1Got a few interesting vahki questions here, as well as some others.
2Hi, 3Just a couple questions for you.
41)Do toa disks have any power level or code?
52)Do you know of any promotional thing that lego might do to release the other 5 toa disks?
6Thanks in advance.

7No, and I don't know of any plans for that at this time.
8Greg

9Just a few more.
101)Let's say a matoran some slipped and is hanging off the edge of a cliff. If a vahki spotted the matoran would it save him/her or would a it have to be commanded be Dume to save the matoran?
11The reason I came up that question was because of Keerahk's remove poison disk on the set. Would it remove the poison from a matoran automatically or would it have to be commmanded by Dume?
122)I've heard of a promo with the vahki. Can you tell me anything about it? Like will it come with something special or what.
133)Can you tell me how Lhikan's tools go together in the set? Or if they don't?
14Thank in advance, as usual.

151) Oh, it would save him. Vahki don't need orders from Dume for every little thing, anymore than police call the mayor every time they see a cat in a tree. An injured or dead Matoran hurts productivity, so of course the Vahki would save him.
162) It will be at Target in the fall, but I can't discuss what the promo is yet.
173) Yes, they do.
18Greg

19I wonder how a matoran would die. Hmmm.

61. If a Vorzakh picked up a Bordakh staff, would it be able to use the powers of loyalty? Or could it only use the original erasing powers?
72. On the Makuta set, is there any puprpose to the 2 mask modes?
83. Okay, a Krekka question. Krekka only has 1 eye, according to his bio. So how does he aim with his shouldered launcher? Does it have an eye attachment or something?
93. Krekka can shoot Energy Nets, which I know. I also hear that he shoots energy from his mouth. Is that true?
104. I know Nidhiki shoots dark energy from his mouth, and he shoots energy webs. Are Energy Webs the same as Krekka's Energy Nets? Also, Can Nidhiki shoot energy from his claws?
115. You said that there are other islands. Do you think it is possible that on another island, Nuparu could have built the Exo Toa?
126. When can we expect the Lorahk set to hit stores?
137. Do you think BZP will get an advanced list of the 05 sets, just like last year for 04?
148. Speaking of Lorahk, when will we find out it's powers and abilities? (besides being able to fly).
159. About Lhikan and the other set coming out this year, why did LEGO decide to make them come out so late?
1610. You said in the Legends of Metru Nui movie, there would be a quote that we would be discussing for months. Does that quote happen to be Nedhiki called Lhikan 'brother'?
17Thanks for your time: Hope you had fun at the comic con:

181) It could only use its own powers.
19Just wanted to make sure
202) Not that I am aware of.
21Wonder why he has them though?
223) I don't recall seeing him do that in the movie.
23Hmm, maybe Krekka always fires blind then.
244) I think Nidhiki only shoots energy from his mouth in the movie. And there is some similarity to Krekka's blasts, since they are both hunters and trapping things is what they do.
25Okay, makes since.
265) No. Nuparu always lived on Metru Nui and did not build the Exo-Toa.
27Ahh, a new storyline hint maybe?
286) Never. The Lohrak is a special combo set we built for the magazine, and can be built using pieces of existing 2004 sets. It was never intended as a set for sale.
29Oh. Okay. Can't wait to build it.
307) I hope not. You were never supposed to get the '04 one.
31Then why on Earth did we get it? Anyways, I hope we don't get one. Spoils the fun in seeing a new set.
328) Lohrak only shows up in the movie novelization at this point.
33Okay.
349) Simple. A, the movie is out in October, and b, October is Christmas buying season. Toys released later in the year do better because people buy them as Christmas gifts. I wish we put more out later.\
35I forgot about Christmas there.
3610) Nope. The quote was in one of the movie clips shown at the panel, but it wasn't that one.
37Then how bout, "You lost the right to call me that long ago."? Just a guess.
38Greg
39And about the storyline hint, that either means that there are more islands unexplored by anyone, or that there are other islands with brand new matoran on them.

The one on page 54 looks like the normle coliseum, but the one on 53 has stuff all over it, like its in a defense mode or somthing? Whats actully hapining there?
42:The dark hunters have there own prison? They could definently get use out of it but how did they get it? Was it some abandond bilding?

5Guys, please keep in mind that "brother" in BI0NICLE does not mean what 6"brother" means to you, since there are no biological relations in BIONICLE. It does open the very strong possibility that Nidhiki was once a Toa .. it does not mean he is related to Lhikan by blood.

3SPOILERS::

4Ok, I just got a PM from Greg, with some new facts.

5Hi Greg,
6I've got a bunch of questions for you to answer when you have the time.
7I've just seen the pictures of the Lhikan set from Comic-Con, and it looks awesome. Having looked at it, I now have a couple of questions about it.
81.) I noticed that Lhikan's Hau and the Avohkii look pretty similar, so I was wondering, is there any connection between Takanuva and Lhikan? Or is it just that their masks are both gold?
92.) The Kikanalo creature is really awesome, and I was wondering if you could tell me anything about him, a bio, storyline importance, or anything like that.
103.) Will Kikanalo be in B2, or any of the Bionicle Adventures books?
114.) Is the Kikanalo really Lhikan's pet, or steed, or something like that, or is he something totally different?
12Ok, so those are my questions about Lhikan and Kikanalo. Now I have a few other, separate questions.
131.) How does the Avohkii get on Mata Nui, and did the Turaga know about it before it was found by Takua.
142.) Did the Toa Metru appear right when Lhikan was captured (within a few days or weeks) or did they appear months after he was captured?
153.) Were Nidhiki and Krekka ever anything else than Dark Hunters, or have they always been a dark Hunters?
16And then I have one more question that isn't really about trying to get new hints in the storyline.
171.) Over what period of time does the Bionicle storyline take place? Does it take place over the course of a few weeks, months or years? (I know that the Metru Storyline takes place 1000 years before the 2001-2003 storyline)
18Thanks for your time Greg. Your responses are always appreciated.
19--Takanuva08

