1. Bionicle: New World will you make it canon?

2. Will it connect to Spherus Magna?

3. What will the new toa team serial be called.
3a. The new protagonist serial?

4. Did you get your new name list yet?

1) The plan is that they will do story contests and I will read the winning entries, as I do on BZP. The difficulty is that they are planning a LOT of contests, and I have very limited time so I may not be able to help with all of them.
2) That's not the plan, no. This is an alien world, it does not have Great Beings, Agori, Glatorian, Toa, Matoran, etc.
3) No idea
4) Nope

Hello Greg I really enjoyed RoS chapter 11 and I sent many minutes pondering the mysteries it brought on so I have a couple queries

1. Will the new sahmads tale be up this week or next week?

2. Was the thing that struck Xia due to the battle of terry and MN?
2a. If not did TSO mutate and cause the problem?

3. Will the gold thing be named?

4. Will the next chapter of RoS be longer than normal due to all the plots to be resolved?

5. Will Alt Terry and Mazeka appear?

6. Could you possible put Hydraxon and Lessvikk back in story sometime? For they are two of my favorite characters

7. Will the Tahu and onua thing be resolved in RoS?

8. Just a suggestion but did you guys ever consider Arsmak as a name for the new list?

Thank you for you time sir

1) Next week
2) Yes
3) I have no approved BIONICLE names at the moment
4) We'll see, it's not written yet
5) See answer to #4
6) I'll see what I can do
7) What Tahu and Onua thing?
8) Arsmak is actually an Arabic term, I don't know what it means, so odds are we wouldn't be allowed to use it.

Here are a couple follow-ups

7. The thing about them and johmak, krahka, kopeke going to daxia to destroy the EP will it ever be resolved in RoS

NEW

9. Will the story of how MN and tarduk got the power source to the prototype robot be told in GN10?

10. Is the New Sahmad's tale done?

11. Is the new RoS still going to come out this week or next week

Thank you for your time

7) You have to recall that a lot of these missions get interrupted by Teridax's death
9) That was the plan, but right now, no one has asked me to continue working on GN10, which leads me to believe it may get cancelled.
10) No
11) Yes, most likely

Sending follow up about 11

I think Nui-Rama means Great Fly, Nui-Kopen is Great Wasp, and Nui-Jaga is Great Scorpion or something. Maybe Kuma-Nui means Great Rat.

Do you know what a Kuma Nui is? It's the combiner model of Mauka and Kane-Ra.
It's BIG I think it might mean something more ferocious?

Maybe it means Great Bear since Kuma stands for Bear in Japanese

I was thinking this too, but the creature is more rat-like than bear-like, plus Bionicle doesn't often take words from Japanese. It should though. :)
#11766
It has a full jaw of teeth and is as big as a bull / tiger. I think Bear is workable. ;)

Also, this isn't the place to discuss that.

1a) Is the Kanohi Hau capable of creating a shield around an opponent so that they are not able to move?
1b) And if not, would a Hau Nuva be able to by sharing the power with an enemy?

2a) There seems to be some misconception on the limitations of the Kaukau. Does it allow for limitless time of water breathing, or does it only have a certain amount of time?
2b) And what about the Kaukau Nuva?

3) I also had a question about how destiny works. Is it more of, you can do whatever you want, and the end result is what your destiny ultimately is? In other words, is your destiny basically a prediction of what you will do in the future, or is it more like you have to follow a certain path to achieve your destiny?

4) I understand why you made it so that Toa of Stone could not control sand in the story due to confussion, but my question is why didn't you allow them to, and simply never show it in the story, or at least in the stuff that is seen more by the younger audiences?

5) Helryx is described as being incredible ancient and disturbingly frail in appearance, yet she was created at about the same time as most of the other MU inhabitants. Is this just due to her being one of the earliest creations and her design is just different, or has she actually considerably aged? Also, is she actually physically weaker than an average Toa?

6) How long would it take the Mask of Creation to make something relatively simple such as a sword?

7) There are some artistic discrepencies between the Prototype robot as portrayed in the comics and the Mata Nui Saga, so I was wondering which one holds a higher level of cannon about its appearance?

8) This is something that has been on my mind for a while. While most being are roughly the same age, the Matoran seem a lot more innocent and less wise in comparison to Toa, and many Order of Mata Nui members of other such beings. Is this simply because the only life they have ever known is their jobs and they have never really gotten much experience in the world, or is it possible that the Matoran's memories and minds, or AIs, are less complex and simply retain less information and do not process as much?

9) This one is more of a theory that I was wondering if it could be valid. First off, are the majority of the southern islands volcanic, or is it just a few around Artidax? Secondly, if most of the southern islands are volcanic, could it be that the energy seen coming from the Great Spirit Robot's feet when it flies is some form of plasma that is produced in the volcanic islands (because you have said that the islands work as organs for the robot). And lastly, if both of the other statements are true, is it possible that those islands could be one possible place that Matoran of Plasma live?

10) We know that Mata Nui changed the stars to affect Makuta's decision on influencing Lhikan when he chose the next Toa, so this would imply that Mata Nui was aware of Makuta's scheming, so if that is true, why did he not act against Makuta and stop him while he still had a chance?

