1Hello Mr. Farshtey. I have some questions for you.
21. Can Vakama actually dive into molten protodermis like he did in the short movie?
3Yes, but he can't stay under for more than a few seconds.

42. Were Nidhiki and Krekka once Toa?
5I have no info on their origins.
63.Why weren't the Toa disks brought along to Mata Nui?
7Can't answer it, deals with future story.

84. Is Nivawk evil?
9I don't see him as evil, anymore than a hunting falcon would be evil. What he does depends on what his owner/master tells him to do. He has no moral sense, he's an animal.
105. What species is Nivawk and are there more of him?
11I don't have a species name for him, but I have no doubt there are more.

126. What does Krahka really look like without shapeshifting?
13I am not going to share that, because what you guys can imagine is way creepier than what I could come up with.
147. Is that yellow ball in the temple a lock for power or 5th enemy?
15Neither
168. Will the Vahi be released in a set in a different version?
17Unfortunately, no.

189. Why wasn't Lhikan going to be realeased as a set in the first place?
19Basically, the product designs were all done for 2004 before the movie script was written and people saw how big a role Lhikan had. So we had to go back to the drawing board to see if we could get a Lhikan done for this year or not.
2010. Is the mask of elemental power an official mask?
21I guess so.
2211. What happened to the Muaka and Rahkshi fighting in the archives? Were one of them killed?
23Most likely, the Rahkshi was damaged enough that it fled.
2412. Why aren't there any lunchables comics in Canada?
25Kraft chose where to do the promotion and where not to.
2613. Will the other Toa disks be released?
27I haven't heard anything about that.
2814. Why do the Kraahu and Kranua look so much like Nidhiki and Krekka?
29Product design decision. I don't know.

3015. Will the person's Rahi who wins the grand prize in the Rahi contest be involved and become an official character inthe story?
31Yes, they will be featured in the November comic book.
3216. Why did the Matoran make the Vahki look so scary?
33Because if no one was afraid of them, they wouldn't be as good at their jobs.

3417. What if Bionicle were not invented?
35????
3618. Is the Kavinika a relative of the infernika?
37No.
3819. How many Kanoka are there to collect?
39I don't have that information.
4020. Do you have any promo items?
41No, don't think so. I don't usually get them.
4221. Are you a Lego club member?
43Yes
4422. Why did the great beings make the Bohrok?
45We have never said who made them, but the Bohrok were invented to clean off the surface of the island. That's their job.
4623. Can Vahki malfunction?
47Yes
4824. What Promotions do you know about that will come out in the future?
49I don't have any info on that at present.
5025. Are there Krahkas in stasis in the archives?
51No. But as one of the Toa said, how would anyone know if there were?

5226. Could Krahka become Mata Nui or Makuta if it wanted to?
53Mata Nui, I don't think so. Makuta possibly, but I am not sure she could handle the level of power.
5426. Do Matoran or Toa or Turaga have actual hearts and lungs and other body organs that keep them alive?
55Well, we know they have lung tissue, because they do in the movie. I don't know about other organs.

56Thank you for your time.

1heres some info on the vahki and other things QUOTE 2QUOTE 3QUOTE 4okay this time there are only a few things i want to know 5#1:in comic 18(the new one)why are there keerakh in ta-metru? 6#2a:can vahki combine there staff powers and share them like nuurakh uses the staff of controle and rorzakh uses the staff of presence to do a form of mind controle? 7#2b:and to add to #2a can a matoran or other lifeform even get afected(sp) by two staff powers at the same time? 8#3:why does it say ehre(sp) was here in that comic? 9#4(does not really have to do with metru-nui):what is the origin of the bahrag i want to know it becuse of a new theorie of mine on bionicle evelution i have no way of getting the book that says there origin so please tell me all about there origin?
10and in case you want to know the theorie here it goes:mata-nui and makuta made the bahrag(reason i want to know the real origin) bahrag made krana krana evolved into a thing(i can't really tell what it is) that then became a rahi then became a bohrok six bohrok became bohrok-kal and some became bohrok-va then the first kanohi was made by mata-nui and makuta they fused it with a krana it became a matoran of course a matoran sometimes becomes a toa and rarely becomes nuva then becomes a turaga thats it what do you think of that?

11First, on your theory -- you are basing it on a piece of production art that has nothing to do with the story. The krana did not evolve into anything.
121) Vahki are allowed to cross metru borders if they have been ordered to or if they are pursuing someone.
132) No. Using both at the same time would burn the subject's mind out.
142b) Yes, in a bad way
153) Artist stuck it on the ad page as a joke
164) There is no book that says their origin, because we have never released that information. All I can tell you is that the Bahrag were created by the same beings who made the Bohrok, and no Mata Nui was not one of them.
17Greg

18i geuss i should give up on bionicle evelution and i should stop beleveing rumors becuse i heard a rumor the origin of the bahrag was in a book sorry for that and one more thing again with the re-found thing why does vakama i think say the great kanoka refound and also does mata-nui even have a "bodied form) like makuta does or does mata-nui not like being in a bodie?and where are the rahkshi from anyway if they did not come from mata-nui(the island) or metru-nui then where did they come from?

191) Vakama never says anything about the Great Kanoka being rediscovered. In the movie, he makes a reference to the city of Metru Nui being found again, which makes sense since he used to live there.
202) I can't discuss what Mata Nui looks like.
213) The Rahkshi come from elsewhere -- places other than Metru Nui or Mata Nui.
22Greg

1DS, I think the names of the Vahki combiners are Kraahu and Kranua.
2Hafu

3Where did you hear that? I thought their names would end in -ahk. Kraahu and Kranua just sound like they came from Tahu and Onua.
#1404

  • 1I notice when Krahka is referred to, it's always as "Krahka" not "a Krahka" or "the Krahka." So, is Krahka that animal's name, as Pewku is that crab's name, as opposed to species name?

  • 2Since it's been a while since you told me the origin of the Toa Olda hadn't been established, and you recently answered a question about that with "Can't answer instead of you don't know, I just want to check, has their origin been figured out yet? (Again, I'm not asking you to reveal it, just wonder if it's been established yet.)

  • 3The fact that the Matoran made the Vahki, and that Vahki staffs have powers, means that Matoran know how to engineer tools with powers, not just Kanoka, right?

  • 4raptordx1: Did makuta put the matoran of Metru Nui to sleep at roughly the same time as he put mata-nui to sleep? Did I miss something?
    5GregF: Roughly.

6Huh? Makuta put the Matoran of Metru Nui to sleep?

  • 7GaliGee: What drove the Matoran to build the Temple of the Great Spirit at this point in the storyline? As I understand it, Mata Nui was not actually on Metru Nui, and he had not yet led the Matoran to the paradise island and given them the three virtues. Had he visited them, done other things for them, or simply been a benevolent, creative presence?
8GregF: Mata Nui has always been revered by the Matoran, long before they went to the island. While I do NOT in any way compare the feelings of the Matoran for him to a religion, does the all-powerful being of a religion need to be physically present for him to be honored? The Matoran credit Mata Nui for the rising of the suns, the place they live, the air they breathe ... and simply continued to do so when they went to the island.

9Credit as in they think he made all that stuff, or is it more like they think he made it possible for them to keep breathing, stay alive, build their homes, etc.? In other words, is it more like creation or direct intervention, or him inspiring them? You've said something to the inspiration extent with their trip to Mata Nui; that he inspired them to go, so they credit him for that.

  • 10About waking up the Bohrok; is this signal directed at something central, like the Bahrag, or at individual Bohrok (fitting with Wake one wake all)? Meaning, is there just one spot where this beacon can be used, or could it be used near any Bohrok, no matter where?

  • 11exometru: Hi Greg, I just got comic 18 and I have a question. 12How come on the second page of the Vahki bios, page 9, in the top right corner, it says "H2O 4 life" under the paintbrush? I see that the rest of the stuff is matoran graffiti, but how would anyone on Metru Nui know what water is? I was trying to figure out how this is significant, but no success.
13GregF: My guess would be that is a joke by the artist.

