1So, according to your answer to my last question, there isn't a storyline reason for the way their masks look?
#737
1Daikunus -- No. I don't feel there are enough of them to make an entire book out of. I mean, you have Umbra, Axonn and Brutaka, Vezon and Fenrakk, Irnakk, the Kardas dragon -- and that's it as far as things that have sets and so could be pictured. Plus if the mask is still on Voya Nui and still being guarded by them after 2006, then the universe is ending.
2Jack15 - Correct. How the masks look is solely based on what the set designer did. Beyond coming up with a storyline reason for why they were made of a different kind of substance, I didn't worry about the more subtle features of them.
#738
1Were you a writer before comming to bionicle?
2Again the same issue, with some arrangements: Is there any way for the vahi to be given life to as a being?
3the disousa
#739
11. Have you ever given the set designers a character that you thought of for them to make a set out of?
22. What was your favorite year of the bionicle story?
33. what is your favorite lego series besides Bionicle?
44. What is your favorite mask power out of all the ones in the story?
55. If you could be a Toa, what element would you want? (Im guessing ice)
#740
1And who is this Karzanni, or something... who is it...???
#741
1Disousa -- With all due respect -- enough with the Vahi question [Smile] Answer's no, not in the official story. And yes, I have been writing professionally since 1987.
2Jack15 - 1) No. Set designers do their work first, story people start work afterward. 2) Probably 2004, because that was the first year I got to do novels. 3) Probably Batman. 4) For me personally to use, it would be flight or concealment. 5) Really tough question. I think Gravity.
3Toa -- There have been two beings named Karzahni. The first is the ruler of a realm where, many thousands of years ago, damaged Matoran or Matoran who were bad workers were sent for repair, never to return (BIONICLE Legends #2). The second was Makuta's first attempt at an intelligent plant creature, who was named after the first. Makuta chose not to use it, and later killed the plant in BIONICLE Adventures #10.

1oh boy, here's a toughie...
2are the stars in the Bionicle world really stars as we know them, or are they just pinpoints of light that move around when someone powerful enough comands them too?
#743
1Moonflower -- Not that tough, actually. The stars above Mata Nui and Voya Nui are stars like you and I know stars. The stars above Metru Nui are NOT stars like you and I know them -- exactly what they are has yet to be revealed in the story.
#744
1hmm...ok, then...does ice have any control at all over water? or vise versa?
#745
1Is "Umbra" an actual Matoran word? Or is it a real-world word that has been translated for our convenience?
2If it is Matoran, what does it mean? Does it refer to the same thing as the real-world word does?
3Thank you.
#746
1Wil there ever be a matoran translator released?
#747
1I can answer Lewa Man's question:
2Umbra is a Latin word meaning 'total shadow'.
#748
1Moonflower -- No. That might not seem logical, but if you are going to have a Toa of Ice and a Toa of Water, then one of them becomes redundant if you let the other control both elements.
2Bepura is correct.
3Kardas -- There already are Matoran alphabet translators on the web someplace. As far as some sort of a Matoran dictionary goes, I can't see that making sense. Not enough words have been created to fill a dictionary, and every new one we make up has to get legal checked to the tune of several thousand dollars. So it would be too expensive to develop a book like that, I think.
#749
1Yes, I understand it is a word in our world (Considering I said, quote, "Does it refer to the same thing as the real-world word does?").
2I'm asking whether or not "Umbra" is spelled the same and has the same meaning in Matoran. Or is it another of those convenient Matoran to English translations?
#750
1Greg are there any nasty bionicle words?
2like swear words but in bionicle.
3like in harry potter, half bloods get called mud bloods.
#751
1Umbra basically does mean the same in Matoran as in English -- if you wanted to plant a guard and convince those of evil intent that he was one of them, what better thing to do than name him after darkness?
2TKI -- So far, we have not seen a lot of that in BIONICLE. A little, not a lot.
#752
1Piraka is close to swearing, I think.
2Is the bionicle world infinite?
#753
11)If water and ice are seperate powers (solid and liquid of the same substance), is it possible to have stone and magma as seperate powers?
22) Can you tell me the names of the Inika's tools?
Last Edit: by Bepura
#754
11) Kardas - No, no universe is infinite.
2Bepura - 1) Possible, yes, but not planned. 2) Not at the moment, it's quarter to seven in the morning and I just got up. All this info will be in the magazine that mails next week.
#755
11.Storylinewise, are the Toa Olda and the Toa Metru identical? (Except for masks and tools?)
22. In the Toa-Dark Hunter War, were there different types of Toa?
33. Is there anything you can tell us about the ancient evil that we don't know?
44. Somewhere on these forums(I think), you said that the claw end of Hakann's Lava Launcher can cut through anything and shoot electricity. Can Zaktan's claw end do anything special?
55. You said before that Thok's and Hakann's weapons tap into their elemental powers to function. Does Vezok's Buzzsaw that shoots water daggers tap into his?
66. Do all members of the Piraka's species have a vision power and an "other"(Vezok's power absorbtion, Hakann's Mental blasts, etc.)?
77. Will BL#4 tell how the Piraka recieved their Elemental Powers?
88. Can the Aki and the Rua(masks worn by Toa Kaita) be made as regular toa masks
99.If the Toa Inika borrowed a mask from another Toa, would they turn into an Organic Mask for the time that the said Inika was wearing it?
1010.Even though Umbra's Ruru is power;less, could he wear a great mask and use its power?
1111. Did the Toa Nuva ever find all 36 Kanohi Nuva? If so, why don't they have Golden Kanohi Nuva?
12Thanks for answering.

