1Tanaku - They didn't know the mask, but that doesn't mean the mask didn't know of them. Remember, this is the same mask that was testing Matoro's courage when he was still a Matoran and not even in Karzahni yet. The mask's powers are pretty wide-ranging. As for why, well, Dekar was going to die anyway ... and Hydraxon is an enemy of the Barraki, who had also proven themselves to be the mask's enemy. So who better to turn him into?
2Jack - I look at it this way. The mask is a tool, just like, say, the dark side of the Force is a tool in Star Wars. But because it is a tool that makes it easy to do things in not very nice ways, it erodes the spirit after a while.
3Do not make the mistake, though, of thinking that the mask somehow "turned Makuta evil" -- he made his own choices.
4Final point -- do not confuse the "goodness" of Tahu or Kopaka with the "goodness" of Makuta in the old days, which was more along the lines of, "I'll do good because I don't think I can get away with doing evil." That's not being good in your heart -- that's being good on the surface, because you feel you have to be. Once he saw a way he could do evil and be successful at it, he simply stopped pretending that he cared about anything besides himself.

1Disousa - Optimus Prime basically answered your question before you asked it. Inspired by what the Barraki tried and failed to do, Makuta decided to hatch his own plan to overthrow Mata Nui and convinced the rest of the BOM to go along with it.
2As for your new question -- BIONICLE Legends #2. Matoro and the other Matoran are traveling through a dark tunnel. Matoro is bringing up the rear. He stumbles over what feels like a body, and thinking it is one of his friends, he reaches down to help him up and guide him out. When he reaches the other end of the tunnel, he sees all the other Matoran already out -- and when he turns around, there is no one holding his hand.
3That was the power of the mask, reaching out to him -- testing that in a time of fear and worry to see if he would nevertheless reach out to aid another.

1Say, in MNOG, Gali says there is a bond between her and Takua which involves Takua seeing her in his dreams.
2Is this maintained when he is a Toa? Is it annoying, or does he not need sleep as much as he used to?
3How did Gali know he was the Chronicler?
4Isn't the Avohkii useless to Takua since he is already Light? Same with Makuta and Krahkan?
5Do Kanohi change color based on the Toa element? Because a Kanohi of water might look terrible if it maintained it's color on a Toa of Fire.
6Do Matoran have minor telepathy? Best way to be United.
7Do Matoran lack genetic material? I mean, they can't reproduce, so what would they pass on?

1Toa of Whimsy - 1) The bond idea was introduced largely so that fans could see events Takua was not present for. In the story, it existed because he was the Chronicler and needed to be able to see such things. Since he is no longer Chronicler, my assumption is whatever bond there was has long since been severed.
22) I did not work on MNOG, so I have no idea if there was a scene in which she was informed. MNOG was designed before I came to work here.
33) No, because if you read the description of the Mask of Light, it states it can turn enemies into friends and turn anger to peace and promote understanding, none of which Takanuva can do with his Toa light powers.
44) Yes, an unworn Kanohi is gray and changes color to match the color of the person who dons it.
55) No, they do not.
66) The idea of Matoran having DNA is not something we have dealt with, basically because it cuts too close to discussing how they are created.

1Tanaku - 1) My assumption would be Makuta's willpower would be too strong. Remember, his mask can do just the opposite of what Takanuva's can, so odds are it would be a stand-off.
2And no, I don't think even Makuta, let alone Takanuva, has enough willpower to blanket the entire universe with his mask power. Only Mata Nui would.

1Disousa - Yes, that is part of the description of the Mask of Shadows -- it spreads fear and darkness and can make friends into enemies.
1HEY GREG WHEN IS THE NEW BIONICLE MOVIE COMING OUT JUST PM ME IF YOU NO
Last Edit: by DELTA48
1DELTA48 - Too early to know for sure. I know that the earliest it could possibly come out would be 2009, but we are very, very early in this process -- there isn't even a script yet -- so no way to predict how quickly things will move along. If we shoot for 2009 and then can't make that date for some reason, then the whole script has to be scrapped because we would need the movie to then focus on 2010 story.

1Are you and/or the Lego Company planning any future Official Bionicle Contests or anything that allows Bionicle Fans to win Rare and Exclusive Bionicle Prizes and/or Products? Anything like the one years ago; in which fans could win Gold Hau Masks?
1A lot of things are being discussed for 2008, Jack, but I am not that involved on the promotions end of things. I stick to story.
1In Bionicle 2:LOMN, all of the chosen matoran were gathered in the toa suva where they were transformed into Toas, my question is: why is there only one toa suva? The toa mata has six suva for each of them, or were the matoran gathered only in toa lhikan's suva?
1The Matoran were gathered at the Toa Suva in the Great Temple, that's true. Where does it say that there aren't any other suva anywhere in the city?
1I think Cyrzalots means the Toa Suva on the island of Mata Nui.
1Vague, nerdy question time:
2You said before that when Matoran became Toa, they would take the Toa form of what they thought Toa looked like. So if, while they were fooled into believing that the Piraka were Toa, if one of then were to become a Toa during this period would they have looked like a Piraka?

1I am going to say no simply because, biologically, it isn't possible for a Matoran to evolve into a Piraka. They are two totally different species. It would be sort of like saying that a kid could magically turn into whatever his concept of an adult was -- he is still going to turn into something that's human, because biologically he pretty much has to. He doesn't have it in him to turn into an adult dragon or something.
1How do I get updated and informed of Bionicle Contests?
1Hi Jack,
2Well, there are three types of BIONICLE contests that I know about.
3LEGO Magazine/BIONICLE comic contests -- These are featured in the magazine or comic and you would find out about them by being a subscriber.
4LEGO BrickMaster Magazine contests -- Available only to BrickMaster subscribers. Currently planning one for January.
5BZPower contests -- Announced on the home page of that site.

1Voya Nui will plunge underwater when the cord is cut, being drawn back to where it originally came from. When it does that, any Matoran on the surface of the island will end up in the ocean and most likely drown. It will then smash Mahri Nui to bits on its route.
1Ok here's the problem I can't afford a subscription for magazines or websites. So I will never get to enter any of those.
1The mags are free Jack, not the Brickmaster ones though. BZP's free, but not premier membership.
1Jack - Both LEGO Magazine and basic BZPower membership are free. I would suggest checking out club.LEGO.com, where you will find a link to signing up for the free 2-year subscription to the magazine.
2As BFN says, premier membership on BZP has a price tag, but I don't believe you have to be premier to enter contests. LEGO BrickMaster magazine is also a paid subscription.

1Dear Greg,2I read somewhere that the Brotherhood is surrounding the Universe Core and plannig to take over so they can control when the Ignika can be used. Also that after going to Artakha the Toa Nuva must go to the Core and defend it, and the Order is trying to get some more Toa, and others to defend the Core. This has been bugging me for a while, can you please confirm that this is true/untrue.
1The first bit of information is from the Encylopedia, so yes, that is true. As for the rest, not sure offhand what your source for that would be, and since it touches on 2008 storyline, I can't comment on it.