14You know, that's very interesting, because I had just been thinking the other day, since there's "no" water on Metru Nui, yet lots above, I've been wondering if there might actually be tiny traces of H2O that somehow seeped down or something. Assuming for a second that's possible, wouldn't Metruans consider water a rare and exotic substance? Maybe study it? Especially since they would observe that it can function like protowater (supporting life). And maybe that joke is more than a joke, and is kinda hinting at this idea? Probably not, but I wanted to run the idea by you. (Of course, H2O would have to be a rough translation thing, since I doubt Matoran would use an atomic ordering system like ours, big coincidence, that would be.)

15I was going to send in some questions about Tales of the Masks, since I just read it, but no time today, so I'll send these as is. (Great story, BTW :D ) Thanks.

161) Actually, if you go back to the part where the false Whenua breaks up the fight among the other Toa Metru, he says, "It's called a Krahka." So yes, it is meant as a species name, not an individual name.
172) I have my theories, but nothing is put down on paper yet.
183) Yup, that would follow
194) I can't comment any further on that.
205) This is always a tricky question to answer, because I try to avoid delving into religion here. So I will use the example of the Greek gods. The Greeks saw virtually everything as being a result of the gods' work -- the grapes that grew, their victories in battle, storms at sea, favorable winds for sailing, everything. They didn't have to physically see the gods doing anything .... they just took it on faith that they were acting. Same thing here. The Matoran do not believe that Mata Nui physically built the city, but they do believe he gave them the tools, the knowledge, and the resources to do so, and therefore that city is a gift from Mata Nui. Mata Nui is credited with the rising of the suns and the light stones in the mines and the fact that Rahi haven't overrun the city.
216) Good question. I see it as one signal, triggered from one specific spot, that wakes all Bohrok.
227) No, the joke doesn't hint at anything. The artist in question is extremely talented, but since he is not on the story team he would not try to foreshadow anything.
23Greg

24BTW, on number 4, that "Did I miss something" wasn't part of raptor's quote, it was supposed to be at the end of my question. I obviously typed it in the wrong spot somehow...

1Here are 2 Q's and A's:
2QUOTE 3Okay, I have two quick questions:
41. Is the material that is in the Kanoka Club right now, ever going to be taken off of the Kanoka Club, or will it always be there?
52. Are you almost done judging the Rahi Contest entries?

6Thanks Greg:

7-ToaNuju8606

81) My assumption is that it would be up at least through the end of this year. I know we are planning to continue the club in 2005, but do not know if old content would go away or if everything would stay up. I don't work on it.
92) We have about 1000 to 1500 entries to go through before first cut is done, and then we will choose winners from that. I am hoping to do the judging by June 1st.

1Hey bonesiii and everyone else who does this, could you format your questions so it's question-answer-question-answer instead of question-question-answer-answer? It's pretty hard to keep scrolling up and down to match answers up, especially when they're not numbered. Thanks:
2More Qrazy Questions.
31. Are all Kanohi Kirils translucent on the top, or is that because of the same reason the Metru Nui Matoran have silver masks (unknown)?
4I have only ever seen one Kanohi Kiril, so no idea.
52. Do Matoran get stronger from regular exercise, the same way organics do? I can think of an explanation for that. . .
6I would think that is possible, certainly, because they do have organic muscles.
73.
8Turaga is both a title and a state of evolution. A Matoran who runs a city is not a Turaga ... Turaga are beings who have more experience and more power than a standard Matoran has. Turaga can use Noble Masks and elemental powers; Matoran cannot.

9If Turaga is a fixed state of evolution, wouldn't that mean Dume was a Toa in the past? Can Dume use elemental powers? Or are there Turaga "classes," as in "past-Toa" Turaga and "Mutant-Matoran" Turaga?
10I have no information on Dume's past -- there is nothing on it in they story bible for '04 cause it's not relevant to this year's story. So I cannot give you an official answer.

114. We know that Bionicle characters can make new limbs and body parts. Do these have to be made from a certain type of protodermis (purified, energized, organicized. . .)? How are they crafted?
12Purified. They would be forged in Ta-Metru.
135. Can Matoran build cyborg parts onto themselves? Say you're a mechanic - could you build a welding torch onto your wrist? If so, how far could you go with these modifications? Could you build wings? Another set of legs? A whole new body?
14Good question. I suppose it is possible, the same way humans can have prostheses.
156. Why do Krekka, Nidhiki, Rahkshi, and Vahki fly? How did the Dark Hunters gain this seemingly unnatural power? In terms of flying Rahkshi were interesting, Vahki were very odd and Nidhiki and Krekka are just plain disturbing. Look in the sky, it's Nivawk: No, wait, that's Krekka. . .
16Well, if your job is to hunt for things -- which is common to all four that you mentioned -- being able to do it from the sky is a real help. In addition, since only Vakama and Matau are capable of flight, it gives the bad guys a big advantage over them which makes for more interesting stories.
17Sorry to bother you, and thanks for the great work: I just got the newest comic and am eagerly searching out The Darkness Below. Keep it up, and send me a PM if you need an assistant ( ):

1This is a quote from a pm question I submitted:
2Will the lego company release the new rahkshi, including these from your latest book: gold, orange, yellow, silver, black-green, black-white, and more?

3No, there are no plans at this point for more Rahkshi sets. When we redid the Bohrok the year after we had released them, everyone ripped us for repeating ourselves, so we are not going to do that again with the Rahkshi.

7There would be way too much grumbling going on though. People would get mad because they've "rehashed" the Rahkshi just like the Toa and Bohrok. People would also start to get angry because set designers can't just whip out sets every summer that have totally different designs and pieces.

1Hi, new questions:

21. In the MoL movie, when it shows metru-nui, it has like a giant hill and plains and stuff. But you said Metru-Nui was not necessarily destroyed. How come the MoL version didn't have chutes and the colosieum and stuff? (You also said when the matoran go back, life will go on as it did in the beore time, i saw that in the GregF section)
3Because the camera shot you were seeing was of Po-Metru, which is canyons and mountains and plains.

42. Say Dume is evil, how would Lhikan react?
5I am not going to get into hypotheticals.

63. Will Vakama have another vision when the matoran go back to metru-nui?
7No idea, that storyline has not been written yet.

84. You said the matoran know of makuta through legends. they also respect him. what did he do in the legends good?
9Can't answer it.

105. was makuta ever good?
11He was perceived to be, that is all I can say.

126. Is Dume in any connected to the bohrok?
13No.

147. were the matoran of metru-nui put to sleep at the same time makuta put mata-nui to sleep? did makuta put the matoran to sleep?
15Already answered this question for someone else, and probably should not have, so can't comment.

168. did the matoran just fall asleep wherever they were, whatever they were doing? Or were they in sleeping tubes or something?

17Watch the movie.

189. are the matoran in metru-nui still asleep during the toa nuva?
19Can't answer it.

2010. were the matoran who went with the toa metru to mata-nui considered "traitors"?
21No.

2211. is the "famous line" in the movie during the first 20 mins? who says it? Dume?
23No, it's not, and I can't comment on movie plot.

2412. who is nidhiki saying "We shall not fail:" to?
25Again, can't comment on movie plot.

2613. when vakama has his vision, is everything white and he sees metru-nui from a distance like in the trailor?

27Think so.

2814. do the toa metru and matoran leave for mata-nui through one of the suns?
29Again, can't comment on movie plot.

3015. do the toa metru and matoran ever go to the environs to live? Have they ever lived on them?

31No, and I doubt it.

3216. Is makuta in his lair during 04 or on an environ?
33Can't answer it.

3417. did makuta put mata-nui into his sleep physically? or mentally?
35Can't answer it.

3618. is mata-nui asleep under/on metru-nui?
37No.

3819. do the matoran have to go back to metru-nui to see a carving or talk to someone to awaken mata-nui?
39They have to repopulate the city.

4020. do you know how matoran are made?
41I know how Matoran come into being, yes.

4221. did makuta create the matoran and get jealous cause mata-nui cared for them and the matoran praised mata-nui?
43No.
4422. was mata-nui ever evil?
45Not to my knowledge, no.

4623. if mata-nui exists, is he what the matoran say he is, a great spirit?
47Can't answer it

4824. does mata-nui exist?
49Yes, definitely

5025. how did makuta put mata-nui into his sleep?
51Can't answer it

5226. is toa lhikan evil?

53No

5427. when the matoran go back to metru-nui, will the turaga all live in the coliseum or just meet in the coliseum?
55That storyline has not been written yet.

