2Yes

2010) Don't know, but I can't see them ever being published. One, they were not written for public view, so there are mentions of other movies and such (as points of reference) that LEGO Company does not hold rights to. There are also things in there that we later opted not to include as part of canon. So I can't see why the company, which owns them, would want to publish them.

1The mask of life seems to have very polarizing morality. It was the device that saved Mata Nui's life, yet, it also took the life of a benevolant soul, and on top of this, ruined the minds of many, including one of its own creators (granted, those people kinda had it coming for touching it, but I wouldn't say they really deserved it).

2If the mask is sentient, I ask this: 1. If it were to detect on its own that Mata Nui was dying, why not outright create a body for itself and dive into Karda Nui to open the codrex on its own? Surely it was capable of eradicating any opposition. Or was it truly just uninspired to do anything before it made Matoro sacrifice himself?

3If so what a lazy bum of a mask Joking

42. If it wanted to do what was described in 1 would being stuck to Vezon's head of affected its ability to go save Mata Nui on its own?

53. Does the mask require somebody willingly put it on before the Ignika can sacrifice anybody? i.e. If it knew that it wouldn't reach Karda Nui in time to save the Great Spirit (robot), why not take the life of someone worthless? Like any of the Barraki, or Piraka, etc. instead of Matoro?

6Obviously if the Ignika were to do any of these alternatives, we wouldn't have the storylines of 06-08. But still, it's a line of thought that's worth debunking.

71) It was designed to be a mask, not a superhero, number one. And as we saw, Matoro's energy was needed to bring Mata Nui back -- just the mask would not have done it.

82) It couldn't have saved Mata Nui on its own, so the point is moot.

93) If it wasn't in Karda Nui, there would be no point to anyone sacrificing themselves. Somebody dying in the Pit wasn't going to to help Mata Nui any. And I think for the sacrifice to work, it had to be done freely, because it was essentially a merging with the mask, if only temporarily.

1As far as "set design trumps logic" goes, the simpler statement is that story follows set design. Sets were made first, story crafted after, and story only existed to promote set sales.

2My childhood is ruined.

3Look at it this way: all Greg (and any other writers that were teamed up with him) had to do was write a children's story to promote the Bionicle toys. Instead of doing something simple (like some other toy stories we're witnessing) he (and any others who deserve credit) created an amazing story that not only served to make you buy the sets, but was so amazing that teenagers (and possibly even young adults) are still talking about it to this day. Were it not for the brilliance of the G1 Bionicle team, your childhood would be very different.

4Or, to put it another way ... that great TV show you watch each week might be fun and entertaining, but it's still on because it gets good ratings and therefore the station can charge a lot for commercials and the people watching go buy the products advertised. Content creation is expensive and for all that money to go out there has to be some hope of money coming back in.

1Hey Greg, is it still possible for a Toa stone to work on Spherus Magna?

1Hey.

  1. 2Would it be feasible to assume that Piruk's Shredder Claws were made from protosteel? What about the other weapons of the Voya Nui Matoran?
  2. 3Did Karzahni make the weapons he gave the Voya Nui Matoran? This seems to imply he does have creative skill, just not in repairing Matoran.
  3. 4When it's said Artakha and Karzahni "fought" for the Mask of Creation. Was that a literal battle or did they have a contest? You'd think they'd have a contest in creation to earn such a mask.
  4. 5I read that Karzahni periodically rebuilds himself. Does skill at rebuilding himself simply not translate to repairing the Matoran? Or did he slowly develop the skill and simply not use it on the Matoran in his insanity?
  5. 6Could Artakha repair Matoran? Was he aware of what was happening on Karzahni? If yes to both, shouldn't he have offered some help? If yes only to the latter, shouldn't he have intervened?

10So there is a certain range within which the Ignika can use sacrifices to save other beings?

1I have a theory on why Karzahni went insane. My reasons are below, but will probably need to be covered in two posts. It would be much appreciated if you could look over the theory, and give your thoughts on them. Cheers.

21. The Olisi is one of a kind, and very powerful. Only the great beings know how to make another. Who truly understands it, and knows how it works. It would also make sense to entrust it to a being considered benevolent, wise and of vital importance.

32. To be able to get all of it's visions, it would need to constantly be on scanning the future. Somewhat similar to the Suletu it would always be active at a low level. After a while you would stop noticing this, but that doesn't mean the your unconscious mind isn't recieving the information.

43. Karzahni wouldn't always have been terrible at his job. He's one of the oldest beings in the MU, and performed what would have been considered a vital function. If he started malfunctioning straight away the GB's would have had plenty of time to replace him or fix him up before th GSR left Spherus Magna. They didn't which means the issue probably occurred after lift-off, or a very short time before, in the final rush to finish the project.  He is also able to rebuild himself, proving he is not as great a failure as he sees himself to be.

54. Wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey things are always dangerous. Other beings who had visions of the future were always somewhat negatively affected by the mental strain of seeing these visions.

65. The matoran he botched and sent to Voya Nui were sent the same year that the GSR took off, and was having much construction done on it overseen by the GB's. As Velika was one of that number, they were obviously sent late in that year, just before or soon after the MU left SM, meaning Karzahni's problem would have occured late.