201) No 212) Kikanalo is a Rahi from Po-Metru, and they play a fairly important role in the movie. 223) It will be in the movie and in Book 4 234) No, it is not his pet, it is simply packaged with him because they are both in the film
241) Can't answer it 252) Oh, within a day or so they were active. 263) Watch the movie for a clue to this answer 274) Not sure what you are asking -- given that there is a 1000 year gap between Metru Nui and Mata Nui, it obviously takes place over more than a thousand years (so far).
28Greg

29So, there's a couple of new things, nothing super important, but it's still some interesting stuff.

11q) Can Noble masks be Nuva-ized and stay Noble?
21a) No idea, as far as we know there have never been Turaga Nuva.

32q)Are the Lohrak those Rahkshi-head snakes you mentioned in the teaser for Maze of Shadows?
42a) No. The Lohrak only appear in the movie novelization.

2When will we find out what Nidhiki meant by the brother quote? Will that be in the movie, 2005, or sometime even later than that?

3No idea. I know as much as you do about Nidhiki's past -- the implication of what he said is that he was once a Toa, but I don't know when his story will be told.
4Greg

5okay, thanks... since I wasn't exactly at the comic-con, would it be possible for you to tell me what the quote we're supposed to be discussing is?
6You've seen the entire movie, correct?

7Yes. Nidhiki refers to Lhikan as brother, and Lhikan responds by saying something like, "You lost the right to call me brother long ago."
8Greg

9so there you have it... interesting tidbits to support my theory here.
10I have some questions he currently hasn't answered, regarding whether Dark Hunter is a state of being or not.
#1768
1Hello, GregF.:)
2It's been mentioned multiple times in the books that the Toa Metru don't know the powers of the masks they wear, and yet we see in the trailer for Legends of Metru-Nui that they are already wearing the same masks (albeit powerless, as they are matoran masks).
3Now, my first inclination is to believe that the don't know the powers of any mask--they just make the shapes. But in Mystery of Metru-Nui, Vakama finds a quote "Mask of Shielding" that Nuhrii crafted in the Reclamnation Yard.
4So, if Vakama already knew what powers a Hau held...why wouldn't know the powers of a Huna or Komau or Ruru, consdiering we know these masks are already in existance?
5This has been bugging me for some time and I would greatly appreciate an answer. :)thanks:

6Very good question :)And I even have a very good answer for a change, lol. Vakama naturally knows what a Hau does, because Lhikan wears one so he has seen it in action.
7Greg

8Ahh, I see. I didn't consider that.
9So then, does this mean that mean that they know what a Hau and Kiril do, but not say, a Kaukau or a Kakama?

10Quite possibly.

11Thanks. :)

1Some quetions I forgot in my last PM.

21q)Are there any kind of jail/prison-type places on Metru Nui? Because Onewa, Nuju, and Whenua appear to be trapped in some kind of jail cell.
31a) That cell was created by the Dark Hunters after they came to Metru Nui. There is no official prison in the city, because there has never been need for one.
4Ah, I see. then how did the Vahki know about it? Will PM him back.
52q) In relation to #1, where were Onewa, Nuju, and Whenua originally being taken to? (In other words, If the Toa had not ran, where were they going to be taken?)
62a) They were headed to that cell. The Vahki knew the tunnels they were in and herded them into the right spot.
7Just needed confirmation on that.

10Yes. Nidhiki refers to Lhikan as brother, and Lhikan responds by saying something like, "You lost the right to call me brother long ago."

121. Do Toa always begin as Matoran? Do Matoran ever come from anything else? Do Turaga always stay as Turaga until they die?
132. Oh, and speaking of death, roughly how long would a healthy Matoran live for?
143. Is Dark Hunter a job description or a state of being? Part of my idea was that upon becoming a Dark Hunter, Nidhiki lost his Toa status, and something similar happens to Dume, causing him to become Ultimate Dume.
154. My other question is regarding the "Turaga Lhikan." Is it possible that that character in the boat was actually Jala?

161) Don't know. I have always suspected that Tahu, etc. were not originally Matoran, but that is just my theory.
172) We have never revealed the origin of Matoran
183) Far as I know, yes
194) No idea.

72. Also, do Matoran Vakama & Co.'s masks have the silver coloring on top?

1Questions: 21. Not much of a question, but if your still deciding on a villan to bring back, you could probobly make something cool out of the Bahrag awakening or the MuakaKane-Ra combiner.
32. Will there be a game or something with the Shadow Toa?
43. Which storyline is more reliable, internet (Toa go underground fight Makuta and Takua awakens the Bohrak), the books (Toa go underground, fight Shadow Toa), or comics (Tahu wakes the Bohrak)?
54. Do you any pics of Ult. Dume from LoMN that you can show (since the Comic-Con thing aperently showed Ult. Dume)?
65. Were some of the masks from MoL remade for LoMN (like the Huna might not have eyebrow type things, differently made Kakama, etc.)?
7Answers: 81) The second is a possibility, the first is not for various reasons.
92) No. The shadow Toa were originally intended for the 2001 game, which was never produced. They are long out of the story, so there is no reason we would be going back retelling '01 storyline in software.
103) Tahu never woke the Bohrok in the comics. He was present when a nest woke up, but he never sent the signal to wake them up. I would go with the books on the other stuff, as they were approved by the web producer.
114) No. I am a writer, I don't get pics of things.
125) Well, sure. The Great version of those masks look totally different from the Noble versions, just as the toy masks of the Toa Metru look different from the Turaga masks from '01.