5628. is dume friends with makuta? business partners maybe?
57Makuta has no friends.

5829. do the dark hunters (maybe dume) serve makuta?
59Watch the movie.
6030. you said makuta will return this year in a different way...is it when he puts the matoran to sleep?
61Can't answer it.

6231. whats the most recent vision vakama's had?
63No idea.

6432. did vakama have a vision predicting tahu, pohatu, lewa, onua, kopaka, and gali?
65No, he did not, at least not so far as we know at this tgime.

6633. do the toa metru get turned into turaga at the end of the movie?
67Yes

6834. do the toa metru top combiners have anything to do with the toa metru turning into turaga? or the vahki perhaps?
69No

7035. what's making nokama and vakama blow away?

71Watch the movie.

7236. how did onewa get so fair and wise when he used to be so arrogant and headstrong?

73A thousand years will change a being.

7437. before the whole mata-nu-makuta conflict, were they friends?
75I don't think friends is the right word, no.

7638. how do the matoran know what sons are if theres no biological reproduction? they call the rahkshi the makutas sons.
77Well, if I handed you a shovel and said, "This is chocolate cake," you would call it chocolate cake if you didn't know better. To them, brothers are beings who work and fight together ... and sons are beings created by another to help and support him. Son to them does not mean what son means to us.

7839. since rahi dont biologically reproduce, why did you call the ash bear a mother bear protecting her area?
79I didn't call her that. Lewa Nuva called her that.

8040. are there other giant bubbles underground full of proto with life?
81Can't answer it.

8241. why do the kanoka disks have our numbers on them when the matoran have their own numbers?
83Simple. Not every BIONICLE fan knows the Matoran number system, and so would have had to go nuts trying to figure out which disk they had if the numbers were in Matoran. And just as we translate Matoran language into English in the comic, we translate the numbers from Matoran to our own.

84thanx:

86Sorry I could not be more help, but most of what you asked was related to movie plot and I could not answer it. See answers above, 87Greg

1Okay, I have some more questions.
21. Okay, so the Vahki powers are tied in to the staffs, does that mean that a Toa or Matoran could activate a Vahki power 3while holding a staff? (Ex. Takua could use Staff of Command if 4he found one and held onto it.)
5No, because the power to activate the staff comes from the Vahki. It's sort of like, um, a microwave -- the microwave actually cooks the food, but the power to do so comes from the electric outlet. The power to switch on the staff essentially comes from the Vahki, and then the specific power comes from the staff.
62. Do Vahki powers work on only Matoran, Turaga, and Toa, or 7can they work on Rahi?
8They can work on Rahi, depending on how much of a mind the given Rahi has to affect.
93. Could Vahki powers work on organic things, such as a Morbuzahk vine, or a Kraata?
10If it has a mind, yes.
114. Can Vahki plan out how they do things, or do they follow the 12plans of Dume?
13Dume does not give them detailed instructions like that, anymore than the mayor of your town tells the police what to do every day. The Vahki have certain behavior patterns they are programmed to react to.

145. Do the Toa Metru basicly have all the powers of the Toa and 15Nuva, only slightly weaker? Ex. Vakama can withstand great heat, etc.
16Yes. Vakama has also done things with his powers that Tahu never did, like absorb flame into himself.
176. Do Vahki powers work on other Vahki, at all?
18Probably not. Vahki do not have minds, they have clockwork mechanisms.
197. How long have the Matoran been working on completing and perfecting Metru Nui?
20Oh, ages.
218. Has Dume been the Turaga of Metru Nui since when the 22Matoran started to make it?
23I don't have enough info on Dume's background to answer that question.

249. Kraata can use their powers in dire situtations, right?
25Yes.
2610. A question about the Rahkshi staffs. In the MoL movie, the 27staffs seemed to appear out of thin air into the Rahkshi's hands. Well, does that mean they have them with them, or 28can they call upon them if they know where they are? Is this 29why the Rahkshi in the Archives can't get their staffs, because 30they don't know where they are?
31That was an effect done for the movie, for the same reason that the Toa were not shown carrying their tools all the time. It was less a story device than a device needed for the purposes of the movie.
32Thanks.
33<BH>

34See answers above, 35Greg
361.Okay, jsut wanted to get that straight.
372. Heh, brings back the memory of how the Rahi are 'not very intelligent,' thing LEGO put on bionicle.com.
383. So...maybe a high level Kraata...maybe the King Root could be affected slightly...
394. Cool.
405. So, same powers, cooler stunts, neato.
416. So Vahki are literaly lacking brain capacity.
427. Hmm...
438. Okey-doeky.
449. Needed to make sure.
4510. Cool.

110. A question about the Rahkshi staffs. In the MoL movie, the 2staffs seemed to appear out of thin air into the Rahkshi's hands. Well, does that mean they have them with them, or 3can they call upon them if they know where they are? Is this 4why the Rahkshi in the Archives can't get their staffs, because 5they don't know where they are?
6That was an effect done for the movie, for the same reason that the Toa were not shown carrying their tools all the time. It was less a story device than a device needed for the purposes of the movie.

7I've always believed that Toa, Rahkshi, etc. can summon their tools when needed. Several times in the comics, Toa are seen with their tools in one frame and without them in the next, or vice versa.

1Here's a few questions I asked:
2QUOTE
31) What is a Kraahu and Kranua?
4Kraahu and Kranua are the names of the Vahki combo models.
52) Likewise, what is a Kavinika and Infernika?
6The Kavinika is a Rahi made from three of the Matoran models. I don't know of an Infernika, but there is an Infernavika which is a Rahi bird that was produced for the LEGO Club.

73) Did Mata Nui let Makuta put a spell on him for some greater good?
8No.
94) What is a Toa's actual purpose? I mean, I know that they prevent widespread destruction, but why would Mata Nui choose Toa to stop destruction, why not just robots like Vakhi but only stronger? Does the transformation of matoran to Toa symbolize something that no Toa has realized yet?
10Actually, that is fairly simple. Robots are simply not as effective guardians. They aren't capable of emotion, so they aren't going to really care for the Matoran and do the intangibles Toa can do. They also do not have the qualities of imagination that a living being has, which the Toa have often had to rely on to overcome evil.

115) In refference to the above question and to the one below, do the Toa have a stronger connection to Mata Nui than matoran do?
12I wouldn't say that, no.
136) Would the Toa feel something Mata Nui was put to sleep? Did the Toa feel a disturbence when Mata Nui was put to sleep (a "disturbence in the force" perhaps)?
14Nope.

157) Did Toa Lihikan refuse to become a turaga? I was just wondering since he was still in Toa form when he was captured.
16No, the fact that he was still a Toa means that he had not yet fulfilled his destiny.
178) Why is Makuta referred to as THE Makuta and Mata Nui not referred as THE Mata Nui? Are there more than one Makuta (doubtful)?
18Well, it's a good question ... but we refer to the President of the US as "the President", doesn't mean there is more than one.
199) Why was the earlier design for the Vakhi refused? I remember you saying something about them being like the Hunters of the planet Oa in DC comics. Were they like them in the fact that they turned on their masters?
20No. The design was rejected because the means the Kralhi used to enforce order caused too many work delays.
2110) How powerful were the early Vakhi prototypes?
22Pretty powerful.
2311) Why the farther the Toa go down into the planet, the morer powerful the rahi and beings they meet? Is it because that is the only place the rahi can find peace?
24Can't answer it.
2512) Will there be any more rahi sets (like ones that contain instructions for several rahi in one kit)? I would be very interested in the animals that were found on the trip from Metru nui to Mata Nui.
26Probably more Rahi sets, yes.
2713) Is it true that the Takea shark is more powerful than the Tarakava?
28Yes
29That's all for now. Thanks.

31See answers above, 32Greg
333) Strange. Mata Nui is (much) more powerful than Makuta, yet Makuta is able to put a sleep on Mata Nui without Mata willingly letting him do it. Maybe Makuta used some sort of itewm of power.
344-6) Well, thje theory was worth a shot.
3512) Yes: We'll finally be able to see more rahi in small set form. ):)

1QUOTE 2Hi Greg, hope you're enjoying the warm weather
31) When Kopaka was having the visions from his canister in 2001 when he first came to the island, was he getting it the same way as Vakama?
42) If Mata Nui doesn't interact with the matoran, how can they tell that he's asleep? Is it movie plot?

