Maybe he literally was struck down by Makuta, and that caused an earthquake. Anyway, if his body id that big, it is either in a really obvios place, or his own personal dome.

10A while back I had a wackyer theory that The Matoran Universe was Mata Nui's Brain, But Greg Denied it. It still makes sense, wit new information. The Planet is his head, since who would want a growth on their head? And the brain still works, but not at full capacity when sleeping, and the cataclysm happened due to him falling down.