61) Toa Nuva? No idea. Watch the movie and tell me what you think.
7I saw that answer coming.
82. How many Toa Metru are needed to defeat one Vahki?
92) One can defeat one Vahki, if he uses his wits
10Thought so.
113. Do the Vahki's staff powers only work on Matoran or not. If not, what are the limits of what can be effected.
123) They work on Toa, they work on Matoran, and they can work on other things if they have enough of a mind to be stunned.
13If they work on a Toa, how can the Toa possibly defeat the Vahki...

205. When Nidhiki calls Lhikan 'brother', is this just a term or are they actually brothers?
215) There are no blood relations in BIONICLE, because there is no biological reproduction. The use of the word "brother" implies the Nidhiki may have been a brother Toa at some point.
22Ah: The most intresting answer I got:
236. Why did Lhikan pick Vakama, Matau, Nokama, Nuju, Whenua and Onewa to be Toa and not any other Matoran?
246) Destiny
25I thought worthyness.
267. Why didn't he pick Takua to be Toa? Surely he must of known that Takua is worthy of becoming a Toa.
277) No, he didn't. And Takua's destiny was to become Toa of Light (though Lhikan did not know that) -- not a Toa of Fire in Metru Nui.
28Good Point.
298. If Takanuva and Toa Vakama fought, who would win?
308) Probably be a draw. They have different elements, but are at the same power level.
31I thought Takanuva.
32Thanks In advance. 33Nuurahk Lord.

2QUOTE 3Hi Greg, just have some questions on my mind.
41. In comic #12, when the Bohrok-Kal are defeated, Lehvak-Kal gets shot off of Mata-Nui. Is it possible for it to get control of its power once more and come back? I think it would be funny seeing Lehvak-Kal coming back from space :
52. After a Toa completes his/her's destiny they can choose the path of becoming a Turaga or staying a Toa. Is there another path that a Toa could choose that we don't know yet?
63. How do you pronounce Fikou?
74. Is the theater released Bionicle movie still planned?

1::Exceprt from a series of PM's I sentto /recieved from Mr. Farshtey.::
2::Questions::
31: At some point, after their arrival on Mata Nui, Makuta's evil influence caused the Matoran to change shape, resulting in the stubby "McToran" we were first introduced to. From what I understand, the "MoLtoran" of 2003 are what the toys were originally intended ot be like, more or less. Therefor, is this physical change relevant to the movie, since MoL Matoran look almost identical to B2 Matoran?
42: Will this physical change be shown at any time in the movie, future movies, or future comics?
53: If the Matoran originally looked like the "Metruan" toys, then looked like the "McToran" toys, why do they now look like the "MoLtoran" toys?
64: The Toa Metru wear Great versions of the Turaga's Noble Kanohi (Toa Vakama wears a Great Huna, since Turaga Vakama wears a Noble Huna). Is this an accurate statement?
75: If #4 is indeed accurate, why do the six "Chosen Matoran" in Legends of Metru Nui (LoMN) appear to be wearing Kanohi similar to their Toa masks? (Example: Matoran Nuju wears a Mahiki that looks more like an Akaku Nuva).
86: You worked the Vahi into the story because the will of the masses (I. E, the fans) deemed it so. Any chance you can help a guy out and make the Boxor important again? ^_____^
97: I heard that characters such as Kongu will have more screen time in LoMN. Is this true?
108: What will happen to Mata Nui now that the Matoran have left it behind?
119: I don't understand the purpose of the Hau-like gate in Makuta's main chamber at the end of MoL. I also don't understand the purpose of the little ceremony Turaga Vakama initiated, involving Hahli and Jaller, that allowed Takanuva to be ressurected from nothing more than his Mask.
1210: Many people ask you questions about relationships between characters in Bionicle. You seem to always decry such possibilities. But what about Jaller and Hahli? And the original Bioni-couple, Macku and Hewkii? And is it off-base to think Nokama and Vakama may have, at some point, had a relationship as something more than compatriots and colleagues? My question is, how can you say there's not any focus on romances in Bionicle when you have evidence like Hahli/Jaller and Hewkii/Macku?
13::Answers::
141) It's not really relevant to this year's movie, but in the near future you will learn exactly how and why they changed.
152) The reasons for it will be, but the change itself may only be covered in one of the novels.
163) I don't understand your question.
174) Yes
185) Simple. Matoran masks are made to look like Great Masks and Noble Masks as a tribute to past Toa.
196) Not sure how, since that was not built until the Bohrok attacked. It would have to wait until we were back to the Toa Nuva story.
207) Kongu does appear in the film, but only has a couple lines of dialogue.
218) Nothing. It will lie fallow until and unless the Bohrok come back to clean it off.
229) Well, the purpose of one was to keep Matoran from returning to Metru Nui (since the gate was too heavy for even an individual Toa to lift). The purpose of the second was just what you said, reforming Takanuva.
2310) Because there is no focus in what I do on it. All of that relationship material has been done on the web, and not by me. While I have some fun with the whole Nokama-Matau thing, I don't deal with Matoran romances at all in the comics and the books, because I have no room or really any interest in exploring them.
24::I re-PMed Mr. Farshtey to clarify what I meant by Question #3.::
25To elaborate on #3, there are three physical forms, according to the toys, for the Matoran: The Mc Donalds Happy Meal version, commonly called McToran, the 2003 redesgins, called MoLtoran, and the six Matoran villagers released alongside the Toa Metru, often called "Metruan." If I understand correctly, the chronological order of physical forms goes: Metruan to McToran to MoLtoran.
26Now, here's my question once again: If the Metruan form was what all Matoran looked like originally, then were reduced to the McToran form by Makuta's evil influence, why do they now look like the MoLtoran of 2003, and not their original Metruan design?
27I hope that makes the question a little more legible.
28::And here is his response::
29I think so. Put simply, the Matoran did not have the skill or the resources to be able to rebuild themselves back to what they used to look like, even with the Turaga's guidance (remember, the Turaga are the only ones who remember what they used to look like). So they did the best they could to basically bulk up for possible future conflicts. The Turaga were not trying to get them to be identical to their old form, just in better shape than their McToran form. 30-----------------------------------------------------------
31Interesting... I had always thought that Makuta's very presence, his evil influence, sort of "locked" the Matoran into their stubby McToran forms. Once Makuta was no longer a threat, and the villagers didn't have to worry about Rahi and Bohrok, the Turaga basically said "Alright, gather 'round, you stuby little freaks. It's makeover time." But for the Matoran, the upgrade was almost exaclty the same as when we all bought the 2003 figures: We took'em apart and reassembled them ^_^

