1I personally have no issue with this, but I also know very little about web design, or what other problems might be involved. I know in the magazine we are not supposed to show sets or minifigures that are no longer available for sale, because we get complaints to Customer Service from kids and parents.

2Are you considering talking about it with anyone else? As long as people understand it's purely for archive purposes...

3I really doubt there would be much official interest. The line is not active, so there is no budget to set up an archive online.

4Ok... Thanks for your time though Happy

1why did bionicle end?Embarrassedit is so sad.

2In my opinion Bara Magna was crippling the Bionicle theme, not many new Bionicle fans were rising. So when it came to make the last wave of Bionicle (the tiny versions of real heroes and villains) the theme had already been dying. I agree, they could of ended it a lot better, but it HAD to end some point. No theme rules forever my friend (even though I wish it would).

3If I am interpreting what you are saying correctly -- that the 2009 setting was crippling the theme -- there is a slight problem with that theory. The decision to end BIONICLE was made before the 2009 products/story launched, so how the theme did in 2009 had nothing to do with anythng. BIONICLE sales had been slowly but steadily declining since 2002 and it had reached a point by 2008 that retailer/fan fatigue had set in and sales were reflecting this.

1That's ridiculous; the BioMedia Project cobtains every single piece of Bionicle media in the original level of quality. They posess several videos, animations, and games that even LEGO doesn't have anymore, since the company has long since deleted them from their private files. You know that LEGO would never even consider opening up an archive like the one which you describre, so why would you even ask?

1Man, this is pretty exciting! (I missed out on the Ask Greg from back in the day). Here are my questions:

  1. 2Because, you don’t plan your writing, if a situation presents itself that allows you to continue the Bionicle story, will it be an easy “jump” for you to do?
  2. 3 When the Toa Nuva’s adapted armor is in its default configuration, would the Toa Nuva resemble set-wise how they did in 2002? Or would they resemble something similar to their sky and swamp form?
  3. 4Are you able to reveal the name of Toa Jovan’s team (The original retrievers of the Kanohi Ignika)?
  4. 5Can the Red Star revive beings from the MU who are on Spherus Magna?
  5. 6How long did Teridax’s Reign last?

7Thanks for your time!

1Dear Mr. Farshtey,

2 Hello, my name's Kyle and it's an honor to meet you. I've been a huge bionicle fan since I got into the story in 2006, and like many people I was disappointed to see it go in 2010. Is it okay if you answer some questions of mine?

31) Are Toa physically stronger than Glatorian, or is it the other way around?

42) I seem to recall you stating that all SM inhabitants have a metallic bone structure. At least, that's what it says at BS01. Is that true? It should be true, given that the Glatorian's weapons are made from animal bones and thus had to have been metallic to survive a millenia, right?

53) Would an Agori/Glatorian have a shorter lifespan if they chose not to recieve implants?

64) Were Guardian and Lariska the only Dark Hunters helping the resistance during Teridax's Reign, or were there more?

7Thanks for taking your time to answer these!

8Your fan, Kyle

91) I would give the edge to Toa

102) I don't recall ever saying that, or that ever being discussed by the story team.

113) I don't think so.

124) There could well have been more, the DH and the Makuta did not get along well by that point.

2Two reasons, basically, as I understand it:

31) Declining set sales

42) A desire to end the line while it was still doing somewhat okay -- if you wait to end it when it is not selling at all, it would be much harder to bring it back someday if you wanted to.

1Me again...

21. BS01 is currently having a discussion about makuta's shapeshifting and telepathy powers.... are they just kraata powers, or do they have shapeshifting and telepathy powers that are in addition to the ones afforded by the kraata powers?

32. What would a psionics nova blast do/look like?

43. BS01 currently says that wielders of psionics can't absorb mental energy... but couldn't they do so, with the result being dreamless sleep or something similar?

51) I don't recall where we landed on this. I would assume they are kraata powers.

62)  At its most extreme, it would burn out the minds of everyone within a given radius.

73) Since Psionics was an element that came from the fans, I believe we let the fans come up with the rules for it, which is why that rule exists.