11) Does an Elemntal Kanohi grant the user Toa-level strength over just a single aspect of the element, or is it weaker than that?

12) Can a Toa, or any other Kanohi-able being activate a mask's power as often as they need to, say a Hau in combat, or does it mentally tax them each time they do so, and so they would only have a certain number of times they could use the power?

13) Is there a time limit to how long an Iden user can be away from their body?

1) No. The shield moves with you when you move, it's not a stasis field.
1a) No.
2) I don't believe we have stated it to be limitless, for either mask. If we have somewhere, then cite me the source and I will see what it says.
3) My own personal belief is that whatever you do, you are destined to do.
4) Because I can't do that. If I do that, what, I leave his ability to control sand out of his Encyclopedia entry? Or out of his BS01 entry, a site that is not visited only by BZP members? That would just create more confusion.
5) I see it as she's been through a lot.
6) Not long at all.
7) In cases like these it is simply different artistic interpretations of the same thing. Which is more canon, the Joker by Jim Lee or the Joker by Jim Aparo or the Joker by Jerry Robinson? They are all the same character, but look quite different, because they have different artists.
8) Keep in mind that the major time we got into the minds of Matoran was on the island of Mata Nui, when their memories had been wiped. I don't think you can look at the behavior of say, Jaller or Matoran in early '06 and see innocent and less wise.
9) Not something I have pondered since I have done very little in story with those islands.
10) Already too late then. By the time of LOMN, the virus has already infected Mata Nui, he just hasn't crashed yet ... the same way many computer viruses do not automatically crash your computer the second they infect it.
11) I don't understand your question -- what do you mean by "single aspect"?
12) The mask can be used until its power runs out, which might be many, many years. But you have to maintain concentration to use it, so if you are tired or battered or distracted, you won't be able to make it work.
13) Yes
#11770
1. For my entry in the S&T contest, would it be all right to assume Jerbraz has a humanoid bipedal body?
2. Would it be possible for an entrant in the Zakaz category to come up with powers for Nektann, if you have no plans to give him any?

1) Yes
2) I have no major issue with that.

2) I don't know of any definitive source, but on BS01 it says that the Kaukau Nuva can function for an unlimited amount of time.
10) That makes sense, but why would Mata Nui have killed the Makuta if he knew of their treachery? Was he too weakened to be able to do anything?
11) Sorry, I wasn't very clear there. Well Hewkii's mask lets him control just the gravity on a single target, as opposed to being able to do all of the things that a Toa of Gravity would be able to do, such as control their own gravity, or the entire area's gravity. So what I meant was, would an Elemental Kanohi just give the user control over a single ability of the element, for example, a hypotethical mask of ice would just allow the user to blast a stream of ice rather than being able to also control the temperature.
12) So does that mean that a mask has a certain amount of energy, and the more you use it, the more it drains it's power sort of like a battery?

2) Well, without knowing where they got that, I can't comment. If it says that in the Encyclopedia, then that is the case.
10) Yes.
11) Again, I am not sure where that limitation on the mask came from. It may have come from me, but that was three years ago that we were dealing with that mask and I really don't remember.
12) Yes.

Just a few more follow up questions, I bolded the parts that I thought gave us a bit of good info.

Well, Tahu Nuva's adaptative Hau was a new one, so it was fully powered.

1. Would the entries in the Karda Nui part of the S&T contest be allowed to mention what Kanohi Radiak, Galva, and\or Kirop had before their time as a Shadow Matoran.
1b. The same as the previous question but with Gar, Reysa, &Kyrehx (the Mahri Nui Matoran).
2. Was Tuyet the only Toa in the Pitt or were their others (We are wondering this for the possibility of the object in the Mahri Nui story being a Toa Stone which would be something Tuyet wouldn't be likely to make)?
3. Would the writer of the Karzahni story be allowed to kill off Devastator?

1) Yes
1b) Yes
2) It is possible there could be others
3) No.

Most of it was for the people entering the S&T contest, but we now know there could be other Toa in the pit.
#11777
Hi Greg. I just had a few questions concerning scareRahi, brought about by the latest S&T contest.

1. What exactly were they made of? Not entirely sure what resources the Av-Matoran had...
2. Did they resemble actual Rahi breeds, or just some big imaginary monster that would frighten a Rahi?
3. How long would you say it would take to make one? (So I can factor that into my story.)

Thank you for your time.

~Lord Rahl~

1) Plants from the swamp
2) Both
3) A few hours.

Some questions I had for the S&T contest.

It takes a looong looong time for Kanohi to drain. Kanohi are made from Kanoka, which take a significant ammount of time to lose their power, and the power-losing process is dramatically slowed when made into a Mask. Think about it, it would be impractical for a Toa to have to swap all of their masks on a constant basis.
#11779
Something I asked Greg for the new S&T contest:
Hiyas . I had a couple of quick questions regarding the Barraki for you.

1. Could Takadox use his power of hypnosis to force someone to forget an event?
2. How would a Barraki call someone an imbecile? Would they use the typical matoran slang, or something else?

