1Hey, Greg
2I just have some questions regarding Tahu's new weapon:
31. If spun at a high enough velocity, could Tahu's Rotating Blades allow him to fly in a similar way to Pohatu's propellers?
42. In the past, it's been shown that the only way to create a cyclone of Fire is for a Toa of Fire and a Toa of Air to combine their powers. However, if Tahu's Rotating Blades were spinning at a high enough velocity, and he then started to channel his Fire powers through it, would the result be a cyclone of Fire?
5Thanks
61) No idea. Since I don't think he's capable of spinning them that fast, it's not going to come up. 72) Don't know, haven't thought about it. I basically have no time to focus on anything beyond what I need for story.
11= What is the name of the bionicle universe, the inhabitants or great beings must call it something? 21A= Will we get a name for the next universe were going to, a name is probably needed so people could tell which universe is being reffered to.
32= What is the difference between the elemental ability of an elemental mask and a toa? 42A= Is there a noticeable difference in elemental controll and power? 52B= Elemental mask's don't use elemental energy right? 62C= If yes, doesn't that mean an elemental mask is better than a toa's elemental powers?
71) We haven't given it a name in story 81a) You will get a name for the location you are in, yes. Let's face it, what do we call our universe? We call it the universe, we don't have a special name for it.
92) An elemental mask has to have elemental energy in it, otherwise it wouldn't work at all. Toa can do things masks cannot, such as absorb their element from the environment. Also, masks run out of power at some point and can't be recharged, Toa powers regenerate normally over time.
10Watch out Hewkii &Taka.
Atlas Destral Entry 1An interesting note is that the Brotherhood at one time attempted to export some of the living rock of Xia's Mountain to this island, hoping to use it for added security. The effort failed because the rock developed a taste for the Visorak spiders that prowl the fortress grounds.
2Why could they get Mutran to make more of his Pet Rock? His madness made him forget? Or too long ago and he naturally forgot?
3He had no interest in making more. Mutran is like a kid in that way -- once he has "played with a toy," he's bored with it and wants something new.
4And the BoM though it was too dangerous to threaten or kill him in not remaking his Pet?
5The BOM had no interest in it. It's an immobile Rahi that takes a long time to grow big enough to be much of a menace. All you have to do to avoid it is just not climb on it. So it's really not of much use to the BOM, which favors more mobile forces like the Visorak
1Here is a brnd new pm from greg. It gives some of his thoughts and some new info on 2009, so be sure to read .

2Hi Greg-
3I was wondering if you could answer some questions I have on BIONICLE.
41) A: Who writes Takanuva's Blog? Is it you? 5B: Is Takanuva's Blog considered the final part of the "Journey of Takanuva" Saga? (i.e. Bionicle Legends prelude and epilogue The Kingdom, JOT, DM, and now T
62) I have some questions on 2009, I know you can't answer all questions, but I'll try my best to ask only the most general ones. 7A: You have said that the end of 2008 will lead into 2009. But my concern with this is that wee don't know how this will link. Will 2008 end the 01-08 story arc, but end on a cliffhanger (if so, it might be hard for fans to "jump off") or will it lead into 2009 some other way, all?owing fans to decide if they want to ignore the 2009 story or not?
8B: Numerous fans have been complaining that the feel 2009 will not be "BIONICLE". I'm wondering if it will will be BIONICLE on the most basic definition, (A legend about BIO-mechanical beings)?
93) When do you plan to put the new serials up?
104) You have said that you might write an 09 serial focusing on the 01-08 universe. Would this be an epilogue on the characters or just a flashback to previous events (Like Hound of the Baskervilles, which was published after Holmes "death" but took place before)?
115) Do you feel sad leaving behind character that you have worked with and fleshed out for 8 years or are you happy to move onto the 2009 universe?
12thank you very much
13~iVahi
141) Yes 151a) The blog takes place during Bionicle Legends 11, after he has made it to Karda Nui 162a) Part of the point is to make it hard for fans to "jump off." If you just wrap things up with a bow on top, the you are giving old fans no reason to stick around. 172b) A lot of people are complaining when they know absolutely nothing about what 2009 will be, just because BZPers like to complain. To me, if you go back to 2001, you had certain basic things that defined it -- heroes fighting against great odds; an unexplored land with unknown dangers; a new culture to learn about; and lots of mysteries to solve. To me, that's what BIONICLE is at its best ... and all of that is in 2009. 183) They should start soon. 194) It would be what is going on in the Matoran universe during the events of 2009. 205) Initially, I was very resistant to make the change we are making -- because it's a risk, we all know that, an the Matoran universe still has a lot of story potential. At the same time, it also has a lot of baggage ... lots of rules, things you can and can't do in story, some of which is left over from 2000-2001 and decisions that were made when no one knew the story would last more than a year. I didn't get to be involved in the initial creation of BIONICLE, I wasn't here then -- but the universe of 2009 I did get to help create, along with the rest of the story team, so I actually feel a more tangible connection to it as a result. And I also know that there isn't the vast division between it and what we have been doing as some people seem to think ... that the revelations of the next story arc tie into and explain fundamental mysteries of the 2001-2008 story. Certain things were established in BIONICLE as facts right from the very beginning, to set up the story -- but we never got into WHY any of these things were so.

