1Hey guys...got a batch of questions and answers from GregF I've been meaning to post...figure now will be a good time to do so. 2First, I'm not sure if I've posted this one yet or not, but here it is.
3May, 4th
4Hey Greg, sorry if you recieve this more than once...my computer's acting up.
5Anyways, I was reading in the Kanohi and Kanoka forum a question about the Mask of Elemental Energy from the Bionicle PC game, and I was thinking, might this be a Toa version/precursor to Dume's Kiril, mask of regeneration? 6(I'd imagine, since the Kiril can repair items/places as a Turuga mask, might a Toa version repair a person?)
7Aoi
8I'd say no. The Mask of Elemental Energy was a power up, but it wasn't really something that healed damage as I understand it. In addition, the Kiril can be used multiple times, and the Mask of Elemental Energy was a one-use mask.
9May 5, this batch doesn't quite have anything to do with Bionicle, just some general knowledge I was wondering about late at night.
10Hey hey, Greg. I hope you don't mind me asking a question that's I've probally asked several times before, but I sat down tonight, decided to script a comic to publish online..since your the only comic writer I know of, that's quite open to talk to fans, I was hoping to get advice, and maybe a example of a few things.
11As someone who's going to be doing everything from penciling to writing, I was wondering if you could give me an example of a fictional storybible, to see if I'm writing mine properly. If not, would you stay a storybible is just a listing of cast, and locations, items and future plotlines?
121) A story bible is generally a write-up on all the major characters, powers, background, etc., and a synopsis of the year's story. In the case of BIONICLE, we break the story bible down into acts, which makes it easier for us to map out the year and decide which part of the story will be told where (comics, novels, web, etc.) 13The other thing I was wondering, how do you script the pages of the comics? Do you write what sort of panel it will be, what's in the panel, what dialoge? 142) Here is a sample panel from page 2 of BIONICLE 18: 15PANEL THREE 16THE HEROES ENTER AN ABANDONED FORGE. ALTHOUGH NO MATORAN WORKERS ARE THERE, THE FIRES ARE STILL ALIGHT. TOOLS ARE SCATTERED EVERYWHERE.
174 CAPTION: "We took refuge in an abandoned forge .. or at least we thought it was abandoned."
185 WHENUA: Looks like the workers left in a hurry. Wonder why?
19When I first started doing this, I did a web search and found a comic book script .. that is how I learned the proper format.
20Third, what books, if any, would you recommend to help a person out that's trying to start this as a hobby(and get those ideas running around my head on paper)? 213) Not sure offhand. I know there are books out there on how to write and draw comics, but I have never read any. My recommendation would be to read a lot of comics that are in the genre in which you will be writing. I have been reading comics for over 30 years and have about 28 long boxes of them at home, so that is really how I learned to do it. Another worthwhile thing to do is to look at movie scripts -- a comic script is very much like a mini-movie script.
22Fourth, I figured I'd ask permission(as I'm not sure if you'd want it posted), but would you like me to post this to the AskGreg topic, to help other writers that are getting started? 234) Sure, go ahead.
24May, 18 25Hey Greg, I was going throught the BZP Image Gallery and found this, I assume it's a screen cap from the Bionicle website, (I've retyped it, since I didn't know if I can post images..)
26"Takanuva is the legendary Seventh Toa, The Toa Of Light who is destined to free the Matoran from the dark power of Makuta. Takanuva is noble and wise and possesses a great deal of knowledge about the history of Mata Nui and it's people. However, he has much to learn in a short time if he is going to save the island from Makuta: Takanuva wears the Kanohi Korusca, the Great Mask of Light and carries the Koli Staff of Light."
27So, I was wondering, since Korusca seems to be a Bionicle word, via the discription, will we be seeing this word applied to anything else in the Bionicle mythos? 28No. I am not entirely sure why we switched to Avohkii, but the odds are it was for legal/trademark reasons, so I can't see Korusca turning up anywhere.
29As usual, Greg's answers in bold, and reformatted into question/answer question/answer format as requested.

8That was a mistake in the web-site of the game...they changed it eventualy.

1Answers in bold...
21. I see that all of the new sets that where resposed to be released later this year are know online at Lego Shop at Home. Is this for real, or did Lego just decide to release them early? 3Shop at Home always sells things early. Far as I know, the overall retail release dates are still the same. 42. Do they come with codes for videos in the Kanoka club? 5Not to my knowledge .. I know we did have people working on videos related to the three big sets, but I do not know if there are Kanoka cards in the sets or if you can simply get the videos with regular codes. 6Thanks for your time...
1Here are a couple of mildly interesting answers I just got back:
111. Yea: Greg is such a good writer, I'm glad he's gonna continue writing the series.
122. If you say so...
133. And I'm sure you could, too.
2These concern the long-term BIONICLE. I know you can't discuss it mostly, but if you can answer any of these, please do.
31. Are there going to be any more Bionicle Adventures after #6?
42. Does the 2005 storyline still take place in the past?
53. Is it true that the story bible is planned out for 20 years?
6Thanks.
71) Yes. I just received a publishing schedule for next year. Have not checked it out yet, but as far as I know, we will be doing six plus a guidebook again next year.
82) Can't discuss it. The 2005 storyline will not make sense to you until you see the movie.
93) BIONICLE is a rich universe. I have no doubt we could come up with story for 40 years if we had to.

