11a- While I can not find a source for this, on the Brickipedia page for the Kraatu, it says "BIONICLE story team member Greg Farshtey suggested that the Kraatu could possibly be a puppet that the Matoran of Metru Nui used for recreation." Do you recall having said this?

21b- If so, would you say it's canon?

32a- Is Raanu older than the Great Beings?

42b- Was Certavus older than the GBs?

53- Since the boards are soon closing down, I wanted to ask this one more time - Do you have an estimate for how many Glatorian are alive in the Agori/Matoran society after the battle between Mata Nui and Teridax. Or atleast if it's less or more than the Toa (if you don't remember, you said there are a little over 40 active Toa in the present).

6Cheers

7Ok, maybe I shoul have said this in the previous message, but if you don't remember.
8The Kraatu was an unreleased promotional polybag set from 2004 with 20 pieces used to make 4-legged creature, presumably a Rahi. It had a tail which it could use to throw Kanoka disks. The set number was 8026.

1 Who would be able to control steam, a Toa of Water, Air or Fire?2Also, how exactly does a Toa of light's ability to move at light speed work? Does he run or just sort of teleport? Do his reflexes adjust to this so he see where and in what direction he is traveling in? Can he change direction at such speeds?

1Hello Greg,

2I found a contradiction on those two Glatorian bodies found in Dwellers In Darkness in two sets of quotes of yours. Note that I replaced a certain verb because I can't use it on the boards.

3These are from 2009:4“Q) Will we find out why there were the dead bodies inside of Mata Nui’s head at the end of this story arc,[...]?5A) I can tell you why now. They were intended to be pilots, and they died in the Great Cataclysm.”6Follow up:7“Q) [...] Could you please elaborate on their role?8A) They were there in case something went wrong. If there was damage to Mata Nui’s systems, there would need to be a manual takeover. Unfortunately, the damage was so pervasive and so fast that they couldn’t stop its progression and they died in the crash.”9But they were contradicted by these in 2014:10“Q) In Dwellers In Darkness when the Toa Hagah, Miserix, and Zaktan are inside Mata Nui’s brain, they find two corpses [...] Were they Glatorians? If so why were they there?11A) Yes. They were the pilots for the initial launch and were supposed to eject at a certain point, but things didn’t work out that way.”12Follow up:13“Q) I’m assuming [they died because of] the great cataclysm?14A) I actually think they died long before then. Their job was just to get the robot in the air and pointed in the right direction, to be simplistic about it, not to pilot it through the entire mission.”15Follow up:16“Q) So what went wrong? Why didnt they eject?17A) Well, we have to figure on one of two reasons:181) The eject mechanism failed, or...192) Something disabled to [caused their deaths] them before they got a chance to use it.
20I would vote for #2, myself.”
21Wich set of quotes has the correct facts? I imagine the first one takes precedence, but I just wanted to be sure. Also, if the second set is the right one, who or what caused their deaths?

22I think this was buried

1Hi Greg,2These should be part 1 of 2 of the last questions I have for you, though I have the feeling that just as I'll click on “post” I’m gonna think about another thousand of them =P
31) You once suggested that maybe the reason Vakama didn’t know his mask power despite being a Mask Maker migh have been because it was a Kanohi acquired in trade wich was not Metru Nui-styled. In fact, the Metru are the only Metru Nui Matoran shown in visual media having great-shaped versions of their Kanohi, and all the other Matoran who have those Kanohi in the shape of their noble versions. So, what if the reason that Vakama didn’t know his mask power and those of his brothers was that all of them were acquired in trade and were not in the usual style of Metru Nui? Are you fine with this being the official explanation?42) You said that the GBs came from different tribes. Can we say that at least one Glatorian from each tribe that was still active when they started ruling SM was a GB? Excluding the Rock Tribe because they didn’t have Glatorian species members.53) Velika would punish the Earth Tribe if he took over SM, right?64) If Q3 is correct, when you say that Velika might want to recruit the ELs as lieutenants, that does not include the ELoE, right?75) You once said that part of Velika’s plan involved the zombified MU inhabitants on the RS, (page 775, post 3) could you elaborate on that?86) By one of your recent answers, it seems that Annona has no gender, and that people can see “her” both as male and female. This seems to contradict some of your earlier answers, in wich you said that Annona was in fact female. So, for clarification, is “she” genderless or female?97) Did Mata Nui ever observe a specimen of Annona’s species during his travels?108) Just for confirmation, was the Fire Entity made with viruses and protodermis, and does it have at least some biomechanical componenents?

