers through? The Thornatus? That would be awesome...

1Comic questions:
21) Since it was Makuta's destiny to help Mata Nui reunite Spherus Magna, then the GBs intended for Makuta to put Mata Nui to sleep, for Mata Nui to die, for Mata Nui to be resurrected, and for Makuta to take over, right? 32) This means the prototype robot wasn't really a prototype, was it? The GBs should have at least been a bit more practical. 43) Once their destiny is complete, what will happen to Mata Nui and Makuta? 54) How does the alternate Spherus Magna universe make sense if Makuta never became evil? Mata Nui could have never reunited Spherus Magna alone, right? 65) Since the Toa Nuva's destiny is to reawaken Mata Nui in time of need, when Mata Nui completes his destiny, the Toa Nuva can turn into Turaga, correct? Would they essentially be "Turaga Nuva"?
7Thanks.

81) Nope. It is possible to achieve your destiny by multiple paths. In this case, Makuta did what he was supposed to do, but went about it in the wrong way. 92) Yes, it was. The second robot was never intended for use by Mata Nui. 103) Follow the story and find out 114) Or Makuta could have helped the way he was originally intended to, as opposed to rebelling and being destructive. 125) They could turn into Turaga whenever they chose to, but they do not choose to. And if they never choose to give up their Toa power, then they will never become Turaga.

1Hey GregF, I got a few questions for you.
21.Can you now reveal the voice that told Lewa to reach the sundial? 32. Is it possible that the Great Beings can modify their own bodies? 43. I had a thought here, but since Angonce had a lot is interest in the Matoran, is it possible that it was his idea to make the MU inhabitants based on the SM inhabitants? 54. Is it possible that the Makuta were based on the Great Beings themselves? Aside from the many powers, they did share similar roles to their respective worlds. 65. There was an old idea back in the early stages of Bionicle. It was that Onua was the oldest of the Toa Mata, while Lewa was the youngest. The idea was scrapped, but I have a way of bringing it back to the storyline, to a certain degree. When Artakha was building the Mata, he built and put together Onua first, and Lewa last. This way, Onua could be considered the "oldest", and Lewa could be considered the "youngest". Can this explanation be considered canon?
7Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas.

81) No, not yet 92) I can't discuss this. I am still not allowed to go into the nature of the Great Beings. 103) Do we know Angonce had a lot of interest in the Matoran? 114) I don't believe so, no 125) I have no interest in bringing that back into story. It was scrapped because we felt the whole thing didn't work, and that hasn't changed. I don't want to retcon nine years of story.

1Hey Greg 2As you may remember, when TLR first came out you where bombarded with questions regarding if Gelu or Perditus had gotten elemental power. Mata nui, during the time he stayed with the agori and the glatorian, never actually had the time to meet them, considering that after the events of the movie he left to the Valley of the Maze. Now, in theb latest comic, we can see he returned safely to the mega-city, where the aformentioned Gelu and Perditus where residing, the comic later implies that Mata Nui said his good-byes to friends and villagers. 3So, my question is: 4Did Mata Nui grant elemental powers to Gelu and/or Perditus when he returned? 5Please? It would make many people happy, considering we don't have Ice-powered glatorian.
6Thank you 7Mosqueton

8Let me think about it. I have to decide if it makes sense that he would take the time to do that, given the imminent threat to the planet.

9Thanks, I have some backup to why he could of done it: 10Mata Nui knows Makuta and his body, therefore he knows Teridax is not going to destroy the planet, but to try and take control of it, so it would make sense he gave power to the glatorians in case he failed to either defeat Terry, or was unable to take control of the prototype, see it like this, If you know that a whole planet depends on you, and you know you don't have much of a chance against the threat, you'll at least give the villagers something to protct themselves.
11Thanks again 12Mosquueton

13Except that an elementally powered Glatorian will last all of four seconds against Teridax in MN'd old body.

1It is said on BIOsector01 that the Glatorian that Malum attempted to kill was Strakk. However, when I was reading the Crossing, I found that Strakk considered the only Glatorian he was "in good relations with" to be Malum, and when it came to the subject of Malum's crime, he thought that "it only told how nobody knew how a Glatorian's life worked". It never says that Strakk was the Glatorian that Malum tried to kill, or that he even holds any resentment for the Fire Glatorian. Why is this?
2-Kagha

3All Malum did was something Strakk would do if he thought he could get away with it (which indeed he later did). And the fact that Strakk imagined himself to have some relationship with Malum does not mean Malum had any use for him at all. They certainly didn't come across as pals in the story to me.

4No idea if this has already been answered.

10thanks lord of ice

111) Only the Stars characters 122) I don't really have one 133) No 144) No 155) Malum has anger management issues. I don't consider him evil, after all, he helped Ackar against the Bone Hunters 166) No. Teridax doesn't need anyone from Bara Magna to "side" with him. 177) Minor in the first half, and I don't know about the second half 188) No. New book focuses mainly on the Stars and on Mata Nui and Makuta.

19You know... "Malum" means "evil" in Latin. Oh yeah it can also mean "apple".

20It also means banned.

1Dear Mr. Farshtey, 2After I watched Tlr, I realized how negative the glatorians veiw of the great beings was. Kiina seems to press at mata nui about them every chance she can get and, not even ackar supports them. 3My question is this, would you consider the great beings protaganists or antagonists ?

4Neither. The GBs are not the heroes of the story or the villains of the story. They are blamed, and rightly so, for what happened on Bara Magna, but they also took steps to try to undo what they caused.

5Some old questions I had after watching TLR.

11. What is the nature of the mutagen that the Bahrag used to turn the Bohrok into Bohrok-Kal? Like if Toa fell into this mutagen, would they transform into mutagenized Toa? I don't think it's been revealed what the mutagen is. 2Thanks for your time.

31) No, it hasn't been, and no, it wouldn't affect Toa

1Hi Greg. I just had a small question.
2Journey's End will be serialized, that means that the chapters will be released like the Serials from 2007-2009?
3Like, One chapter a time? Or will it be released like The Kingdom, full version?

4The last I heard was that it will be one chapter a week from mid-February to April. It's 12 chapters in total