1Very nice stuff iVahi. This are practically radio interview quality answers (2a and b, and 5). Very good job.
1QUOTE 2QUOTE 3QUOTE 4Hi greg
5Ok i know they are seperate Kraata powers but is rahi control the same but more powerful version of insect control? I ask this because arent insects still rahi as insects in our planet are still animals. 6Also would ever you consider a toa of rahi control?
71) Insect control is a more focused power, since it deals only with insects. 82) Most likely not anytime soon, simply because I am only in this universe 'til December and really don't need Toa of more elements in the story
92) Ok so is it possible their may be a toa of rahi control and a matoran tribe of that element that we have never met before?
102) Lots of things are possible, Zahaku
11that sounds pretty good, mabe there is a toa of rahi control out there 12also that sounds like there will not be toa in 09. See answer to 2

13Actually, I think Greg means that he doesn't need to add another new element to the story this year.
1I seem to recall Greg saying it wouldn't be a potential element, because you can't fire focused beams of it out of your hands.

2Well, you can't exactly fire focused plant beams out of your hands, now can you?
3
4Actually, with this scenario you would have plant life (I like to think vines) shooting from the hands of the Toa. With Rahi Control you couldn't shoot a beam of Rahi, as that is ridiculous, and how exactly can you shoot Rahi Control? I just don't think it is a logical element.

5If it's possible for a toa of Plant Life to shoot vines out of his hands, then wouldn't it be equally possible for a Toa of Rahi to shoot a stream of small insects (like from MoL the Movie) towards an enemy?
6
1Is it possible that Toa will be in next year's story, or "new" heroes, because it is a new universe, they may not know what Toa are or cll them something else.

7Well, a Toa of Plant Life can create, control, and absorb plant life. You cannot create or absorb Rahi Control...

1Hey Greg . 2Here's one question, hope you can anwser it.
31.) The BB's Map is the center sphere the Bionicle Planet and the two smaller ones around it the moon and a satelliate?
4Also I know you are racked with a million questions a day and that you are usually busy, because of these PM's or work, so here's some apperciation.
5You truly, are an amazing person, you toil day and night, with the stress of work and fan mail and mantaining a personal life. It must be hard. You worked hard to tell the stories of the Toa. So thank you very much. Even from all the BZPers, who don't show.
6~Zexion
71) Nope. 82) You're welcome, Zexion, thank you for the kind words.
1Setwise, does 2009 have anything familiar to us? My concern is that it may not be compatable, or perhaps that they will be so completely alien, that we might feel betrayed. Not that I have no confidence in the designers or anything like that, but I just had the thought and figured I'd ask to be sure.
2Thanks, ---DSV---
3No, I don't think they are so far removed that it is going to feel like a completely different toy line or anything. That wouldn't have worked with our story anyway.
11. Are Hahli and Elheks protosteel weapons handheld or part of their anatomy?
22. Since Krika was mutated the worst since he went into the swamp first could Bitil not have went into the swamp long enough to get a mutation power and that's why he doesn't have one/
33. Will you reveal anything special to the people that come to the library in Willimantic like you did last time? 43. A: If so, then what?
51) Ehlek's are part of his anatomy, I don't believe Hahli's is 62) Could be 73) I may, yes, just don't know what yet. Usually, I decide when I'm there.