51) No.
62) Well, first off they were told he is ... secondly, events in the movie make it pretty clear something really bad has happened, something which would not have happened had Mata Nui been awake.
7Greg

1QUOTE 2I just have a couple new questions I was thinking about. By the way, I'm not trying to drive crazy with my power question for number one. I just need a rough estimate for a story I am making:
31) How powerful would you say a Matoran Nui is? Powerful enough to perhaps wear a noble mask?
4No. Merging Matoran does not give them the mental skills and discipline necessary to operate a Mask of Power.
52) When will we learn more info on the Red Star?
6Can't answer any of these. (2-6)
73) Are the Bohrok connected to the Red Star in some way?
84) Does the planet Bionicle takes place on have any moons?
95) Is the Red Star really a star?
106) Why is the Red Star important?
117) What beast lies beneath the Great Temple on Metru Nui?
12It's a huge Rahi.
138) Is the Red Star have any connection to where Mata Nui is hidden?
14No.
159) Is there anything guarding Mata Nui (such as a warrior or Rahi) from being awaken?
16You can argue that all of the Rahi who were trying to stop the Toa from getting Masks of Power were working to stop Mata Nui from being awakened.
1710) I believe that you said things went wrong on Metru Nui that would have never happened if Mata Nui were awake. I believe I heard that Mata Nui was still awake at the begining of 2004. If this is so, how could the kidnapping of the Toa and the Morbuzakh rampage have occured while MN was still awake?
18The events you mentioned were not the ones I was referring to. We still have a whole movie coming this year, remember.
1911) Is Mata Nui on Metru Nui (I understand if you can't answer that but it is worth a try)?
20No.
2112) How exactly did Makuta trigger the mechanism to awke the Bohrok?
22Probably just hit a switch.
23Thanks

27Hope you guys are happy that I fixed the questions so that they aren't question question answr answer.
28I found that how he couldn't answer question four was pretty interesting. Are moons in the future for Bionicle?

1This is this the rank order of Bohrok krana.
2Xa, Za, Vu, Ca, Yo, Ja, Su, Bo
3I found this image and asked him about it, and he confirmed it.
#1418
1Koosa: We gots new questionses. 21. How are you doing right now?
31) Okay. Things are a bit hectic now.
42. Just out of curiosity, what is your all-time favorite Bionicle character, good or evil?
52) Hmmmm .. I have a soft spot for Kopaka.
63. You said that "brothers" in Bionicle means beings who work and fight together, yet, Mata-Nui and Makuta don't see, to be even on speaking terms. So, what's up?
73) Well, I have a brother I haven't spoken to in years The fact that there is some bond, whether by blood or in other ways, does not guarantee there being a positive relationship.
84. When you said Makuta will return in a different way, did you mean that the Matoran think of him in an okay way?
94) No
105.I know you probably can't answer this but, it's worth a shot. WHY do the Matoran need to repopulate Metru-Nui? Does it trigger something or other?
115) That's not really something I can discuss until the relevant story bible has been completed.
126. You say Lhikan was not a Matoran on Metru-Nui. But, I think I also remember you saying that there aren't any other populated islands (like Mata or Metru-Nui). So, is he from wherever Mata-Nui came from?
136) No
147. Pertaining to #6, where did Mata-Nui come from? If you don't know, do you know when we'll find out or how all things in Bionicle came to be?
157) Anything on this subject would have to be filed under "can't answer it."
168. Did Krekka and Nidhiki come from a place we know of?
178) No, not to my knowledge. You only know of two places and they came from neither.
189. About Proto-Morby, does it resemble the Morbuzahk in general terms? What's different? Is he weaker?
199) Don't know yet, still writing that book.
2010. Did Mata-Nui start the constuction of Metru-Nui? If not, did he inspire or plan any of it???
2110) I am sure he inspired a great deal of it. Did he start building it himself, probably not.
2211. Why is Lhikan (now Lhii) a Matoran on Mata-Nui? Did something happen to him?
2311) He's not. Think back, there are references to Lhii in 2001, but you never actually SAW him. The references referred to his dying in a lava surfing accident. None of that was true. The Turaga did not want Lhikan to be forgotten, but they also couldn't tell the truth about him without revealing everything about Metru Nui ..so they made him into a Matoran legend.
2412. Is the fifth enemy more frightening than Makuta, according to what you think?
2512) Can't discuss fifth enemy
2613. About the "lot of transparent pieces" thing. Are those pieces on the fifth enemy?
2713) I don't know what you are referring to?
2814. Can you tell us who told the Matoran that Mata-Nui was asleep? (I'm assuming it's Makuta...)
2914) No. Watch the movie.
3015. Is 'Voyage of Fear' about a trip across the proto-sea? It IS a voyage and this nowhere to sail other than that sea.
3116. Also, am I correct in assuming that the Turaga (Vakama and his little tykes...) sail (at all) in that book?
3215-16) Can't discuss this -- none of it would make any sense to you until you have seen the movie.
3317. If Dume controls the Vahki, and Lhikan (sort of an "apprentice" to Dume) gave the Toa stones to Vakama & Co., then why is Dume NOT telling the Vahki to leave them alone? Did Lhikan say to Dume, "Hey, bubba: I'm gonna go give these Toa Stones to Matoran to save Metru-Nui: Bye:" ????
3417) No. Dume does not even know that the Toa Metru exist until they present themselves to him in the Coliseum, after they have defeated the Morbuzakh. Lhikan did this on his own.
3518. Is the fifth enemy in any way related to ANYONE we have even just heard of before?
3618) Can't answer it.
3719. Do the 2005 sets have their "own" function? Like how in the Bohrok saga, the "function" was snapping heads. In MoL Saga, it was swing side-to-side. This is.... mixed. So, what about next year?
3819) I can't discuss next year's product, sorry. We are only halfway through this year.
3920. (Last one) Can you reveal Lhikan's destiny? If so, what is it?
4020) No. Watch the movie.
41Thanks: I have a rumbly in my tumbly that you won't be able to answer some of these, but, it narrows things down: 42Thanks a heap:
43Hmm... About 15-16, I think I do know. Morbuzahk captures Matoran. Matoran get put to sleep and trasported (somehow) to another place. Turaga Vakama & Co. go to find them. It at least makes sense:

1Sorry about not putting the questions and answers together, guys, it has occured to me, but I've just been too lazy. Will do this time definately; it's needed: ;) And in the future. Thanks for telling me you find it annoying; don't like to be annoying and not know it:
2First, general questions:

  • 3In this topic: How Many Kanoka Powers?, a math topic, DragonMaster2050 has calculated how many Kanoka there can be if we take into account two assumptions. One, that combining two identical-powered disks does not result in a new power, which you told us. However, he also assumes the if you have a disk that's already made of several, such as a reconst. and a weaken, and add another disk that's the same type as a component of the "higher class" disk, add in another reconst. at random, for example, that this would also not result in a new power.
4Using that, he calculated there can only be 256 Kanoka powers possible. Now, I want to ask about that second assumption, because I don't beleive you've ever said that, for one, and it also doesn't seem to work. It seems to me it's about ratios; adding two identical ones not changing powers makes sense to me, it's like adding two identical mixes in a recipe. But adding more of a single component, would change the ratio. Plus 256 seems like way to little; there's been about 80 powers made up already, with 20 years planned. Seems that'd be too much like "painting into a corner" as you have put it.
5So which is true? Would that kind of combo make a new power? If you know? (I hope I explained it well enough; you can read the topic if I didn't.)
6GregF: We have never sat down and quantified how many powers could exist, because as you pointed out, we don't paint ourselves into corners that way. You make a good point that doing what you suggest is changing the proportion, but would that really make a difference? I mean, I can add twice the flour to a cake ... it may come out tasting differently, but it will still be a cake. I'm not going to stamp my foot and sayno on this, but my vision was that the new power came from the interaction of Power A and Power B, and it didn't matter all that much if it was two of Power A and one of Power B. However, I also see the side of the argument that says that if you have a huge difference in proportions -- say, six A and one B -- all you are going to wind up with in the end is a diluted Power A.