1QUOTE 2This has been bugging me. What is up with the sparkley lids on the toa metru but some not having them?
3Is there a specific reason?
4Thanks in advance
5That was done as a way to differentiate the Toa Metru packages from last year's packaging, since we knew they would be on the shelf with some of last year's items. We did it on some manufacturing runs, not on others.
6Greg
7there you have it folks the reason for the lids that are sparkley

1here are 2 questions I asked Greg:
2QUOTE 3Are you almost done with the Rahi Contest, if so, or even if not, when will the winners be announced?
4We are done with the contest, and as it said in the rules, winners will be notified by mail by June 30th.
5Greg
6QUOTE 7okay doesn't this: 8Turaga Dume commands the Vahki and maintains order in Metru Nui. His mighty hawk Rahi Nivawk flies above the city watching and listening to all that goes on. What mysterious plans does Dume have for the Matoran, and how will they affect the Toa Metru?
9From Dume's bio on S@H really reveal that Dume is up to something bad, maybe he's not necessarily EVIL, but maybe strayed from the right path, or doing something bad that he thinks is good. Am I close, right, any info regarding this?
10Thanks Greg:
11I really can't discuss this. Dume's story is told in the movie, so you will have to wait for that to find out.

11.)You kept talking about a line in the movie that you were hoping they'd keep in (and keep us BZPers arguing for months).Any certainty that it WILL be in the movie?
2Yes, I am 99% certain it will.
32.)If it isn't, will you be able to share it anyways?(After the movie is released and all, of course.)
4It is already in the movie novelization.
53.)What was the motive behind the smaller comics (parts 1 and 3 of the Kal saga)? And why was Part 2 normal sized only to go back to small in the next issue?
6The reason for doing the digest sized comics was to save money so we could do the metallic cover in September. Since the fan reaction to the smaller comics was negative, we decided not to do them in that size anymore.
74.)When do we get to see _____ in the comic? 8a.)Dume 9b.)Nidhiki 10c.)Krekka
11September. I could not include them earlier because I did not have sets to give the artist for reference.
125.)This has been bugging me for a while. In the flash update near the end of the Bohrok saga, Nokama refers to Takua and Jala as "These two fine Matorans."In MoL's Ta-Koro attack, Tahu goes, "The Matoran..."Is the plural of Matoran 'Matorans,' or 'Matoran' (no S)?
13Plural is Matoran, same as plural of Toa is Toa.
146.)Can you at least give me a rough idea of when we might possibly learn why Cahdok referred to the Bohrok and Toa as brothers?I know it's confidential, but how secretive can a release date of info be?
15That will depend on when it gets written into the storyline. I know the storyline through '05, but not what is planned beyond that, so I really can't give you an answer.
167.)I think you said that Krahka was a Dark Hunter a while back, but recently, she's said to be a Rahi. Was this classification actually changed, or did you just mistake the name in the question to be Krekka?(Easy goof to make, I would think.)Or am I just crazy, and you've always said she's a Rahi?
17No, I never said Krahka was a Dark Hunter. That was a rumor that got started on BZP because people confused her name with Krekka. I created her and she was always a Rahi, nothing more.
188.)Okay, I got the newest comic from my local brand store.(Excellent job on it, by the way.)The middle pages with the Vahki, though, were a bit... odd. They just made Metru Nui seem a lot like a dictatorship. 19- The side-bar description says, "The VAHKI will always be nearby to protect you...Whether you like it or not." 20(Matoran text in the Vahki pictures 21- "A busy Matoran is a happy Matoran."(Sounds like involuntary labor.) 22- "Protecting you from yourself."(Sounds like a lot of human rights and freedoms (like opinion) are restricted.) 23- "Help Turaga Dume help you." 24- "Order above all." 25Are these little blurbs just what Vahki are programmed to believe?Actual restricted rights?Or just you being creepy again?(Like you were with some of those Metru Nui map messages.)
26They are intended to give a feel for the Vahki's role in society. I mean, let's face it, if you wander off your job you get mind-zapped by a police force that cannot be reasoned with and sees no shades of gray. I thought the lines summed it up pretty nicely.
279.)The Matoran Underworld is approved, right?(Or at least close to it, I think.)If it is, where will we see it?Web updates?Traces in the comics?I'd say books, but those are written already, aren't they?
28Yes, it is, and will most likely show up on a companion web site we are working on for the Metru Nui Citybook.
2910.)How far is the City Book going to go in covering the details of how the different jobs work?(Kanoka forging, to be specific.I could use as much knowledge about those job conditions and actions as I can get.)
30Well, you will get more details certainly than you have up to now, but not minute details. There were a lot of things that had to be covered. But the book does have WAY more meat than last year's guidebook did.
3111.)Would you consider Takanuva to be a Toa of Valor (like Tahu, Pohatu, and Onua), Wisdom (Kopaka, Gali, and Lewa), or an equal combination of both?
32I hadn't thought of him as either, since a Kaita is formed from three Toa and thus he would not be included in either.