11) In terms of size, yes.22) Not sure what you mean by different types. There were many different teams represented.33) No. Not on here to spoil the story.44) Not that I recall offhand.55) Yes66) I can't say yes, simply because Zaktan does not have an "other."77) No. The Atlas will.88) No.99) No. The masks they wore were affected by the lightning. Every mask the Inika touch or wear is not going to turn organic.1010)No.1111) They did find them, but the Kanohi Nuva did not lead to golden masks the way the original Kanohi did. Since the Toa Nuva can share mask powers, they techically already have access to whatever power they need whenever they need it as long as they are near each other.

1greg, is the giant piraka head in the piraka stronghold set supposed to resemble the netrakk?
#758
1What's a netrakk?
#759
1the robotic guardian of the piraka stronghold in bl3
#760
1What I meant by types of Toa:
2Toa Nuva, Toa Metru, Toa Inika, all are different in some way.
3Was there different types in the Toa dark hunter war?
#761
1Which issue will hakkan appear in again?
#762
11) Ah, that's a Nektann. Answer's no.
22) The only grouping that is really different there, Jack, is Toa Nuva because they are beyond normal Toa. The others only have cosmetic differences. And obviously there were no Toa Nuva in the war.
33) #3

1Greg, if I ask you, could you tell me a few Matoran words? I need to know the Matoran word for elmental.
2^TZK^
#765
1Toa Kongu Inika -- I know nothing about that. There is a game called BIONICLE Heroes out later this year, but it does not involve all three islands to my knowledge. And I have not heard anything about a BIONICLE World game. Since it is on Wiki, and not BS01 Wiki, it is most likely just bogus. BS01 Wiki is pretty accurate, regular Wiki is full of nonsense.
2Zeo - We don't have a Matoran dictionary here -- we just make up the words as we need them. So there is no extant Matoran word for elemental.

1Is the Bionicle:dark hunters guide supposed to be out?
#767
1Greg, if two Toa were to merge together, would it still be called a Kaita, or would it be something else? If it is something else, could you tell me what it's called?
2^TZK^
#768
1Toa Zeo of Ice, I can actually answer this one. One member of the BS01 Wiki once asked him this, which I guessed from prior knowledge:
2Kaita is three, Nui is six. Two Toa is possible, but there isn't a given name for it. It's not something Greg has time to think up .
3So it would be called something else, but it doesn't have a name right now. Unknown if it ever will.

1VNM - Yes, DH Guide has been out for a while. I bought one at a Barnes and Noble at least four to six weeks ago.

1You mean, you don't get it free?
2you wrote the book, but you don't get a free copy?
3I can't understand that.