  • 7Are Kanohi originally supposed to be worn by Rahi? This came up in this topic: The Complete Theory Of Everything 2.0 by Gukko, based on this quote from an answer you gave me:
8bonesiii: Tahu encounters what I assume are Kofo-Jagas, and demasks one. He describes the mask as "tiny." So, there can be smaller versions of masks? And these would be common on small Rahi on Mata Nui?
9GregF: Sure. Just means using a smaller mold.

10The question is if Kanohi were generally on Rahi already, or if Matoran made those Kanohi, then placed them on Rahi, and then later Kraata infected them.

  • 11I wonder because, it seems Rahi do not depend on Kanohi to function as a Matoran does. So, two questions you probably can't answer ):) , do they depend on Kanohi, and if not, would Kanohi (Matoran level, I'm not talking about powers like sheilding, just about the power that keeps Matoran functioning) give Rahi any sort of advantage when worn? Any effect other than the effect when infected.

12GregF: Rahi do not need Kanohi to exist, because we know that removiing them did nothing but free them from Makuta's influence. The Rahi wearing Kanohi on Mata Nui were most likely fitted with them by Makuta. And Rahi cannot use mask powers.

  • 13Is Dume's staff the tool that he uses to talk to Vahki? Jala12's idea in this topic: Dume's Staff:, A theory..., with the comment that it looks like a sculpture of a Vahki head on the end.
14So far as I know, that is not the function of his staff.

  • 15I've been trying to find info on the stone rat. Gukko said this about it in the bio for his MOC of it:
16Stone Rat 17This small creature is a common pest around Metru Nui, much like the Keru. Many are trapped and sent to the Archives, where there are said to be thousands of them: - Mentioned in comic #17

18Not having comic 17, I had to look at the online one, which didn't mention it. Gukko just told me it was from one of the books, but he's too busy at the moment to look for the quote. He directed me to this quote from Master of the Rahkshi's Guide to Metru Nui topic:
19stone rat. You wouldn't want one of these for a pet. They've got teeth built for shredding through stone. Put a chute or an Ussal cart or even a Knowledge Tower between them and their dinner and they'll that too.

20So, anyways, I was wondering if you could tell me what the official quote is about it? And which book it's in? If you have time?
21GregF: I believe the stone rats are in The Darkness Below. However, Gukko's comment that they are trapped and sent to the Archives is not accurate. Like the Krahka, some live beneath the Archives, but they are not exhibits there.
  • 22Looking at Vahki Rorzakh's power, of Presence, I wonder, if the Rorzakh was to use his power on one Matoran, then on another, would the effect "jump" to the next one, and leave the first? Or would the Vahki be able to "multitask" and see both? It seems too much of that would cause the clockwork equivalent of an overload. And... what about its own vision? Does it see where it's going while using its power?
23GregF: Multi-tasking would most likely be difficult for a Rorzakh. Ideally, if more than one Matoran needs to be monitored, more than one Vahki will use their staffs. And yes, they are able to maintain their awareness of their surroundings while monitoring, although their reaction time is slowed significantly.

24Tales of the Masks questions (Yes, I skipped #s 2 & 3; didn't get them. Hope to. ):)):
25First of all, let me say, I love the concept of number 4, the Turaga telling stories of searches for Nuva masks, while debating whether to tell stuff to the Toa. It works very well. We get to see some excellent characterization of the Turaga, and learn of an important meeting. Plus more mask searching, which I personally always enjoy. ):)
26Okay, questions now. Some of these will be more of comments then question; I guess I'm "reviewing" it. You don't have to say anything about the comments:
  • 27First, I have to ask, is Matoro under some sort of oath of secrecy or something? He is there, and hears all this; it seems by now he must already know a lot about Metru Nui. Yet the Turaga do not seem concerned in the least. I mean, I'm sure they trust him, but how does he know where to draw the line on what's allowed to be known to other Matoran, and what's not? I suppose... being a Ko-Koronan, it might not be hard to keep secrets.
28GregF: Actually, you bring up an interesting point about Matoro. I just wrote a scene in Book 6 where Nuju is contemplating what a burden Matoro carries -- hearing so many things and not being able to share them with his friends, even when it would be in the Matorans' interest to know. Nuju actually goes to confront Vakama about something and purposely leaves Matoro behind so as not to add to that burden.

  • 29I think you have said this before, but I just want to confirm while I'm at it, these Kanohi Nuva were hidden in these places all along, right?
30GregF: My feeling is that they probably did not appear on the island until the Toa became Nuva. That is just my theory, though.

  • 31Regardless, if a Toa Olda were to accidentely find a Kanohi Nuva, or if they weren't there, if one were somehow to be made, would they be able to use it?
32GregF: I would say no, just because we need to keep a clear division between the powers and abilities of the two forms of Toa.

  • 33Early in the meeting, Vakama seems reluctant to do the storytelling thing; he says:
34"I have heard the tales," answered Vakama. 35"Heard, yes... but have you listened?" said Nokama. 36Vakama thought about her words for a very long time. Perhaps Nokama was right. There might have been something in the Toa's most recent deeds that he had missed."

37Now, I hadn't caught that the first time I read it through, so when Vakama said near the end, "I asked Nuju to keep his silence" and because it was Vakama that called the meeting that he had intended this story get told during it. But if he was reluctant to do the storytelling thing, that argues against it. Also on this subject is in the first section, when Nuju gives Vakama a nod.
38So, my question is, I guess, what exactly was Vakama thinking about this; when had he originally planned to tell the Turaga? I'm not quite getting this. Had he intended they not know at all?

39GregF: I don't think Vakama had a set time in mind. Like Turaga in general, he releases info on a need to know basis only. And for reasons that will become clear in Book6 this year, the Rahi Nui is a really bad memory for the Turaga.

  • 40Not really a question, but wanted to highlight the part in ch.1 where it says Kopaka's in this remote place:
41Even other Ko-Matoran rarely go there, so no other living being interrupts his time alone. 42Most of the time.

    43Just excellent. ):) Oh, and
44"Mata Nui can hear you, and he is sleeping," Kopaka muttered.

45:lol: Oh, I could highlight more, but time is wasting... Anyways, well written:
  • 46Should we assume that Toa carry around some sort of backpack or something? Kopaka had a lightstone, Onua and Whenua had a meal, etc. From their packs, I see. Do they always carry some sort of pack?
47GregF: Yes, I see them as having a pack especially when mask collecting, krana collecting, etc. Gotta put them somewhere.

  • 48Why didn't Kopaka try to use his Akaku to see if Pohatu was alive under the rock? Did he have to keep the Hau ready, perhaps?
    49GregF: Yes

  • 50Nice part when Pohatu shows up again: Kopaka can smile after all: This part was funny:
51"Pohatu: It is good to see you once more," Kopaka began. Then he swiftly added, "I mean, it is good to know that Po-Koro will not be left undefended in this time of danger."

52Plus you set that whole thing up well; through the whole chapter it was being set up. Good:

  • 53Oh, speaking of the meal thing, I know you've already told us all you know about it, but I came up with a possibility, I guess I should run by you. Came up with this based on something sorahl of lekoro said in this topic (I quote him in my May 26 post there): Can Matoran Eat?, A new theory by lavaside rahi. In MNOLG, plants are cut, leaves taken off, bamboo chopped down, etc. Fruit, I assume, would actually be picked off. Now, if Matoran only ate by absorbing energy, there'd be a bunch of energyless fruit left over or something. In this case, since the Fruit would probably grow back like the other parts of plants, it would seem to work fine if Matoran simply ate the fruit. Yet, with Rahi, like fish, if they actually ate them, the fish should go extinct pretty fast. So in this case, your absorbing energy theory makes the best sense.
54Well, my theory is that Matoran need to both eat plants, and absorb energy ("life energy" as Gukko would call it) from Rahi to survive. And some Rahi only need to eat plants, or other predatorial ones might need both, or only one, whatever. Then the Rahi, such as fish, would have to be released, so they can recharge their energy in their particular way.
55Also, it occurred to me, if all Matoran had to do was recharge life energy, they could perhaps keep them in a tank, and then they'd never need to fish. But perhaps the Turaga want them to release the fish, for one because the fish must be out in their natural environment to recharge their energy, and also because the fishing skills of the Matoran would go lax from lack of practice otherwise, so if the tank were to suddenly break they might not be as good at fishing, and might starve, at least from the life energy half.
56So, anyways, there's my latest theory on the whole food issue.