94:Is Bionicle going to get kidyish?I ask only because of this topic here...

115:has the Krakahn been destriod?
125) In the present day? No idea. I saw the same movie you did.
136:If Makuta is dead then could the kraata he made be dead to?
146) No. Kraata exist independently of Makuta.

157:Have any idea when the new Bionicle 2 movie site will be up?
167) Don't know offhand.

17All I can think of for now thanks for your time...

1713:will the toa-nuva turn into turaga after they awake mata-nui or will they have more to do before they complete there destiny?
18okay thats all i just hope you do not answer cannot answer or say movie plot becuse these things have kinda buged me a bit becuse of my ideas.

191) No. Nidhiki never calls Krekka brother, and there is no indication in the movie that Krekka was ever a Toa. 202) Maybe. Don't know 213) There are definitely other islands, I have no idea what they are called. 224) Favorite mask is probably Mask of Speed; favorite elements are probably ice or stone 235) Toa don't get infected. Only their masks do. Take the mask off and you are no longer infected. 246) Not that I know of 257) A mask of teleportation certainly could be, but I doubt there is such a thing as a Mask of Life or Mask of Death. 268) I am not allowed to read fan fiction, sorry 279) The Toa Metru exist 1000 years before the Toa Nuva, and they aren't Nuva, so why should they look like Toa Nuva? 2810) Lee-can 2911) Because I work here. I have to know. 3012) Yup 3113) Wait and see
321:hmm why is only nidhiki a "brother" to lhikan
332:wow greg does not know thats rare
343:i knew it
354:well kakama's cool but i like huna-metru but ice is also my fav element
365:well that counts as the toa being infected but owell but would if the mask was not the thing that was infected like if there armor got infected or there brain like mind controle
376:two things greg do not know wow i am good at stumping greg
387:yes a mojin-toa is now possible to be real with those powers but life and death would be a bit too cheep i can understand why there is none
398:not alowed to read fanfiction: i wounder why?
409:yah but they should look alike becuse there toa
4110:lol its an air-can:le=air weird way to say the name but i will still call him like lhii-khan it sounds better
4211:well i guess the name makers make a way to say the names and then tell it to greg

1These are Bionicle Guide to Metru Nui questions. If you don't want to spoiled for the Guide, don't read this. There are no movie spoilers though.

2----------------------------------------------------
3Coliseum
41. In the Akilini description, what does 'retractable chutes' mean. I know what rettractable means, but I can't visualize this in my mind very well. Do chute ends come out and then, if you go in them, they spit you back out to some other end? Or is it like a look where you can jump out and in any time?
5Basically, it is a network of chutes that can be extended or retracted from the top of the Coliseum. You jump into and out of them through the sides during the game.

62. Why do Vahki need to train and excercise? They're machines. What are they going to do, rust?
7Always have to train, for battle tactics. Never know what kind of Rahi might show up.
83. Can you give me any examples of the kind of items one would find in the Coliseum Storage Room?
9Old Vahki transports ... disks ... the sort of things you keep in the garage
104. What kind of things does Dume televise? Akilini scores? Public messages?
11Speeches, usually
12Ta-Metru
135. I know this probably won't happen (painting yourselves into a corner and all), but will we ever see a specific Kanoka Chart?
14Such as what?
156. Were Matoran dissapearing before Morby showed up? Or just during Morby's reign?
16They actually started disappearing before he was known about, but most Matoran just blame the Morbuzakh for that too.
177. Do the masks talk back? Lol, that was funny.
18:)
19Le-Metru
208. It says Kongu runs all of the main chute controls, so does that mean he is the 'boss' of the Moto-Hub?
21No, just that that is his job.
229. How are the combined Kanoka (weight-increase, shielding, levitation) identified? Do they have double digits instead of the normal one? Like 1|22|3? Or like 1223?
23Good question, to which I have yet to get a good answer from anyone :)
2410. It says Le-Matoran were experimenting with using 'energy given off by living creatures.' What energy do we give off?
25Not us. Other biomechanical creatures. But even humans have electrical energy inside them.
2611. Did the Matoran make any proto-type energy generators like that that succeeded in any way before the movie occurences?
27Don't think so.