1Hi there Greg.
21) Just as confirmation, Vican was enlarged by the energies in Karda Nui, correct? 31a) If so, does that mean all the beings in Karda Nui including the Nuva and Makuta are enlarged? 41b) If yes to 1a, does that mean the Nuva and Makuta are the same size as Takanuva?
52) On this page of Amazon.com, it appears to be an entry of the Young Level Reader 3. What's puzzling me, however, is the description on the page which reads:
6The Glatorian Vastus has always been a fighter who believes that being a fighter is really about is having the best moves, being the fastest, being the most agile or knowing the best tricks. Then he goes on a search for a legendary scroll.
7Along the way he encounters moments where his tricks aren't enough, and he begins to doubt himself. But when he finds the scroll, he discovers that it does contain a secret on it -- and it is that the best fighter is the one with the courage to keep going even when his skills desert him. Vastus heads back to his village, wiser for the adventure.
8Is this quote true? If so, can you shed some light as to what it means and who the character is?
9Thanks.
10~ Bioran
111) No, he wasn't. Vican is not an Av-Matoran, and only beings of light are affected in that way by KN's energies. Vican was enlarged due to Mutran's mutations.
122) First off, there is no character named Vastus in the book. Secondly, as with the Journey of Takanuva, it is a side story, not related to main story for 2009. And third, it is a 2009 Level 3 reader, meaning I cannot discuss it now, anymore than I can discuss anything related to 2009.

15Amazon isn't really reliable. Remember Akua Nui?
1QUOTE 21. You said Rockoh's projectile launcher could possibly be a prototype midak sky blaster, so is it? 32. Are the T# vehicles weapons and armor made of protosteel?
41) Sure 52) Yes

8Yay . Prototype Midak .
9What's cool is the Phantoka can ram the Makuta to destroy their armour but not them. Cool .
1Hello, Mr. Farshtey. I have two questions regarding the klakk:
21) Is the klakk the BM exclusive Rahi?
32) Did the Makuta bring any klakk with them to Karda Nui?
4Thank you .
5-TNTOS-
61) Yes 72) Not with them, no
8So it looks like the klakk is the BM exclusive Rahi after all. I had my suspicions, but now I know for sure.

15Hey, that's a great find, Bioran . Greg didn't deny the existence of the book, he just said that the main character wasn't named Vastus. Very interesting... 16-Cressona

1QUOTE 2Hello Mr. Farshtey. Just some questions...
31. If the Staff of Artakha repaired the damage the Great Cataclysm made, then the Pit dome is now in one piece again, correct?
42. You said once, that the water gets pump out to the ocean from the Pit dome. But what about the water-breathers? I don't think everybody will get a water-breathing apparatus... 5My theory is that in the cells, the water remains. Is it correct?
63. How can Hydraxon imprison someone in the Pit, when he and the prisoners are in the ocean's floor, and the dome is repaired? How can he bring them back to the Inner Pit? 7Maybe Botar/Botar's replacement teleports them back?
8And some questions about writing:
94. You said once to me, that "If you do a good job creating a character -- any character -- then that character will have things he wants, things he needs, things he hates, things he would love to do and things he would never do." How you usually creates a character? You take those five aspects (want, need, hate, love, never do) and fill them, or how? How do you start building up a personality?
105. I read in the OGD, that you first write the end of a book, and you start it with no outline, you just give free hand to the events. Can you explain how do you do that?
11Thanks
121) Correct 132) Some accomodation is going to have to be made -- it may make sense to let the water back in, since Hydraxon is a water-breather as well 143) He has to make a way in 154) To be honest, I do it through dialogue. I tried once doing that whole "write a profile of a character" thing beforehand, didn't work for me. I don't know who the character is until I start writing about him or her and they start talking. For example, I once did a book, the second in a series, in which the main character was supposed to fall in love with this woman. I wanted him to do it, it was part of my story idea, but he wouldn't do it. I kept writing scenes where it was supposed to happen and yet it never did, because he was still too hung up on the character he loved from the first book (who had died). Took a really long time to write that book because I was trying to force him to do something he didn't want to do, instead of respecting him as a character. 165) Once in a while, I will write the end first, not all the time. Usually, I do that for the last book of the year, because I know that I am going to need room for the ending. Sometimes, if I write it from the beginning, I get to the end and don't have enough space for the ending as it should be told, so I either have to rush through it or go back and cut. So it's easier to just write the ending first, and then go back and start from the beginning (or if I am bored, write the whole book backwards).
17As for outlines, I don't believe in them. Yes, they can make it faster to do a book, but it also makes it mechanical. In Chapter 3, A will do this to B, and C will do this to A ... and because it's in your outline, that's what you do -- even though by Chapter 3, A is not a character who would do that and C hates B more than A. Your characters grow and develop as you write, and you need to be sensitive to those changes. You can write an okay book with an outline, but you are running your characters like rats through a maze and you will never form a real connection with them.
18One trick I do use is to always stop writing when I have an idea what is going to happen next -- that way, when I sit down again, I can get started right away. I also never plan how to get out of traps before I get the heroes into them -- that way, the panic they feel matches the panic I feel smile.gif smile.gif

