1 So many people are hoping that Bionicle Gen2 will continue the storyline of Gen1, but some claim that it is completely different. Obviously, it isn't too different, as you have the original Toa heroes (Tahu, Gali, Pohatu, Kopaka, Lewa, and Onua) returning to help Ekimu. I've also seen the Mask of Time, which is important in Gen1, reappear cleverly hidden in Gen2's video serials.
2 I know you're not helping with Bionicle anymore, Greg, but can you predict how many of the elements (terms, heroes, villains, places, etc.) of Bionicle Gen1 will reappear in Gen2? I'm not asking for a complete list, just a good guess of what LEGO might use (i.e. will we see another MU-alike, for instance).

3I am not aware of any plans to add any Gen1 elements to the story beyond what is already there.
1Hello Greg,
2I recently found out some stuff about Polynesian myths regarding ghosts and spirits and they greatly resemble some parts of the 2006 storyline, particularly the antidermis enslavement and energized protodermis as the cure. This was from the Wikipedia page: "Ghosts might also cause sickness or even invade the body of ordinary people, to be driven out through strong medicines.” I guess the ghost would be Makuta and the strong medicine the EP.
3So my question is: was this intentional? I know that BIONICLE had originally drawn great influence from Maori culture, but this was less evident in later years, but did you and the story team still go back to their myths and legends for inspiration later on, if just in more sublte ways than originally?
1Hey Greg,
2I was browsing BS01 and I stumbled upon some articles concerning the children's book "BIONICLE: Journey of Takanuva". I remember reading that book at a bookstore many years ago, and upon seeing more details about it, I realized there are a large number of unanswered questions.
- 3The City of Silver, as well as the Field of Shadows and some other locations, are called "Pocket Dimensions". These do not come from alternate timelines, so how do they come to exist? Are they Great Being experiments? Naturally occuring? Fundamental locations in the universe that exist outside of conventional space-time (sort of like the Speed Force from DC comics)? (Sorry this question may seem complicated)
- 4Were the Kestora in the City of Silver created by the GBs like the ones in the Red Star?
- 5Were the aforementioned Kestora intelligent or did they have minimal AI like those on the Red Star?
- 6Are the City-Building Creatures Rahi?
- 7What is the Spectral Mask?
- 8Were there any plans to revisit this world or was it created solely for this specific book?
9And two more "real-world" questions:
- 10Several months ago, you canonized a Duracell promo set as Turaga Lhikan. Are any other promos canon in any way?
- 11If LEGO were to allow it, how would you feel about fans making their own continuation of Bionicle lore, through MOC/Story contests, canonized fanfic, etc.?
12I really appreciate you keeping the spark of Bionicle Gen1 alive. It means a lot to many people, myself included.
13PS: Sorry if my questions seem to complicated or if they make me seem like an elitist fanboy.

4Two-part answer:
51) That is not just Polynesian mythos. That kind of thing is in a lot of ancient cultures.
62) So it is certainly possible that it could have been some inspiration, but it might also have been inspired by countless sci-fi/horror pictures that have used that trope. It wasn't particularly original.
1Hey, Greg! How's it going?
2Here are some more questions:
31: Why did you decide to take down the idea that there would be biomechanical dinos on Bota Magna?
42: Are there any other surviving Toa, Matoran, Agori, Glatorian, or Turaga anywhere else in the universe besides the Red Star?
53: Will you be at Comic-Con next year?!?!?!

61) I am not sure what you mean by "take down." That was an idea I had, it was never discussed with or approved by the rest of the story team, and then the line got cancelled. So it can't be official, it was never approved.
72) Um, yes, on Spherus Magna. And there are no Glatorian or Agori on the red star.
83) Doubt it. No reason for me to go.
11. Do any Agori or Glatorian currently alive remember the Great Beings or the construction of the two giant robots?
22. When was it decided that Teridax would take over Mata Nui's body?
33. What is the canoncity of the Quest for the Toa GBA game and the Bohrok/Bohrok Kak Online Animations?
44. Would it be acceptable to refer to a Toa of Fire as a Ta-Toa, a Water Toa as a Ga-Toa, etc?
55. Why did the Toa Metru separate the Matoran into villages after becoming Turaga instead of banding together as one society?