2812. Why would anyone want failed Test-Track vehicles from Tamaru? What's the point? They probably don't even work (although Nuparu might want on or two  )
29Oh, well, you know, the Nuparus and Mataus of the world always think they can fix them. Why do people buy cars from junkyards?
3013. You said the Kinloka was part of an experiment to produce a Rahi with a better digestive system. Who performed the 'experiment?'
31Can't answer it, but there is a major clue in Book 6 this year :)
3214. Were the two-headed Tarakava and the Mutant Ussal Crab experimented on the same being who made the Kinloka?
33Pretty much, yes.
34Ko-Metru
3515. In the original Ko-Metru bio, it mentioned 'memory crystals.' What is that?
36They are sort of the Matoran equivalent of tape recorders. They store knowledge.
37Ga-Metru
3816. It says Ga-metru is evenly divided between Teachers and Students. Does that mean Ga-metru has a 1:1 ratio of Teachers and Students?
39That's what evenly divided usually means, yes.
4017. If so, what's the point of classrooms? Shouldn't every student have a room with their teacher?
41Different teachers teach different things. And some teachers teach other teachers.
4218. The Kavinika description mentions 'lesser temples.' What are those for?
43Temples erected in honor of past heroes, great Matoran, etc. Sort of like memorials/monuments.
44Po-Metru
4519. What does a Vahki's flight mode look like? Is it like the Rahkshi's?
46It's depicted in the comic, I think.
4720. Do Vahki fly in the movie?
48Not by choice, lol
4921. It says Hewkii makes disks. Does he have his own small forge in Po-Metru? Or does he have to go to Ta-Metru to forge them?
50As I think it says in the book, disks are made in every metru, not just Ta-Metru.
5122. Does every metru have small forges for making Kanoka of that particular metru?
52Yes
53Onu-Metru
5423. In the Toa Metru games, it says Nuparu is a Rahi Recieving Official. In the Guide, it says he's an inventor. I believe you wrote both, so which is true? Or are they both half-true?
55They are both true. His day job is Rahi Receiving Official. His hobby is inventing. Onu-Metru does not have an "inventor" job, just miners and archivists.

5624. Did Nuparu leave Metru Nui before he could finish his machine to 'serve and protect the Matoran?'
57No. He never got it started. 1000 years later, he came to basically the same conclusion and built the Boxor.
5825. Will we encounter any of the sea beasts that Dume ordered away in, oh, say, "Voyage" of Fear (or any of the upcoming books)?
59Yes.
60Guide Pictures
61Some of the images in the guide confuse me. If you happen to have the Guide, can you explain what the images in the Guide are, if you can? Some I just don't get. And remember, if you have the Guide. If you don't, just skip them. But I'd like to know.
62Pg 7. What are the strange glassy domes on the Ga-metru coast-line called and used for?
63I don't have a name for them, but they actually lighthouses. In ages past, there used to be a lot of sea traffic between Metru Nui and other islands.

64Pg 18. What is the thing sticking out of the top of the Po-Metru hut?
65It's a chimney.
66Pg 18. In the same picture, if has some cut off text at the top left. All I can make out is 'ost hut.' Do you know what the rest was, before it cut off the beginning of 'ost'?
67No, I don't.
68Pg 26. Um... are the tall, purplish towers Knowledge Towers? I don't know what else they could be, and they're supposed to be white.
69They are white. The purple color is a reflection of suns' set.
70Pg 27. Is the big black ball and all the little balls on the... Knowledge Tower... obervatories?
71Yes, and learning chambers.

72Pg 28. What is all the red stuff on the walls? Is that writing?
73No, just ornamentation, I believe.
74Pg 53/54. in the pictures on these two pictures, it shows the Coliseum, but they have completely different base structure. 54 is more simplistic with little blue tunnels stretching out, and 53 is much more complicated and cooloer looking. Which is more accurate?
75They both are. 53 is just a wider angle shot.

76Pg 60. What is that huge black arch on the Moto-Hub?
77Part of the test track
78Pg 62. I am not sure about the scale of this image. I am not sure if that thing is a bulding, and if so, it is HUGE::: I seems like the ground is made up of walkways and stuff, but little walkways. How big is a Matoran compared to that structure?
79Really, really, small. Those structures are sort of like auxiliary moto-hubs where airships are built and maintained.

80Pg 62. What is that structure called and used for?
81See answer above
82Pg 68. What is the huge tunnel thing? It reminds me of the Vahki Hive in the Vahki commercial, but it also looks like it might be an airship hangar of something like that.
83On 68? That's a section of the Archives.

84Pg 71. What is that? It looks like a vault door.
85Sealed Archives chamber
86Pg 71. Where does it lead?
87Someplace you don't want to go, unless your ambition is to be eaten by a Rahi
88Pg 71. What is all that blue, glowing stuff around the door?
89An indication that the Rahi inside is really in a bad mood today.
90----------------------------------------------------
91Thank you so much for answering, Greg: This book was great and answered a lot of questions, and made a few more: Can't wait for the next book, and the movie too:

116. It says Ga-metru is evenly divided between Teachers and Students. Does that mean Ga-metru has a 1:1 ratio of Teachers and Students?
2That's what evenly divided usually means, yes.