1) Yes
2) Or they might just call them an imbecile. Remember, the story is English translated from Matoran.

#2 is useless, but #1 presents some interesting possibilities.
#11780
hello Mr. greg.

Recently in the OGD, there was a discussion someone brought up about various rahi ending in "nui"

I've compiled a small list of names in matoran that are official, but have not been translated:

1. kuma: (as in kuma Nui)
kuma are described as "rat-like creatures" on bs01, so could "kuma" translate to "rat" or "rodent"?

2. Kahu: (rahi)
kahu are described as "hawk rahi", so could "kahu" translate to "hawk" or something similar?

3. Kirikori (Kirikori Nui)
Kirikori Nui are pretty much massive locusts. Could Kirikori translate to something like "grasshopper" or "locust"?

4. Mahi (rahi)
Mahi are described as "goat rahi", so could "mahi" translate to "goat" or something similar?

Locations:
I realize you do not like naming characters after locations very often (eg naho). I am not asking you to use these names as characters (tho I personally like the idea) but to further flesh out the matoran language by providing translations. If you do not want to make up translations, I understand, but I believe this is a good opportunity to add to the fanbase without actually creating something new.
Another option is for you to use these words to supplement your name list you are awaiting back from legal.

5. Papa nihu reef (Mata Nui location)
word excerpt to be used/translated: "nihu"

6. Motara Desert (Mata Nui location)
word excerpt to be used/translated: "Motara"

7. lake Pala (Mata Nui location)
word excerpt to be used/translated: "Pala"

8. Amaja-Nui (Mata Nui location)
word excerpt to be used/translated: "Amaja"
note: this is the place where the turaga gather to tell stories. As its a circle with a firepit in the middle, perhaps "circle"?

9. fau swamp (Mata Nui location)
word excerpt to be used/translated: "fau"

10. lake kanae/Kanae bay (Mata Nui locations)
word excerpt to be used/translated: "kanae"
11. Tiro Canyon (Mata Nui location)
word excerpt to be used/translated: "Tiro"

12. Leva Bay (Mata Nui location)
word excerpt to be used/translated: "Leva"

thanks in advance for your time.

1-4) I am fine with this
5-12) Nope. In some cases, these terms from 2001 are or are very close to Maori terms, and I don't want to start all that up again.

Yeah rawr. is right. Anyways.
Hey Greg, I had a few questions. Sorry to bother you.

Q) Have you heard anything for the names for the new Toa serial?
A) List has not been submitted yet

Q) When will the last chapter of RoS be posted on BionicleStory.com?
A) When it gets written

Q) What would you do if you didn't have a job at LEGO?
A) I would be working somewhere else, probably a publishing company. I had four other jobs before I worked here.
Q) I heard you say that Atakus' swords come from the "New World" is that true?
A) Yes

Q) Is there a chance we will ever see Mata Nui again?
A) No idea

Q) Why doesn't LEGO want you telling us about the Great Beings?
A) Don't know. They didn't give me a reason.

Q) Have you heard of Bionicle: Next Generation?
7a. What do you think about the whole project?
A) Yes, I have, though I am not way familiar with it. Still, it sounds like it's ambitious and they should have fun with it.

Nothin new I don't think.

Questions, answers.

1)In Destiny War, a BoM fortress (the one where Zaktan and Pridak found out about Teridax's Plan) is implied to be to west of Destral. If so, was the fortress located on this island (marked with red)?

1) Yes

2) Now that MU is destroyed, what will happen to species who live in the water like Ehlek's species? How will they move to Spherus Magna? And if they do, are they going to live in the Great Sea, as there are no other known seas?

2) They are most likely going to need the help of multiple Toa of Water to be able to get transported safely to the sea.

3) Is there anymore Pit Mutagen, or did it all disappear when Matoran Universe left Aqua Magna (as mutagen was the result of Aqua Magna water combining with Codrex energy)?

3) Most likely, there are portions of Aqua Magna that still have this, since the water is contaminated

4) Did all characters we know by name survive when Teridax died?

4) Yes

5) I'm asking you again about BIONICLE 5 treatment being happened in an alternate universe. Now that we know what Great Volcano really was, can you confirm the treatment events officially happening in an AU?

5) In an AU, yes

6) If the answer is no, just ignore these. If yes, could you answer these details about that AU..
a. "Oris", "Tera", "Likus" and "bucket head" Skrall exist only in this dimension (of course, Oris, Tera and Likus would be unnamed because of their unofficial names)?
b. Berix and Gresh left back to Mega-Village while Mata Nui, Ackar and Kiina continued to Valley of the Maze?
c. Element Lords were trapped in the Maze?
d. Maze could move it's walls, but only in this dimension?
e. Element Lords got killed?
f. Skrall and "Oris","Tera" and "Likus" escaped destruction of the Maze?
g. There are biomechanical dinosaurs at least in that reality's Bota Magna?

6) Yes to all, in the AU only

So confirmation about location of Makuta fortress, the method how Ehlek's species is going to move, Pit Mutagen still exists, MNOG 2 Matoran are alive, and BIONICLE 5 being now official story, even if only in an Alternate Universe. Pretty well, I say.