  • 57On characterization of Onua, his faults are not as obvious as Tahu, temper, Kopaka, overly quiet, Lewa, impulsiveness, and even Gali for a bit of a temper. But with Onua, it's not so clear. He seems very wise, only speaks when he has something to add, etc. (My favorite Toa, BTW.) Anyways, am I right to think that his main fault is he didn't try to work as hard to argue for unity as he could have? Gali was mad at him for not trying to convince the Toa out of splitting up. But then again, it can be wisest to stand back, and let people learn their own lessons sometimes. So, his weakness is he sometimes will "go along" and not try to argue too much when it seems nobody will listen?
58GregF: On Onua, I think you are pretty close to the mark. He is one of those beings who is a little too "hands off" sometimes. He wants others to have the opportunity to learn from their mistakes, rather than just stopping them from making the mistakes in the first place. Sometimes that is beneficial, sometimes it is the completely wrong way to go about things.

  • 59It seems the Turaga are being more "loose-lipped" as it were about their past than usual. It makes sense, of course, that we would see that now, after the MOL from the reader's point of view. But, were they purposefully letting more hints be known than before, or were they saying these hints accidentely, just because the issue of whether they should tell the Toa is on their minds more?
60GregF: I think a lot of the Turaga have simply felt guilty about lying and also the secret has been eating away at them. Especially now that the Toa have lost their powers, the Turaga have that same feeling of a retired athlete watching someone else play and KNOWING he could do better. Some of them really, really want to tell (as you will see going forward, in a lot of ways the Toa Metru really never got their due as Toa).

  • 61"My mind told me they have a sting," Whenua replied. "My heart told me I would not enjoy it."

62Brilliant. Love that part. Oh, and:
63"One day, I will walk along a beach in Onu-Wahi," the Toa said at one point. "And I will spot a Kanohi mask hanging from a tree. I will pluck it like a fruit and my search will be done." 64Whenua laughed. "Yes. The same day Makuta decides he would like a little sun, and perhpas a friendly game of kolhii."

65More brilliance:  Makuta did indeed play a game of Kolhii, and he did get a little sun, so to speak...
66GregF: Actually, there is a story behind that section. Back before I came to work here, when BIONICLE was first being planned, someone involved on the original team suggested that masks should just be lying around in the open or be able to be plucked from trees, rather than being hidden. So that line was a little nod and smile in that direction.

  • 67Manas, still functioning? I take it MNOLG was wrong to portray them as shutting down? In Tales of the Toa, it was different, and you told me this about that:
    bonesiii Q and GregF A
68Hapka also has the Toa Kaita disable the Manas by taking off their masks, while in MNOLG they had to disable those tower things that controlled them. Which is official?
69The way I am approaching it is that the towers do not control them, but they are a power source for them and destroying them weakened them. Hapka was working from sources other than MNOLG, because she did not have access to the game -- she was working from original story bibles, which the game had deviated from in places.

70So, they were weakened by the towers being destroyed, then frozen, and then the masks were taken off, and then they became essentially really strong but otherwise normal Rahi? Thawed, and then walked free?
71GregF: Yes. In fact, if you check out Book 5: Voyage of Fear, you might spot some familiar crab-like shapes. (I love tossing little things into the books that only the really hardcore fans will get ... by the way, Book 5 also includes the fate of Ahkmou and helps to explain why he came back to Mata Nui still being such a creep.)

  • 72"...like a fish to a reef, the presence of a Kanohi has drawn the Manas." So, Manas can sense the presence of Kanohi, and want to stay in that area?
    73GregF: Yes

  • 74Did Onua know there was a subterranean river behind that cave wall? Or did he just start tunneling, and find it?
75GregF: He made an educated guess. Onua can sense movement in the earth, after all.

  • 76So, what did start the fire in Le-koro?
77GregF: Most likely a lightning strike or some other natural event.

  • 78Ah.... so, did Tahu perhaps blame Lewa for not being able to warn the Toa about the Kal? From this:
79"Nuhvok Kal has been here," [Tahu said. "This is its work." 80"How could a Bohrok Kal do this?" 81"It controls gravity, Lewa. First it makes the trees so light they float out of the ground, then so heavy that they crash to earth and cannot be moved. You, of all Toa, should know that." 82Lewa stiffened. When he spoke, the normally light tone of his voice was gone, replaced by anger. "No. I did not choose the Bohrok darktime I lived through. I do not know where the Bohrok Kal are or what they are doing."

83So, Tahu is kinda saying, you should have known about the Kal and warned us? I mean, that's what's implied?
84GregF: Yes, Tahu has a real problem with trust when it comes to Lewa. He believes his mental link with the Bohrok might have tipped him to the existence of the Kal. Basically, Tahu is being a pain.

  • 85That whole section with the Kal is brilliant. I love how Tahu teases the Kal's immense ego. Nuhvok Kal's my favorite, too, so maybe that's it. Gravity is so cool: Anyways, Tahu vineswinging... funny. Oh, and how that ended was cool; Kal bringing down trees as it escapes. This is why I loved the Kal; don't get why others didn't, they are excellent characters.

  • 86Nice use of the Makuta Fish: both chasing Hahli and their bones later with Gali, and the statement that bones of a Makuta fish were used to make Nokama's staff. I remember I and another member directed you to that info a while ago, nice to see it used: I actually do have a question; is it possible some of these same bones (no pun intended..) or other in this cave in the past were the ones Nokama's staff is from? Because it seem doubtful Nokama would purposefully kill a creature to get the bones.
  • 87Any possibility Makuta fish are named after Makuta for their scaryness, big teeth, etc.?
88GregF: Ah, the Makuta fish ):) You will actually learn how and why it got its name and the origin of the staff in Book 5: Voyage of Fear.

  • 89I take it becoming a Turaga feels somewhat like losing Toa powers due to Kal stealing symbols? And that would be what Nokama meant here:
90The Toa of Water's eyes flashed. "I cannot hear the water. I am deaf to the song of the waves, Nokama.... 91"WIth respect, Turaga, that is easy for you to say. You do not know what this feels like." 92"Nokama laughed softly. "You are so wise, Gali, yet you know so little. You are swimming in my wake, Toa. There is nowhere you can go that I have not traveled before."

93GregF: Yes, it is very similar.

  • 94All right, Kopaka's way it is, then, she said to herself. Assuming Nokama is not being controlled by Makuta, she wanted....

95Alright, this is the first instance of a mention of Makuta I could find (unless you count the fish...), so I'll begin the question here, but also referencing when Makuta speaks later. Did the Toa already suspect that Makuta might not have really been.. defeated-for-good? Because Gali says this, maybe as a mere figure of speech, yes, but later the Toa don't seem all that surprised when Makuta talks. So, did they already know or suspect by this time, or were you just not dwelling on that, since folks have already seen the MOL, or at least heard the ads, so know he's coming back?
96Oh, I see #3 is called Makuta's Revenge. I take it I missed something vital by skipping to four?
97GregF: The Makuta's Revenge title doesn't have much bearing on this. But yes, the Toa eventually did realize that it was a liitle silly of them to think they took Makuta out so easily.

  • 98I take it the Turaga set up all these obstacles? I have had the theory for quite a while that the Turaga hid the Kanohi, and wasn't going to ask you about it, but this scene in the Gali (well, Nokama) chapter seems to be screaming it; carvings, a trap door, polished walls (among so many other hints). So, if you can reveal, did the Turaga hide the Kanohi?
99GregF: Yes. They also hid the Mata Nui Toa stones.

  • 100Took Gali a bit long to figure out the lightfish weren't lightfish. But then, maybe she wasn't thinking clearly because of her frustration?
    101GregF: You got it

  • 102Neat tentacular Rahi, BTW: The ultimate Octupus, what with the beaks on the tentacles, too. Well, not oct, with twelve tentacles, but you know.
  • 103I like the legend about the horned lava rat: Neat. Sounds familiar.... Aesop's fables and all. (I think that's what I'm thinking of...)
  • 104I take it Bohrok would avoid the "place of shadow" because they somehow knew of the Rahi Nui? How could they know? Or did they just avoid it because it's dark and scary? ):)
105GregF: Well, krana are living creatures ... and living creatures can sense when a place is "off."