3yea but i think the ga metruan also teach alot of metruan from other metrus because in the mini cd game it showed that the classes are pretty big
420. Do Vahki fly in the movie?
5Not by choice, lol

6wohoo: vahki tossing tournament

79. How are the combined Kanoka (weight-increase, shielding, levitation) identified? Do they have double digits instead of the normal one? Like 1|22|3? Or like 1223?
8Good question, to which I have yet to get a good answer from anyone

9this is intresting i wonder if there will be letters or diffrent digits insted of numbers in the power code

1QUOTE 2Hey Greg, I got really interested when i heard that nidhiki might 've been a toa so...
31) If he was once a toa do the toa metru know his origins? Or was he from somewhere else like lhikan?
42) If he was a toa they knew, would that be part of the reason they mistrusted their toa on mata nui?
53) What happens if a toa doesn't go through with his destiny?
64) By the way, how is protodermis colored?
7Thanks Greg

81) No, the Toa Metru do not know his origins, but I am betting Lhikan does. 92) No, again, they never knew Nidhiki as a Toa. 103) Well, he would never have the opportunity to become a Turaga, for one thing. 114) It's part of the manufacturing process in Ta-Metru.

Tokaru
1... 25: If #4 is indeed accurate, why do the six "Chosen Matoran" in Legends of Metru Nui (LoMN) appear to be wearing Kanohi similar to their Toa masks? (Example: Matoran Nuju wears a Mahiki that looks more like an Akaku Nuva). 3...5) Simple. Matoran masks are made to look like Great Masks and Noble Masks as a tribute to past Toa. 4...

5I think you meant "Matatu" there. Matau wears a Mahiki, not Nuju.

6City Guide Spoiler warning below still in effect.

8... 9Pg 7. What are the strange glassy domes on the Ga-metru coast-line called and used for?
10I don't have a name for them, but they actually lighthouses. In ages past, there used to be a lot of sea traffic between Metru Nui and other islands. 11...

12There was what?
13Ooooohhhh. Great questions, CM. Great answers. :D
14Wonder who was involved in that? All Metruan just exploring maybe? Or... someone else.....
#1789
1Dunno if this helps, but...
2Sorry to bother you and all, you're probably really busy, but I have a question: How do you destroy the Vahki? There are no weaknesses like the Bohrok and Rahkshi had.
3Just wondering, 4<V>

5The Vahki are machines, so you don't have to worry about killing them. They aren't alive. So you can smash them, crush them, compact them, etc. ... as Matau puts it in BIONICLE #20, "They are much easier to reason with in small pieces."

1SPOILERS::

2Hi GregF.I just got the guide today and I have a couple questions:
31)I don't have the guide with me currently, but on the page where Turaga Dume's bio is long with Lhikan's, it says that Turaga Dume's mask is a Great Kiril. Is this just a typo?
41) Yeah, that one's my fault. Should have caught it in the proof.
52)Why don't the Dark Hunters have to wear Kanohi masks?
62) They just don't.
73)Are there other beings (other than the rahi) that don't have to wear Kanohi?
83) Possibly
94)Does Makuta HAVE to wear his mask?In other words, would he be alright if he took of his Kanohi and never wore it again?
104) Yes, he does
115)I'm not quite sure if I've asked you this before, but why is Makuta called THE Makuta?
125) There actually is a reason for it, surprisingly enough. And the first major clue to it (actually, the answer, really) is coming up later this year.
136)In the official GregF answer topic, I read that there are pictures of lighthouses in Ga Metru that were used long ago for incoming ships from other islands. Why have there been no ships from other islands coming to Metru Nui in so long?
146) Because Dume ordered the passages to other islands sealed.
157)Are the crystals that grow into the Knowledge towers able to grow anywhere, or only in the special cradles in Ko-Metru?

167) Only in the cradles
178)If someone were to disable a large part of Le-Metru, then would the effectively cripple the entire island?I only ask this because in the Guide, it says that without Le-Metru's transportation, life on Metru Nui would grind to a halt.
188) If you could shut down the entire chute system, yes, it would be like shutting down the entire freeway system in L.A. Life would go on, but it would be way more difficult.
199)Over time, have the matoran built over some of the buildings in Metru Nui, sort of like Corusant in Star Wars?
209) It wouldn't surprise me. I frankly really like the notion of there being an old city under the current one, like there is in Seattle, but not sure if I will ever be able to do that.
2110)How long has Metru Nui been around?
2210) Thousands of years. Easily.
2311)I read a description on Borders website of Book 6 that talked about how the Toa Metru traveled back to Metru Nui after the matoran were put to sleep.Am I correct in saying that the Toa Metru transported matoran to Mata Nui and then came back to try and free the Matoran in slumber?
2411) Yes. Only a very few Matoran made it to Mata Nui on the first trip.
2512)
2657)If the Turaga as Toa could not defeat what drove the Matoran from Metru Nui, how do they expect the Toa Nuva to do it?I know they are more powerful, but not by that much.
27Who said they expect the Toa Nuva to do it?

28Can you hint at what they do expect to help them?
2912) You are assuming that what drove the Matoran from Metru Nui is still there a thousand years later.

30I think that that's about it.
31Thanks

1QUOTE 23) Just out of curiosity, are the parts that serve as Matoran's brains mechanical, or biological?
33) Can't answer it, it is not something that has been officially determined by the team.

4If I may comment... I'd have to vote for biological. While an electric circuit, microchip, or something else of the like, if advanced enough, could theoretically have a complex artificial intelligence that could give Matoran their human-like conciousness, it most likely would not display the irregularity that we associate with a human mind. Everyone thinks differently, has a different personality. A neuro-chemical, organic brain can, simply because the nature of organic tissue allows for a great deal of variety between individuals. Even though Matoran don't reproduce biologically, their tissues must have some kind of genetic code that drives their function, which could theoretically change over multiple copyings (as far as we know, organic tissue must be grown from existing samples... it would be an unimaginably complex process to "build" organic cells from scratch).
5However, this is all "real-world" science (however simplified), which might not apply to the Bionicle world. Even Vahki seem to display varying "personalities", and they are nothing but cogs. Although, since they are built, this could be attributed to various "configurations" of their mechanics. But even this would not seem to apply to Matoran... I doubt that whoever produces new Matoran programs their "minds" according to various existing personailty "formulas"... otherwise Matoran would be far too predictable. Their minds definitely seem to be human, thus it is natural to assume that there is some random factor in the production of the "mind"... which is not something normally associated with mechanics.