1And yet it has been stated multiple times that only certain Matoran are destined to be Toa. If, for example, the Inika were only destined to be Toa because they chose to seek out the Toa Nuva, then at no point prior to that decision being made could they have been destined to be Toa. And that does not seem to jibe with how it has been presented in story, that certain Matoran are destined from the start to be Toa.

2So what would have happened if some other matoran went to voya nui instead of the inika?

3How does a toa know which matoran to give a toa stone to? (other than lhikan and the metru, we know he was mentally influenced in that case).

4During creation of a destined matoran, how could the great beings/mata nui ensure/know the series of an events that would ensure they would do what they intended? (the inika as an example again: when matoro was created, how could they insure that he would one day travel to voya nui to use the mask of life?)

51) I don't think it would have happened. Your destiny is your destiny, and the destiny of the Matoran who became Inika was to go there.

62) Consciously, he probably does not  know.

73) It's a good question. I don't think you can lay this at the feet of the GBs, since they did not know when they created these beings that they would end up self-aware, Makuta would rebel, etc. Destiny, it would seem, might have to be writ by someone other than them.

1in the bionicle story, the toa nuva are supposed to be significantly more powerful than the average toa, yet the story seems to demonstrate that they are about the same power levels as many other toa (i.e. the Toa Inika, The Toa Hagah, etc.).  Are these teams just as strong as the Toa Nuva?  My theory was that the Toa Mata were weaker than the average toa as a result of the canister degeneration (like what happened to the Matoran of Metru Nui) and that the Nuva transformation restored their power and gave them new armor and tools to boot.  Could you possibly tell me what, canonically, the more significant toa teams power levels are?

2My second question is about Mahri Kongu's original toa tool (the one he discarded in favor of 2 cordak blasters).  Would his original weapon have been a piece that was a new, original design (like the rest of the Mahri), or would it have been a weapon that was used in a previous constraction set?  If it was used in a previous set, what piece was it?

31) As I recall, the Nuva had better armor, greater control of their elemental powers, and were capable of sharing the power of their masks with those nearby. That is what made them more powerful. I do not have a comparison chart of the various  Toa teams.

42) No idea. I am not a set designer, so I can't predict how they would have handled this.

2In the BS01 it was mentioned that Mata Nui has created the makuta by transforming the antidermisse liquid to the solid state. Does this mean that Mata Nui has the ability to shape the material as he wants?

3I would need to look it up, but I don't recall us ever saying that.

2 Every article of media which you're referring too, including original Bionicle.com art, animations, videos, games, and wall of history transcriptions, BionicleStory.com serials, podcasts, information, scans of building instructions, and comics can be found at The BioMedia Project; a quick Googe search will direct you to its site.

3I never said video games, and I'd rather not rely on fans to get my Bionicle nostalgia back.

4It's up to you, but if it is the same content, I am not sure why it would make a difference who delivers the experience. LEGO is not really in the nostalgia business.

81) If I was going to continue, I would just need to refresh my memory where I left off.

92) 2002

103) No, because I have no approved names I can use anymore for anything.

114) No. It only works with beings inside the MU.

125) Not all that long.

11.Do you know why was the idea of a three finger island scrapped ?

22.Where there some approved names in Bionicle that didn't appear in story ? If yes, do you remember some of them ?

33.If "The yesterday quest" and "The powers that be" continued, would their stories eventually overlap ?

41) No, I don't. I think that would have been before my time.

52) No, I don't. The few names that were left on the last list were pretty bad, and I no longer have that list.

63) That was not the plan, no.

73) Well but Velika did observe both party in the Great being's fortress along with Kopaka, Pohatu and Gaardus disappearing and he also gave Kabrua device to block Toa's power. It seemed to me that Yesterday quest team would eventualy run into either Lewa or GB fortress and warn others about Velika since they're all in Bota magna...

84.  Earlier, you said that the way Kabrua's device works wasn't decided yet. I have a theory ...it might be some

9elemental power jammer that blocks a connection between Toa's spirit and his body so the power cannot be channeled.Thinking It was stated that Toa need unity of body and spirit in order to use their powers, so this would make sense...