  • 106Just to confirm, because characters aren't always right, is Gali's theory that Makuta made the illusion of the wall in the Bohrok tunnels, as he did the fake flames, correct?
    107GregF: Yes
  • 108I take it the "many armed sea creature" as Gali theorized about it in the place of fire in that carving is actually Morby? Lotsa tentacles, Great Furnace, right as all us folks were learning of Morby...
    109GregF: Yes
  • 110Why were Onua, Pohatu, Lewa, and Vakama in the same cave at the same time? Were they all going for the mask earlier, and Vakama accompanying them, or did they wander in at different times?
111GregF: They wandered in and were trapped at differen times.
  • 112Not quite getting this, did those stalactites that covered up the hole, the way out, fall from above? How'd they get there?
113GregF: You notice the Toa never actually try to get past the spikes ... it was another of Makuta's illusions.
  • 114I take it the ancient text Vakama is refferring to about the Rahi Nui was from an archive in Metru Nui? (Loved Lewa's response to that, BTW, "Well, those were cheerhappy words". )
115GregF: Sort of .. it was one created by the Toa Metru after their encounter with it.
  • 116Neat part:
117"Let us see how he [the Rahi Nui compares to the power Hau Nuva." [Tahu said 118The Rahu Nui stared at the little being who dared to stand in its path. Then it lowered its head and charged, striking Tahu's sheild and sending the Toa of Fire flying across the chamber. Onua moved swiftly to put himself between Tahu and the stone wall, taking the impact on his own mighty body. Though neither was seriously hurt, both had the wind knocked out of them. 119"Question answered," said Kopaka.

120Topic closed.... I have to wonder, did you put that in there as an allusion to BZP Mods? Sounds very familiar...
121GregF: No, that was just me, nothing to do with BZP ):)
  • 122Aaaand finally, neat end there; merging into the MOL. Nothing's more imprtant than the kolhii ball tournament, nope. Well, a very well written and enjoyable story, Greg:
123Sorry that's so many questions. You wrote Tales of the masks too well. :sly:

124And, about the Turaga hiding the Masks, I have now opened a topic on that here: The Turaga Did Hide The Masks Of Power
#1420
1In response to Greg's point on Kanoka powers brought up in bonesiii's post:
2I think the proportion might matter. For example (I'm in a chemisty class right now, so bear with me :P ), in molecular terms, if we take one of Oxygen (Power A) and two of Hydrogen (Power B), we get Water (Power C). However, if we take two of Oxygen (Power A) and two of Hydrogen (Power B-) we get Hydrogen Peroxide (definitely not Power C).
3Now, I know that in our world, molecular formulas don't really matter a whole loy when you are making solutions. For example, you're going to get some Lemonade whether you use a pinch of mix and a bucket of water, or a can of mix and a few drops of water. Granted, it will be different strength (like Greg's cake metaphor), but it will still be Lemonade. HOWEVER, we are dealing with Kanoka here; discs that have -powers-, that is, properties that cannot be easily explaned in physical terms, or possibly might even be metaphysical. When dealing with something this mysterious and unpredictable, I think that the molecular formula example sets a good precedent for what might happen.

4This is just my opinion, of course, feel free to believe whatever you wish. ):)

1Ok got some Questions for ya...

21:when will the fourth book be releast?
31) I believe September. The city book comes out first.
42:somone asked you a question about the Matoro Nuju translating thing, and you mentiond him leveing matoro to talk with Vakama in the 5th (or 6th?) book,so Vakama can understand Nuju's beeps & whisles?
52) Roughly, he can. Don't forget, he has known Nuju for over a thousand years. In that time, you get to the point where you can take a pretty good guess at what someone is saying, even if you can't understand every word.
63:You also sed the Turaga hid the toa stones, were the Metru-nui toa stones hiden also?or did Lihkan half to go & find them?
73) Not hidden, but in a protected place.
84:Will the fourth book spiol the movie?I'm asking becuse I had herd the movie was kinda being spred over the 4th 5th & 6th books,so I was wondering if it would actully be spioled or just make me want to see the movie even more?
94) The entire movie story is in the fourth book, so yes, if you read it before you see the movie it will act as a spoiler. Books 5 and 6 take place after the movie, sort of .. it is hard to explain until you have seen the film.

11Thanks for your time...

12Ansers in bold.

1#1: Of all the Vahki, which type would you want to run intothe least?
2Probably the Bordakh.
3#2: Can you ever escape a Vahki?
4Only with great difficulty, and I doubt a Matoran could manage it.
5#3: I am not sure if you have any knowledge of this, but cat you explain to me the Vahki font? Because some letters are backwards and others have fancy things coming off of them. Is there a pattern or anything? Or could you send me the entire font list?
6The font is based on Russian writing. That is why the backwards letters.
7#4: Do Vahki sleep in Stasis Tubes like Bohrok?
8No.
9#5: About the Krahka. Can she only turn into one creature at a time? Because in the book, she was just the Rahkshi armor, and no Kraata was inside.
10She did not duplicate the kraata because she did not know it existed. All she had seen the was the exterior of the Rahkshi.

11#6: Do you like to make new creations with your BIONICLE sets? I really liked the Krahka one you made, are you planning on releasing any more combos?
12I don't really have time to make MOCs, and I didn't make the Krahka .. it was actually made by the senior LEGO product designer in Denmark.

1QUOTE 2Hi Greg, this will be quick
31) I heard the wall pohatu and onua were trying to break down back in the bohrok saga was made by Makuta. I always thought it was the bahrag since they have the power of illusion, so which one do you say it is?
42) You worked really hard on that kraata power list, do you know if it will ever be back on bionicle .com?

51) In the Bohrok comic? Yes, that was made by the Bahrag. The illusions created by Makuta happened during the Bohrok-Kal storyline.
62) Possibly. I can mention it to the web team.

1Hey: Here are a few questions. 21) Do you ever put jokes in comics, if so, which comics? 32) Is there anything good that Mata-Nui is asleep? 43) Who is commanding the Morbuzakh? 54) Will Takanuva ever get Nuva power? 65) Is there a village for Takanuva? 76) Are Mata-Nui and Metru-Nui the only islands? 87) Is there going to be an 8th Toa that accompanies Tahu, Lewa, Pohatu, Gali, Kopaka, Onua, and Takanuva? 9Just a reminder, I want this question answer, not question question answer answer.

1Here's my latest answers from Greg. They're question-answer.
2Hi Greg, could you please answer these questions:
31) You said that the Turaga told that Lhii had died in a lava surfing accident. Is that true, and if so, when and where was it published?
4I believe all the references to Lhii were in MNOLG. They weren't in anything I wrote.
52) Does the Fikou Nui from the cancelled Legend of Mata Nui game exist in the official storyline?
6Not that I know of, no.
73) Same with the different built Ussal and Kofo-Jaga?
8Do not know. They have certainly not appeared anywhere.
94) Why does the Powerpack Hafu come with a disk with a Hau on it when he is from Po-Koro?
10Well, Po-Matoran are perfectly capable of wearing a Hau shaped mask. Pohatu has a Hau as well as his regular mask.
115) Are Matoran masks grey when not being worn? If so why is Takua's mask blue when he wears it?
12Just discussed this with someone the other day. The story team's feeling is that Matoran masks are colored when they are produced, and that the whole "changing color when you put it on" applies only to masks that have powers.
136) In MNOLG when Lewa was infected in the Rama hive, you saw him jump and hit a Kahu, and many people think he used his Miru to do it. But he didn't wear his normal Miru at that that time, but another, infected Miru. 14So either he didn't use his Miru to make that attack, or the infected Miru was actually a Great Mask. I know you didn't work on the MNOLG, but do you know the answer?
15It is certainly possible it could have been a Great Mask, since there was more than one Miru on the island. HOWEVER, Miru is a Mask of Levitation, which is of a lot more use if you are in the air and not wanting to fall. It doesn't let him jump like the Hulk or take off like Superman.

167) Why did the Turaga hide the Great Masks and Toa stones, and when did they do it?
17I am not going to go into when, but I can do why. They wanted to make sure the wrong beings did not get their hands on this kind of power, so they hid them in places that only those with the hearts of true Toa could find them.