11. Can more than two Kanoka be used in the creation of a mask?
22. If so, could the Great Disks be used to make such a mask?

31) Yes 42) Possibly

1LIGHT SPOILERS:::

2LIGHT SPOILERS:::

3LIGHT SPOILERS:::

41. Between the Hau in the Lhikan set not looking like a Hau and I think you said that the eyepiece in Nuju's Matoran Matatu was a personal modification or something like that, is it possible for someone to "customize" their mask? Like, make an Akaku, but remove thescope lense, alter a few details, etc., as long as it's for your personal use (i.e., you accidentally break your mask)?
52. During the scene where Nokama activates her mask, does she speak English and the Kikanalo understand her, or does she actually make the sounds that a Kikanalo makes?
63. About how long does Ultimate Dume last in the movie?
74. Will there be any Archives scenes where we see any Rahi/Rahkshi/etc.?
85. In that big monster the lived below the Matinence Tunnels in the Darkness Below, will we ever see that again?
96. In the Rahi Guide out next year, for the Rahi that we haven't already seen as a set (Tunneler, Stone Rat, Lava Eel, etc.), will we only get descriptions, or will we have pictures that we can build from if we have the right pieces?
107. Is it possible for Krahka to change into mostly something, but keep a little bit left? Like the scene in DB where Krahka picked off all the Toa, is it possible for her to change mostly into the Darkness Rahi, but still, like, keep Whenua's head to keep the illusion that Whenua was still there?
118. From what you said a while ago about Matoran being able to put themselves back together if it falls off, is it possible -- if somewhat inhumane -- for someone like Nuparu to take a Rahi apart and incorporate it into his/her machination?
129. When Vakama's bio said that he "failed" in making the Vahi, does it mean "fail" as in "failed to meet Dume's specifications" or something like that?
1310. Since the Kranua (I think that's it) can turn into a living cloud of dust, is it possible to trap something with part of its body, then make a smaller version out of the rest of the dust and drag it away, or does it just sit there until a smaller Vahki comes along?
1411. On the same tune, is it possible for a Kranua to turn into dust and wrap around a smaller Vahki, making a "battle suit" of some sorts?
1512. Again, on the same tune, is it possible for a Kranua to change shape, since it can take a non-corporeal form? like, turn into dust, then turn into something that resembles a smaller Vahki? 16----
17that's all for now.
18Thanks

191) Yes, I think that would be legal. 202) She actually speaks their language. And keep in mind that they don't speak English, they speak Matoran. 213) Watch the movie and find out. A lot longer than Takutanuva 224) A brief one, yes, but the Archives don't figure in this movie much 235) Yes. November comic. 246) Most of the Rahi in that book will either be ones we have done sets for or ones that won the Rahi contest. 257) Yes 268) That would probably be highly illegal to do. It's not exactly something you could hide after you had done it. 279) No, it means that he wasn't able to make the mask work at all. 2810) Easiest answer is that kranua can do anything the Sandman can do in the comics. 2911) No 3012) It can shift itself into other forms, but it can't change colors, etc., so it is not going to fool anyone into thinking it is someone else. Also, if it looked like a smaller Vahki, it would be a Vahki standing in a pile of sand, since it had not used all its mass. That would look odd.
31Greg

321. Cool 332. Looks like we'll be seeing Nokama hiss and growl in the movie :P 343. Good. Very good. 354. ~sigh~ So much for seeing a Rahkshi in passing in the Archives... 365. YES::::::: 376. Oh, well. I still would've liked to have seen a Tunneler... 387. Stupid question, but oh, well. 398. Yeah, I'd imagine. ~imagines a machine with a Muaka arm sticking out of it and shudders~ 409. Huh. Seemed to be working fine when Tahu used it... 4110. ...What does Sandman do? 4211. Darn. 4312. Yes, that would...

5Hello Greg i have a few questions here
6If all Matorans are half mechanical and half biological, then who built their mechanical parts?
7In some spoilers on this site, there was written that Toa metru come back to metru nui to take from there rest of matoran. they came back only to take those matorans?
8Why Turaga Dume closed water paths to other islands?
9In Spoilers again, there was written that Vakama was fighting Ultimate Dume, and they dropped Vahi to protodermis sea. how did they find Vahi after that?
10Thanks in Advance

111) I can't discuss how Matoran came into being, on the instructions of the head of the story team. 122) Basically, yes. They are moving to Mata Nui. 133) Because he knew a crisis was coming. 144) That is a story for a later day.
15Greg

