1 Dear Mr. Farshtey,2Please ignore my last question. It was stupid as I now realize you don't write for the NINJAGO show. I have better questions now.31.) Is it fun to work at LEGO?42.) I'm thinking about a career in writing. All my stories sound good in my head, but on paper, only the fanfics are good. None of the originals that I create are that great. Advice?53.) In the future, would it be possible for fans like us to get jobs writing for LEGO?
6Thank you for taking the time to answer these!

1Dear Mr. Greg Farshtey,

2One usually can do nothing but dream about talking to great men such as yourself. However, here it is, and I am honored to meet you. My question is merely this.

3I have created a story which retells the epic saga you expertly conjured, named: The Biological Chronicle (AKA Bionicle): The Retelling. I merely ask for your approval. It's not a perfect copy, but I'm doing my best with my limited knowledge. Would you please check it out, if you can?

4Hi,

5I actually make it a rule not to read fan fiction, for practical reasons ... I wouldn't want to say yes to some people and then have to say no to others for time reasons, and also there are legal issues relating to it too.

6Wait - a creator of a work can't legally read their fan's own fanfictions? That's not right. Unless it's messed up fanfics and you know what i'm going too deep into this.

7I didn't create BIONICLE - LEGO did, and it belongs to LEGO. Plus it is just good sense -- if you make it clear that your policy is not to read fan fiction, then no one can later say you stole their ideas. On top of that, I just don't have the spare time.

bioniclefanone wrote:1Wow just wow I never thought that a day like this would come. I mean when I saw this topic on announcements in the bio forum I was thinking Greg was going to tell us Bionicle is dead forever or some other bad news. Few things to say first. I've loved all your bionicle comics with the LEGO magazines. I liked the funny lines the charecters had. 1. Is toa Ignika alive? 2. If Ignika was alive when mata nui was in the mask were they like roomies? 3. Would Ahkmou ever become evil if he had the chance? 4. Do you ever read bionicle fan fiction? 5. Would you ever conisder createing a account on the lmbs your name should Velika!

21) Ignika as a Toa does not exist anymore, it is back to being just a mask. 2) It is more like coats of paint -- Mata Nui's mind is on top of Ignika's. 3) Seems to me, based on his history, he already is pretty rotten. 4) No, I don't.

1As a representative from BZPower, one of the worlds largest BIONICLE fan communities, it would be an honor for you to answer these questions:

  1. 2Will you be continuing the serials?
  2. 3If you are, where would you post them? BZPower? BioSector01?
  3. 4Do you like MOCing?
  4. 5I made a Lariska MOC. It's on BZPower, and I would like to know if you like it. Seeing that Lariska is your favorite Dark Hunter.
  5. 6Is there any chance of BIONICLE possibly having a reboot? It would be awesome if generations far beyond ours could have a chance to build with BIONICLE.
  6. 7If it can have a reboot, would it be done with the new balljoint/cup system? This system works really well, and if a BIONICLE reboot used them, a lot of problems would be solved.

8Thank you for taking the time to read these questions and answer them. It means a lot to the fan community.

9-Phantom Terror (BZPower name: Wasp)

101) I have no plans to at this point. I don't have the time and there is no push from LEGO to continue the work at this point.

113) I don't really have any talent for MOCing.

124) How would I find it?

135) No idea. I haven't heard anything about it coming back.

146) Again, no idea. That would be a set designer decision.

2Please forgive an angry post I put up when I had only just found out bio was discontinued

3We had begun discussing what the next movie would be, and if I can remember those discussions, I will post something on them. I know I had suggested putting bio-mechanical dinosaurs into the story, but I don't remember if we were actually going to do that.

1Hey Greg,

2You may remember me as Toa Lhikan Hordika from BZPower.  Not sure if you're willing to reveal this or not, but is there any chance you'd consider revealing the name of The Shadowed One?

3Nope.

1Hi Greg, I wanted to ask if you are still going to finish the Bionicle serials? If are you are, that be nice since Kapura co. are on the brink of death, and Velika is still at large.

2Also, if Bionicle is coming back, can you give us some details on the location and timeline?

3Thanks.

41) Right now, I have no time to work on the serials.

52) I am not aware of any plans to bring BIONICLE back.

1Mr Greg Farshtey,

2I am a sincere fan of your works, and I have a question I wanted to ask you. Since you posted on your Bzpower blog "Bionicle #5 Treatment," and the 2010 Stars sets being collectables of the most iconic Bionicle characters. It has practically been confirmed that the Bionicle ended before it was intended to and the storyline was changed at the last minute. If it wasn't for the cancellation of Bionicle how would the storyline have ended?

3Hi -- We had not planned an "end" for the storyline. Our hope had been that we would do the three movies and then just keep on doing more BIONICLE after that. So we never discussed an actual conclusion to the series.

1Awesome that you are doing a chat! Was a huge fan of Bionicle ever since the start and loved the story and most of the early sets, especially the complex and interesting builds of the large rahi sets.

2However as the series went on the build style got very repetetive, especially from 2006 (Toa Inika) to the end for Toa/Gladtorians and it seemed like large, single limb pieces (Starting with the Av-Matoran) were becoming more and more prominent in the sets. I was wondering how you felt about this change? Was this done on purpose to segway into Hero Factory style building with large snap-on armor plating?

3Thanks for having this and for still being involved in the community!

4I had no opinion on this. I'm not a set designer and my primary focus was on characters, not model style. As far as being done on purpose to segue into Hero Factory, answer is no, since HF was not even conceived until the decision had been made to end BIONICLE.

1Hi Greg, Happy In Bionicle, Is the BIONICLE Universe (Matoran Universe ) inside the Mata Nui Robot? If so, how did the Great Beings built him and then built their islands inside (inside the robot)?

2Yes, and it's not that hard. If you are building something that is way bigger than you are, you can simply go inside it and build more stuff on the inside.

1I have a few questions of Spherus Magna and the Solis Magna System.

21. How big is the planet of Spherus Magna if you were to compare it to Earth?

32. Is the Solis Magna System located in the Milky Way Galaxy just like our Solar System?

43. In one of the monolouge spoken by Mata Nui in his saga about his life on the BIONICLE website. The art that showed his robot body traveling through space studying different cultures in different worlds has something that caught my interest: In the upper right corner I noticed a image of a Human-like shape carrying a spear. Is it possible that Mata Nui visited Earth and studied humanity sometime during his journey before trying to return to Spherus Magna?

54. If a human were to miraculously find him/her self on Spherus Magna, is it possible for them to survive there?

6Thanks for taking your time answer these questions when you do.

71) Don't know. 2) No. There is no reason to believe the Milky Way Galaxy exists in the BIONICLE universe. 3) Again, the official take has always been that Earth/humanity does not exist in this universe. This is why we resisted movie ideas that involved Toa interacting with humans. 4) Maybe, if they could find enough to eat and drink. I don't know how much of what is there would be edible for a human.

71) Most of the time

82) If I had to take a guess, I would say it is because you know the BIONICLE characters well, and you don't know your own characters as well. Try writing out a history of your characters before you write your story. Get to know them better and you will find it easier to write.

93) No idea. I guess it would depend on if jobs open up.

1Hello Greg,

2I really loved your bionicle comics. THEY ARE COOL!(Thumbs upThumbs up)

3One question,

4Do you like working on your comics?