1Hey, Greg. Here are a few questions of my own as well as those of some friends on the Custom Bonkle Wiki:

21. Is Tobduk’s species divided into seven tribes based on their Emotional Powers or the seven basic emotions (anger, contempt, fear, disgust, happiness, sadness, and surprise) with subtribes and sub-subtribes being the more specific emotions?

32. Was the intended purpose of the Krana to perhaps ensure total obedience/override existing objectives in early Matoran laborers? If so how did the Awakening affect this programming?

43. Can the Kanohi Rau allow the bearer to interpret a subject's body language in any capacity?

54. Can you in fact confirm that Nuhrii carved both Jaller's and Kopeke's Kanohi Komaus and that his poor craftsmanship was the reason they both cracked?

65. Where do the Masks on Karzahni come from?

76. Can the Spear of Fusion serve as an alternative way to create Toa Kaita?

87. When reading through the Bara Magna saga, it's hard not to recognise the typically western struggle between civilization and the wilderness. As a writer, did you take influence from any Westerns?

1Just wondering - Would the MU have a smaller measurement than bio? Not suggesting it should be named or given an exact value or anything, it just seems weird that the smallest measurement is 4.5 feet - unless they say "That Toa Stone 0.4 bio long" - it would make sense that there is some way to measure the size of smaller objects.

2Also, I stumbled across some pictures of rahi that were not included in "Rahi Beasts" but were still winners (With certificate for proof). Do you know what the situation is regarding these? They're not mentioned anywhere (One looked distinctly like a large lobster, for example - we're not talking about the rock lion here) and it's unclear whether they simply got cut like Phantom did, didn't send The LEGO Group proper authorization, or simply didn't qualify for as high a tier of prize.

1On the scroll of preparations, there are a few tasks that are oddly specific to the situation that the universe was in. Given that it was created by the great beings, how is it that the tasks the nuva had to do were so specific? (for example, they had to retrieve the heart of the visorak, which we know was so the order of mata nui could use it to have the mahri destroy the horde. but the visorak weren't created for many years after the great beings were gone and the robot launched, so how could the scroll of preparations have that listed as an item that needed to be done?

2Two things -- one, as scientsts, the Great Beings were able to forecast probabilities. Also, Mata Nui's creation of the Makuta was a result of the GB's programming him with the plans for them, and most likely the idea of the Visorak came from the GBs too.

3Could not all this "retrieve the Hearth of the Visorak" thing be explained by the fact that someone would have added this task on the scroll after realized Visorak's dangerosity? As the OoMN or Velika, maybe?