163 is interesting... how he knew about that?
#1796
1Hehe, hi:
2Long time no see, eh? (Well, I've never seen you for that matter, but... )
3Anyways, I've been having a few questions that meself has been wondering about.
41. IF Nidhiki was a Toa, when do you think we'd learn more about him as one?
51) Don't know. Not my call to make.
62. And, relating to 1, do you think we'd ever see him as a set if we went WAY back? (I mena, this is supposed to be the Befroe Times, but there is still alot of history before Metru-Nui.)
72) Is it possible? Sure. But I think we are going to go back to the present day before we go deeper into the past.
83. How did Nidhiki get to know Krekka? Did he team up with Krekka just to destroy Toa?
93) Odds are they met on a hunt -- both had the same target -- and decided to work together. Krekka benefits from Nidhiki's brains, Nidhiki uses Krekka to intimidate others.
104. You've said you have no clue whether Nidhiki was a Toa or not. If he wasn't (a Toa), what would be your next guess?
114) Don't have one. All evidence points to him being a Toa.
125. How big is Turaga Dume's main chamber?
135) Pretty darn big.
146. Does he have a private office?
156) Yes
167. We just got a ton of spoilers about Voyage of Fear (bad for you ) and I was wondering, are those Matoran frozen in those (for lack of a better word) things, ones we have seen before?
177) Yes
188. What's the point of sailing across the ocean to free the Matoran? (I know about the earthquake, so theycan't go back) What is out there that could unfreeze them?
198) You will have to watch the movie to understand and then read the books.
209. So Makuta is not a Great Being, will we see any Great Beings besides Mata-Nui sometime soon?
219) Mata Nui is most likely not a Great Being either. Mata Nui is the Great Spirit -- Vakama never calls him a Great Being.
2210. Will we see a list of all the possible Kanoka combanations before the end of the year?
2310) I certainly hope so.
24Thanks for your time, I know you're really busy.

1Ok,I just asked greg something and he replies:

2SPOILERS:

3Basically, this is how I see it. The Matoran credit Mata Nui with the sunrise, even though he has been asleep a thousand years. If they were in a dangerous situation and managed to escape, they would credit Mata Nui with it. In this case, they credit Mata Nui with helping them find a place of (relative) safety. But no, he did not physically take them by the hand and lead them there, anymore than Zeus led the Greeks to their homeland.
4Also, at the time that the Matoran go to the island of Mata Nui, Mata Nui is already asleep.

1QUOTE 23)Just out of curiosity, are the parts that serve as Matoran's brains mechanical, or biological?

6I agree, and mainly because of the basic nature of Matoran. They are biomechanical, not cybernetic. If their brains were machine mainly, then, well, they'd most likely have to be mechanical. It's hard to make a mechanical brain do what a brain does.
7Yes, the Vahki brains work that way. But, Vahki muscles, and everything are also totally mechanical. Matoran aren't like that; their muscles are biologic. If their brains would be mechanical, why not everything else? Also, Vahki heads are a lot bigger, yet they're a lot dummer.
8That's my basic reasoning as to why most likely the brains are organic. Now, they may be a happy medium, and have mechanical parts too. I dunno. But it seems the main processing must be organic, otherwise it'd have to get into circuitry and stuff like that, which would make them cybernetic.
9(Disclaimer: only the theory I happen to think is most likely. Weird stuff happens. It could be a crystal with energy... well, matrices in it (Pun on CM not entirely intended...) for all we know.

1My comments in bold .
2Hello: I have some more questions that I forgot to ask last time. So here they are (plus some new ones):
31. Why couldn't the Toa use their elemental powers inside the Exo Toa?
42. Why did they have to strian to use their mask power inside the Exo Toa?
53. You said that Vakama knew what a Hau did because he has seen it in action. But Onewa knew what a Kakama does. How?
64. Does book 6 come with any exclusive information? (I saw a little white box with some text in it on the cover)
75. You said book 7 would come out January. (correct me if I'm wrong). When will we see book 8?
86. How many of the books are you planning to write for next years storyline?
97. And the last questions: Is it possible that the Vahki could still be active? (once the Toa Nuva arrive?)

101-2) Part of the Exo-Toa design.
11Whew: I've been wondering about that since I read the comic:
123) No, he doesn't. Onewa says that a Toa of Stone should have a Mask of Speed .. that doesn't mean he knows anything about a Kanohi Kakama or that a Mask of Speed even exists, as far as he knows. He just thinks one would be a good idea.
13Shouldv'e thought about that myself
144) Not to my knowledge, no. But all the books have exclusive story info in them.
15All the books have exclusive story info? Not sure if that's a statement or a small joke.
165) Book 7 is actually scheduled for Feb. 1, I think, which would put Book 8 probably April 1.
17April? Ah man. . .
186) I am scheduled to write all of them.
19He misunderstood me
207) Don't know. I will have a better idea when the next Toa Nuva story bible is written.
21I hope so though.

24Sorry, I must have miss-phrased number 3. How many books are planned to come out next year? 25[/QUOTE]
26There are currently five novels scheduled for 2005, plus a Rahi guide and probably one other book of some sort.
27Probably 'one other book of some sort'? Almost like this book might be canceled.

1... 23. You said that Vakama knew what a Hau did because he has seen it in action. But Onewa knew what a Kakama does. How? 3...3) No, he doesn't. He just thinks one would be a good idea. 4...

5Also, according to Master of the Rahkshi in the Official Beginner's Guide to Metru Nui (from the City Book), Vahki transports use Kanoka of Speed to move. So, Onewa may have thought "Gee, there's a Kanoka of Speed, why not a mask of speed?"
6This time I actually do have an answer. I just wondered how full his inbox was, after he was away. Nothing interesting...
7No story questions for now. I just wanted to ask, what's the state of your inbox right now? I know you were very busy lately (are you still?). Should we hold off on sending more for a while? (I now you like gettin' PMs, but I don't want to help overflow your inbox when you've been busy. :D)

8I am basically caught up on BZP. Of course, I have 13,000 "Ask Greg" questions to go through, but I don't answer most of those -- it's generally the same two or three questions from everyone, most of which they could find the answers to on BIONICLE.com if they looked.