7To be continued...

1Karzahni Insanity theory Part 2.

26. Construction of the GSR would have had to have taken multiple years, even with thousands of machies constantly working on it. We know the matoran did most of the construction, and Karzahni is older than them. He also would have had to be there to repair them as long as they had been working. This would give the Olisi at least 3 years (estimated) to work its magic.

3* on an earlier note Biosector1 states the matoran of Karzahni were sent to Voya Nui over 100, 000 years ago, however despite this being canon, I would dispute it for the sake of my theory. It was the very beginning of the universe, so dates would be muddled, and as stated earlier, I fell the GB's would have corrected these mistakes unless it was too close to launch day and they'd run out of time.

47. As Tren Krom had sapience prior to Velika's tinkering, Artakha and Karzahni may also have had some level, nescessary in order to correctly perform their duties, which would require some level of culture and imagination. Full scale Sapience may have come with the rest of the MU, however it makes sense they had some level prior. I f so the full effects of Karzahni's insanity may have only come to fruition with his greater ability to feel emotions.

58. A loss as great as karzahni's to his brother would stick in your head. If the Olisi was always on, with these thoughts of failure underlying Karzahni's mind, then the Olisi would have fed him visions of futures, ones in which he had one, of how great it could have been, what he could have achieved. These thoughts corrupt you after a time, leading to bitterness, depression and anger. Enough to try and conquer the MU. Who care that Karzahni was brilliant in his own right (proved by his tactical and military ability, his ability to craft weapons, and repair himself, and the defenses he built into his domain). The mask is always brighter on the other face.

69. If your'e busy sulking, you tend not to look after things or focus properly. TBC.

1Karzahni Theory Part 3

29. (cont.) You start to make mistakes, and feeling a miserable old sod you feel even worse about yourself, and start thinking you're terrible at what you do, so you try less and less. If the big K made a few mistakes repairing matoran, he'd continue a downwards spiral believing himself a failure, and thusly stop trying to repair his underlings. It would also explain why his territory is a wreck and he tries to make everybody else miserable. When you're feeling terrible, you want everybody else to feel terrible as well.

3Summed up, I believe Karzahni went insane, because the Olisi fed him visions of 'better' futures, and he was unable to work because he was a bit of a cry-baby, and let these things get the better of him. I believe this would add more depth to his character, so please tell me what you think. I'm sorry it took so long, but I felt I needed to try articulating things properly.

4By the way, 777Stairs posted about the poll on the TSO/ Conjurer and Ancient/ Tyrant species consolidation, on around page 799, and I think you should have a look at it, as I believe it would be benficial to overall Universe to confirm.

5On a personal note, thanks for your time Greg, it means a lot to all of your fans (me included) that you're willing to take the time to interact with us and show your love for the story you created. Bionicle, and the story you formed for it was my childhood, and played a large role in my life, in part moulding me into who I am today, and inspiring me to be who I am. I know I will never forget what Bionicle has done for me, and it will continue to be part of who I am forever. So thank-you. Have a good year.

6 To the other fans of the franchise out there, if Greig is unsure about my theory, I would appreciate it if one you would be able to do a poll on whether people think it should be confirmed, like the aforementioned one on species consolidation. (I would set up the poll myself, however I'd have no idea how). Thank-you very much.

  1. 1Was the Muaka's taste for Rahkshi a deliberate design by whatever Makuta created the species?
  2. 2Will Rahi populations be sustainable without Makuta creating more of them?
  3. 3Did the Skakdi have legends of Irnakk before their alteration by Spiriah?
  4. 4Was it Spiriah's destiny to turn the Skakdi into what they are?
  5. 5Assuming the Skakdi build new Skakdi in the same way Matoran (or Turaga) build new Matoran, were the Skakdi deliberately avoiding creating new Skakdi with the pre-experiment model or did Spiriah also mess up their knowledge on how to build themselves?
  6. 6If Skakdi deliberately build themselves in the post experiment model, was the elemental powers only in cooperation deliberately perpetuated to force some sort of loyalty to each other? Was that perhap's Spiriah's intention?
  7. 7If I recall correctly, you've said there are about half a dozen Skakdi warlords. So six. Would they be the six primary elements?
  8. 8Would Skakdi divide themselves along elemental lines like Matoran do?
  9. 9The Piraka managed to convince the Matoran of Voya Nui that they were Toa. Since Matoran tranforming into Toa having armour resembling what they assume a toa to look like, would it be possible for a Toa to end up, at least vaguely, like a Skakdi?
  10. 10Are their any more species beyond Matoran/Toa/Turaga and the Skakdi that may have any one of the whole spectrum of elements?
  11. 11Skakdi do have the full spectrum of elements, right? Like plasma and psionics?
  12. 12Assuming question 11 is a yes, since the Makuta culled all the Toa of Iron and Magnetism, would they have made similar efforts among the Skakdi population? If question 10 is a yes, would the Makuta and culled those species' irons and magnetics too?