1Hello Mr. Farshtey,
21) Does Tahu wears the Golden Armor over his Adaptive Armor? In other words, does the GA connects itself over Tahu's AA?
32a) Initially, the Makoki Stone was a tablet. After being passed from one hand to another, cut in six pieces and used by the Rahaga and the Turaga of Mata Nui as keys (for the Avohkii's cache and the entrace to Mangaia), the Makoki Stone could be assembled as a sphere. Do you know which characters have carved the Stone's pieces like that?4My guess would be that the Rahaga had designed the six pieces like simple flat keys, and then the Turaga of Mata Nui would had polished the pieces in order to be able to assemble them in a sphere capable of opening the particular lock of the Kini Nui entrace to Mangaia.
52b) After all it's been through, is there actually some original informations about the Brotherhood of Makuta that remain on the Makoki Stone pieces?
63) During the Karda Nui Saga, the Toa Nuva made a mental link with a Matoran each time the two connected themselves via the Adaptive Armor, resulting in an instant sharing of memories. Since this ability is fairly similar to the Toa capacity of forging a mental link with a being (only shown with Gali and Takua in 2001's and 2008's story), it does make me wonder something.7Does the Adaptive Armor enhance this natural Toa capacity of making a mental link with someone, making it automatic?8It would make sense that AAs are equipped with such a thing: since AAs are conceived to facilitate Toa's job, know all about the situation in which you have to save people in just one mental connection seems to be very helpful.9Moreover, it's exactly what happend when the Av-Matoran Tanma accidentally connected to Lewa's Adaptive Armor: the Toa of Air became aware of all the problems in Karda Nui in one instant.

11) My belief is that Velika hoped to build an army using the inhabitants of the MU. Paired with those Glatorian/Agori aggrieved with the GBs, he would have a real shot of overthrowing the Great Beings.

22) I didn't have additional plans for it. Had the story continued, I am virtually certain it would not have shown up in 2010 or 2011, but maybe after that, not sure.

33) RS is designed to teleport to and from the MU. With the MU gone, it's not going to be able to function as it has.

44) It would have to be something completely different. It's like asking would it be possible to hook you up to a car battery to give you energy in the morning. Yes, but it wouldn't be a car battery as we know, though there might be some kinship.

55) Actually, I don't recall if I ever said what Takanuva's destiny was going to be. I may have said it involved the civil war, but I don't recall saying he would stop it.

64. My understanding is that while Great Beings don't have any powers of their own -- I'm certain they can find or invent the tech to replicate such powers. e.g. by incorporating it into their armor and giving themselves the ability to activate such powers remotely. So if a Great Being cannot use Kanohi, but wants to use one, I'm certain they could invent a special kind of Kanohi that is compatible for use with their species (Glatorian).

21) No

32) Yes, tech. Just a matter of downloading brain patterns into the Matoran to replace its AI.

41) Could Vellika theoretically re-enter his Glatorian body, create a Toa, and inhabit that Toa?

5With the proper tech, yes, he could download from his original body or his Matoran body. But why bother?

6So is there some reason why Velika might prefer to have his Matoran body? His plan is to openly rule the Spherus Magna society, right? I imagine that would be pretty strange for him to do that while inhabiting a small, badly constructed body (thanks to Karzahni's modifications). So is there some reason why he likes the Matoran body?

7Who pays attention to a Matoran? They pay attention to Toa.

8Well -- to be fair, Turaga pay attention to Matoran Joking but as it is (of course) Vellika A. blends in well with other Matoran and B. has not lived in any Matoran community that possessed a Turaga.

1Voya Nui had Turaga Jovan, he just died in the Great Cataclysm

11. Does the Mask of Time have power outside of the Matoran Universe? What would happen if the Mask of Time were to be destroyed outside the MU?
22. What limits and boundaries does the Mask of Creation have?
33. If a Matoran with a noble-styled Kanohi became a Toa, what mask would he/she have?
44. If you were to create a new team of Toa using only Matoran already existing, who would they be?

55. Why did Lewa already know treespeak upon arriving in Mata Nui? Is treespeak programmed or learned?

6Thanks!

71) No, it doesn't. Think of it like an alarm clock -- put it inside a bomb as a timing device, it's devastating. Take it out and it's just a clock.

82) Undetermined, since we never used it much in the story

93) It would be the same mask they were wearing, but a Great Mask version of it

104) No idea

115) Since it was the language of the Matoran he would represent, it would make sense he was programmed with knowledge of the language

31) The measurements you have are the ones the BIONICLE team created. So I don't know of anything smaller.

42) It is entirely possible that they did not send in their models to get photographed. They had to send them in by a certain date to be able to get into the book.