188) Did they both hide the olda and Nuva masks?
19In a sense, yes, but in different ways.
209) Where did they get the Great Masks?
21They were made in Metru Nui.
2210) How could the Manas combine to a Mana-Ko in Tale of the Toa? I thought the Mana-Ko was a different Rahi?
23Will check, my Mana-Ko knowledge is rusty.
2411) Was the Comets still used in Po-Koro after the infection in MNOLG?
25If they knew the balls were cleansed of infection, they would still use them. If there was a question, they would not have used them.
26Thanks in advance
27Hafu

28I'll soon PM him back about some of the questions.

1First off, thanks for the confirmation on the Turaga hiding masks: I assumed you wouldn't be able to answer.

  • 2In the topic I made about that, Galigee wondered if the Turaga also hid the Avhokii. So I will ask, did they? If you can reveal?
3I don't have any info on who hid the Mask of Light.
  • 4muaka&kanera: I heard the wall pohatu and onua were trying to break down back in the bohrok saga was made by Makuta. I always thought it was the bahrag since they have the power of illusion, so which one do you say it is?
5GregF: In the Bohrok comic? Yes, that was made by the Bahrag. The illusions created by Makuta happened during the Bohrok-Kal storyline.

6Where he heard that was from you latest answers to me, and I thought that's what you said, too. I guess you misunderstood what I was asking?
7bonesiii: Just to confirm, because characters aren't always right, is Gali's theory that Makuta made the illusion of the wall in the Bohrok tunnels, as he did the fake flames, correct?
    8GregF: Yes

9By Bohrok tunnels, I assumed she meant in the comic, where Lewa figured out the wall was an illusion. Gali says that Makuta must have made that (in Tales of the Masks, says this), though they had assumed it was the Bahrag. So, are we talking about the same thing?
10Sorry, I did misunderstand your question. The Bahrag did create the wall in the Bohrok storyline. However, when they encounter another illusion, and know that the Bahrag could not be responsible, Gali assumes that Makuta must have been responsible for all of it. The Toa at times can be very two-dimensional thinkers.

1[li]I've been trying to find info on the stone rat. Gukko said this about it in the bio for his MOC of it:
2Stone Rat 3This small creature is a common pest around Metru Nui, much like the Keru. Many are trapped and sent to the Archives, where there are said to be thousands of them:

4Not having comic 17, I had to look at the online one, which didn't mention it. Gukko just told me it was from one of the books, but he's too busy at the moment to look for the quote. He directed me to this quote from Master of the Rahkshi's Guide to Metru Nui topic:
5stone rat. You wouldn't want one of these for a pet. They've got teeth built for shredding through stone. Put a chute or an Ussal cart or even a Knowledge Tower between them and their dinner and they'll that too.

6So, anyways, I was wondering if you could tell me what the official quote is about it? And which book it's in? If you have time?
7GregF: I believe the stone rats are in The Darkness Below. However, Gukko's comment that they are trapped and sent to the Archives is not accurate. Like the Krahka, some live beneath the Archives, but they are not exhibits there.

8Wha?: Seeing as I mentioned my MOC Keru (which is NOT an official Rahi), I didn't expect anyone to take my made-up Stone Rat bio seriously. I stuck in the "mentioned in comic 17" because I didn't know where they were mentioned - either that comic or Trial by Fire. I meant to go check, then I forgot. I actually don't own The Darkness Below yet, so I doubt it's in that.
9So, yeah. Please don't take me for a fool.-_-

5Disk launchers are forged, like most tools are on Metru Nui.

1Timekeeper, I don't think they could have been cleansed just by being thrown into the sea. But as I said I'll PM him back about some of the questions soon.
2Hafu

3Well, many things have been cleansed biy the waters in Bionicle, aswell as that's what Pohatu says in MNOLG1.
#1436
1I PM'ed Greg back about some of the questions, and here are the answers.
2Hi again Greg, I have some questions about my last PM:
33) Same with the different built Ussal and Kofo-Jaga?
4Do not know. They have certainly not appeared anywhere.

5But you said to someone else that the Kofo-Jaga in Tales of the Masks were the different built ones from the game?
6Sorry, I did not understand what the questioner was referring to.
74) Why does the Powerpack Hafu come with a disk with a Hau on it when he is from Po-Koro?
8Well, Po-Matoran are perfectly capable of wearing a Hau shaped mask. Pohatu has a Hau as well as his regular mask.

9Does that mean that any Matoran can have any disk, no matter what village they are from?
10Yes. The only restriction on disk use is in tournaments, where players must use disks produced in their own metru. Disks are traded among Matoran all the time.

13Then why does Takua have a blue masks?
14Same reason many Onu-Matoran wear purple masks. It is an accepted color in his metru.
1511) Was the Comets still used in Po-Koro after the infection in MNOLG?
16If they knew the balls were cleansed of infection, they would still use them. If there was a question, they would not have used them.

17In MNOLG they were just thrown into the sea. Does that cleanse them? If not, how you could you do it?
18They were thrown into the sea to be gotten rid of. If you wanted to cleanse them of infection (because there were certainly more in existence than they had to throw away), you would need all six Toa to do a cleansing ... it works in a similar way to the healing ritual done on Tahu in MOL.
19Thanks in advance
20Hafu

21So there's the answer on how they were cleansed Timekeeper.

6And sorry if I sounded a little ticked at bonesiii before. I wasn't at all (I was just trying to clear it up), but Tok said I came across a little harsh. Sorry if anyone interpreted it that way - me and bonesiii get along great, and I was never mad in the slightest. ):)
#1438
1The Stone Rat, was mentioned in the description of the Kinloka, which was featured in BIONICLE #17.
2Although this creature resembles an insect, it is in fact a particularly vicious form of a large rodent. A distant relative of the stone rats of Onu-Metru, this creature seems to be the result of an experiment to produce an animal with a more efficient digestive system. The unfortunate result was a nasty beast that is always hungry, and will devour anything in its path. They commonly carry disks with the weaken power to slow down opponents.

#1439
1Hey:I have a few questions. 21) Do you ever put jokes in the comics? 31) Not really, not jokes as such. There is some humor in the comics, but in general we don't do a ton of it in BIONICLE. 42)Is there anything good that Mata-Nui is asleep? 52) No. 63) Who is commanding the Morbuzakh? 73) Can't answer it. 84) Will Takanuva ever get Nuva power? 94) No plans for that. 105) Is there a village for Takanuva? 115) No. 126) Are Mata-Nui and Metru-Nui the only islands? 136) No. 147) Is there going to be an eighth toa that accompanies Tahu, Lewa, Pohatu, Gali, Kopaka, Onua, and Takanuva? 157) No plans for that.

7Oh, I didn't think so: I deserved it:  j/k I completely forgot to tell Greg that was supposed to be fictional. Shoulda. I understood. ):)
8And thank you, Denarr, for that. So, if I'm understanding this right, it was mentioned in Comic 17? In a description of the Kinloka?
9Well, since this has been brought to discussion in here, I might as well explain why I care, the bit of info I'm concerned with is where the stone rat lives primarily. For purposes in my stories, I am going to need a ratlike Rahi (official) to be a pest in a particular Metru. But I can't reveal which one or why. So, Gukko's description fits perfectly, because it's a pest all over the Metru. So I had PMed him, wondering which parts were official, and which he made up. He didn't have the quote, so that's why I asked Greg, but I forgot to mention that Gukko's thing wasn't supposed to be totally correct. So that's where the confusion was. That was my fault. Was in a hurry.
10Gukko said he made the bio up, so the stone rat may not work for what I want it for. I can work around that, and just make stuff up, or go with Gukko's thing, but since I don't yet know the stone rat won't work, I can't yet rule it out. Even saying that much is pushing it; don't want to ruin the future story of the Paracosmos. ):) (And this topic is about official stuff anyways.) So, anyways, that's the info I want; where is the stone rat a problem? So whoever gets the quote first, that's what I wonder. ):) I will ask Greg about that more specifically now, and clarify about wht I said earlier... PM sent.
11Oh... Silly me. Reading the Kinloka quote, it says stone rats are "of Onu Metru". I see. Hmm..... See, now, if I comment on that, people are going to know which Metru I need, so... I won't. :sly:
