1 Hi Greg. Smile
2I've been writing a story and have a lot of ideas. Do you have any advice for young writers like myself? Thinking Smile
3Thanks. Smile

1Brick blue Greg Farshtey,

2A few questions.

3First: How did you get involved in Bionicle?

4Second: How was the experience for you in the making of Bionicle?

5Third: Do you plan on taking on any more themes in the future? (predicting answer: yes)

1I have a copy of the paperback edition of Stone Cold and I don't see anything that looks like that. It couldn't be a promo for 2014, because at the time that this book was printed, Papercutz did not yet know Ninjago was coming back in 2014. Do you have the hardcover edition? If you have the paperback, can you tell me what page this is on?

It said: "The Masters of Spinjitzu return! The saga continues here, and only here! After the defeat of the Stone Warriors, Jay, Cole, Zane, and Kai have to regroup fast when an even greater challenge rises from the shadows. With their ranks divided against the most sinister, most unstoppable foe they have ever faced, the ninja must call upon everything they’ve learned from Sensei Wu… and more. This is the one you’ve been waiting for! All-new high-kicking action from the world of Ninjago!" I took the descriptoin from the site:

5The Brick Blogger said that the poster was available as a gift-with-purchase at the their booth at Comic-Con.

1I have a question that has been nagging at me.

2Firstly, I know that, if smashed, Vahki can reform themselves.  So, if a Vahki was stepped on by a Tahtorahk, could it reform?  Or would it be smashed beyond repair?

3NOTE:  This happened in Adventures 8, and I wondered why the Vahki was never said to have reformed.

4Thanks again for spending your precious time answering our questions! Happy

5You can be smashed into (LEGO) pieces and reassemble, the same way you rebuild a model if you drop it. But if you were able to squash the pieces flat, it wouldn't be possible to reassemble them.

6Okay, thanks for the quick reply! Smile  That information is very useful.  Thanks, Greg! Happy

2I hadn't fully sketched it out yet. I generally don't outline my stories, I let them develop as they go.

3It would be nice if you could continue the story in serials on the HF website.  Sort of like BIONICLEStory and Journey's End. Wink

11. Do you like star wars better then star trek

22.do you like nex from HF

33. ever played minecraft

41) No, I am an original Trek fan more than a Star Wars fan.

52) I don't have a good feel for Nex's character. I found it much easier to write for Stormer and Bulk.

63) No, but I have heard it is a lot of fun. I am just starting to get back into gaming a little bit, so I may try it.

7@1:  YES!  I was thinking of asking if you were a Star Trek fan. Joking

1Are all of the books you have written related to LEGO?

2Just the ones over the last 10 years. Prior to that, I had three novels out, a few short stories, and 30+ roleplaying game books.

diglett809 wrote:1Greg, what was Mata Nui like before the 6 Toa came?

2Not too hot. Makuta was basically terrorizing the Matoran to keep them from ever making it back to Metru Nui.

1Greg when u started writing bionicle because u created the characters did u aid the designers with designing them. (as in drawings or visual concepts) Also i now this is off topic and im sorry about this but a good friend of mine galijb has recently stopped doing a great story called the LEGO universe chronicles he is a big fan of yours (as far as im aware) and i hoped maybe u could check it out and tell him what u think of it. I know this is asking alot but it would mean the world to me if u could do that.

21) We would come up with a very general idea of the characters -- like where they lived -- and then the set designers would do their work. Once we saw what they did, we started coming up with more specific ideas for the characters. I personally never gave input to their designs because I did not feel qualified to do so -- I'm not an artist.

32) Sorry, I have a policy of not reading fan fiction, for legal reasons mainly.

2I first want to say that you are an awesome guy and love every BIONICLE  comic I ever picked up because of you.Anyway I have only a few questions.

31.

4Do you know anything about the question "Will Bionicle return" and when?

52.

6Have you worked with Christian Faber or AKA, Faber Files?

73.

8Have you heard anything about plans to make a live action Bionicle or Herofactory movie? Because a lot of people keep hearing stuff about that.

9Well thats it ,but before I go I just want to say thanks for you time, It was awesome talking to you. Thanks!                                 and keep building...Sarcastic

101) I have not heard anything to indicate there are plans for a return

112) Yes, we were on the story team together

123) No to both. I have not heard anything.

4The advice I generally give is to read a lot -- especially people better than you are -- and don't become a slave to your outline. Sometimes, when you are writing a story, you might find it is more fun/exciting to veer off in another direction, If you feel like you HAVE to stick to an outline, you lose those opportunities. I can tell you the BIONICLE books would have stunk if I had outlined them first.

71) The original BIONICLE story bible was already done and the products just about to be released when I joined LEGO Company. I got involved because the decision had been made to do a comic book, and they needed an approved script in a matter of days, and I was fast enough to do that.

82) Overall, I loved working on the line. I worked with awesome people in a very creative atmosphere and it was personally very rewarding.

93) Oh, that depends on my employer -- if they ask me to get involved in something the way I was with BIONICLE, I doubt very much I would say no, but it has to be a decision made by higher-ups. I can't just say I am going to be a part of a project.

6Okay, so it wasn't something that was actually in the book? Then I don't know a thing about it. I can tell you Nya is not running around with a gun in anything I have written, and there are no new ninja in Book 8 - just the regular ones. It sounds like something that was done as a promotional piece, and since I don't work for Papercutz except as a freelance writer, it's not something I was involved with.

5Cool advice! Smile I like that! Thumbs up

6I think you said something about LEGO giving you a beginning and an end first and then you filling in the rest, was this a cool way to do it?