1Hi Greg. Hope you're not too busy; and congrats on the new house. Happy early B-day too. Anywho, couple questions for you today:
21) You know how Matoran all have resistances or ablilities that manifest themselves depending on their element? IE: Ta-Matoran have a resistance to heat, Onu-Matoran can see in the dark fairly well, etc. Well, do you havea ny idea what it could be for Plant Life Matoran? 31a) If not, may I suggust resistance to natural toxins be their ability? 41b) Speaking of elements, do you think you have room to name any more this year, or not?
52) Is there a storyline reason why Takanuva's Avohkii changed shape? 62a) If not, could it be that the energies of the core altered it the same way that they altered his body? Such as making it a bit bigger, and changing it's shape?
73) This isn't really a question, but if you have the room for Axalara, get it. I got mine in the mail yesterday, and it's huge. Nice build, looks great... and you got to love those functions. I really like it overall, so you won't be dissapointed.
8BTW, thank you for all you do on here, and for lego in general. I'm sure you've heard it before, but if not for you... we'd be lost. You dedicate so much of your time to us here at BZpower, answering questions and all, it really deserves a better thanks. We need to have a National BZP Greg day, or something. And, if you ever feel stressed out, don't fell bad if you need to leave. You shuld take a vacation - trust me, you earned it. Hope you're doing alright with all the work you got too; it sounds like you really are doing a lot.
9Oh, I hope you don't mind me asking, but is your wife doing better? I remember she wasn't doing so hot a while ago, so I hope she's up and running again.
10Thanks again for everything you do here; there's no way I can begin to tell you how much I- we, sorry, appreciate it.

121) Haven't given it any thought, since there are no such Matoran appearing in story 131b) I don't foresee a need to name any more this year 142) That's certainly possible 153) I most likely will get it once we are moved into the new house and I have room for stuff. 164) Thanks, Hydrobius. Jackina is feeling better, yes -- I am down with a cold now though.
17Hm... well, good to know his wife's doing better. But now he has a cold. Poor guy. >.< 18Oh, looks like we aren't getting any more new matoran names either... dang. XD

19Aww...No more Matoran. 20I hope Greg gets well soon.
1Dear Mr Farshtey. I was hoping you answer some questions
21. Out of all the toa we have ever seen, which individual one had the most skill with there element
32. what are the summer serials gonna be called (each one) 42b. when will they be released
54. Does adaptive amor regenerate Nynrah bullets
6Darth matrix, Frozen in Carbonite
71) No idea. 82) I haven't decided yet, but they should start this month 93) Why do you assume that? 104) No. There are no "bullets" involved in those weapons. 115) Yes

24) To be honest, I do it through dialogue.
3What Greg said it ture. In my epic (You should read it), I tried to make Kopaka say goodbye to Tahu. It was hard, so I made him shake instead.
42. You said once, that the water gets pump out to the ocean from the Pit dome. But what about the water-breathers? I don't think everybody will get a water-breathing apparatus... 5My theory is that in the cells, the water remains. Is it correct? 62) Some accomodation is going to have to be made -- it may make sense to let the water back in, since Hydraxon is a water-breather as well
7When did he say that?
1Hey Greg,
21.) In the OGD, it sounded like you said Elemental Kanohi run out of juice eventually. Is this true? Or did you mean Kanoka, not Kanohi?
3Thanks a lot
41) Masks do too. It just takes a really, really, REALLY long time and a great deal of use for that to happen. But the energy in a mask is not infinite.
5So I wonder how the Mask fo Creation is doing after 100,000 years.... Could he use the Mask to tell him how to make another?

7But the power of, lets say, a Huna is not infinite either.
1QUOTE 2Dear Greg I will bother you with only 4 questions all having to do with vultraz's extra midak holder.
31) does vultraz create the midaks in the storage area?
42) Do the midaks get transferred to the blaster, or are they for other uses?
53) What so special about shadow midaks? Are they really cold?
64) Can Vultraz use the extra compartment for midaks kind of like a bomb compartment? ie: He opens it and flips upside down to drop them like bombs.
7-Draco
81) No 92) They're used in the blaster 103) Shadow is a very powerful and destructive force 114) No

1Hey, uh, guys, I think I found something on the bios on Bionicle.com. I know that this isn't the right place to post it, but i PMed Greg a minute ago about it. 2"Although he does not start out with an extra power, Mazeka is a skilled combatant - hand to hand or in an air battle." 3Does this mean what I think it means?
4EDIT: Actually, I didn't send it, seeing as Greg's inbox is FULL .