3312.)So...No word on the Lhikan set?Do we have any hope or chance left to lean on?
34I think a Lhikan set is very likely this year. The only question is going to be how it is delivered -- I have heard two possible ways it may be offered in stores, and it might be either or both.
35Hm... Maybe Lhikan will be produced in limited quantities (like that Marsk-something ship of bricks LEGO has now)? Sure hope not; he'll sell out in a few hours. Let's just pray he'll be a TRU promo or something.
1About this previous question:2I've been trying to find info on the stone rat. Gukko said this about it in the bio for his MOC of it:3Stone Rat 4This small creature is a common pest around Metru Nui, much like the Keru. Many are trapped and sent to the Archives, where there are said to be thousands of them: - Mentioned in comic #17
5Not having comic 17, I had to look at the online one, which didn't mention it. Gukko just told me it was from one of the books, but he's too busy at the moment to look for the quote. He directed me to this quote from Master of the Rahkshi's Guide to Metru Nui topic:6stone rat. You wouldn't want one of these for a pet. They've got teeth built for shredding through stone. Put a chute or an Ussal cart or even a Knowledge Tower between them and their dinner and they'll that too.
7So, anyways, I was wondering if you could tell me what the official quote is about it? And which book it's in? If you have time?
8GregF: I believe the stone rats are in The Darkness Below. However, Gukko's comment that they are trapped and sent to the Archives is not accurate. Like the Krahka, some live beneath the Archives, but they are not exhibits there.
9I wanted to clarify, as I should have when asking it, Gukko's bio there is partly made up, on purpose, since it was made for his MOC Rahi topic. Wasn't supposed to be accurate to the official stuff. Thanks for saying that, don't misunderstand, but I just wanted to say I should have been more clear.
10And, to explain, I wonder this for my fanfics. This is why I didn't explain much; you aren't allowed to read those, so I shouldn't talk about that much. But I am basically wondering where the stone rat is a problem. I need a ratlike Rahi that is a problem in a particular Metru. But I don't want to say which, because that reveals stuff I want to keep secret for now so other members' surprise isn't ruined later when they read the answer (as you might say, 'can't answer it' ). I quoted Gukko's bio only because it allows for the stone rat to be a problem in any Metru, which works for what I need. So, I wonder which Metru or Metrus a stone rat might be a problem in, if you know. Thanks, and sorry about the lack of clarity earlier. )
11The only specific reference to a metru made with regard to stone rats is Po-Metru. However, we know they are beneath the Archives and we know that the Archives extend under virtually all the city. So they probably can pop up anywhere.
12Greg
13Perfect. )
1My comments are in blue. 21. Can Kopaka focus his powers through his shield? 3He probably could, but he never has.
42. Do the flying abilities of Rahkshi and Vahki have any connection to the Levitation disk/mask power? 5In the case of the Vahki, it is possible. In the case of the Rahkshi, no, because Rahkshi armor develops from kraata so there is no opportunity for a disk to be introduced.
63. Is it possible that certain Kanoka powers, if mixed into a disk, would cancel each other out? 7So, for example, like mixing a growing disk and a shrinking disk? No, because what you will get is a third power that is neither one. 8Those were the exact powers I was thinking about.
94. Are there Kanoka powers that cannot be used until the Kanoka is made into a mask? 10Good question. Not that I am aware of off the top of my head. 11I love it when he says "Good question."
125. Does Krahka have any connection to the room Rahi? 13No.
146. How exactly is Dume's mask activated? Does he just look at the thing he wants to regenerate, or does he have to touch it? 15He triggers the mask power mentally and has to be within sight of what he wants it to work on, but he does not need to be touching the object.
167. Do Vahki also act as rescue workers? For instance, would they help dig a Matoran out who was buried by a collapsed tunnel? 17Yes. 18See, they aren't just heartless enforcement automatons.
198. When was it decided (by the story team) that the Turaga of Mata Nui had been Toa, or was that something that was intended all along? 20I believe that was intended from the beginning. 21I'd always wondered about that. It's always been intimated that they were different. Heck, look at their bodies.
229. When exactly will the citybook be coming out? 23I think that is an August 1st book, which means it will be in stores by mid to late July, most likely.

It's always been intimated that they were different. Heck, look at their bodies. 5...
6Different than who? Matoran? If that's what you mean, it was definately stated right from the beginning, since they can use Noble Kanohi powers, while Matoran cannot use any mask powers.
7Besides the leadership differences. I mean, in their nature. Yes, different bodies is a big part of it, but so is the Kanohi bit. Just to clarify.
8Neat idea on Kopaka using his sheild to focus powers, BTW. Never woulda' occured to me.
1Actually, I think about the
5He meant about, If you go onto Bionicle.com the bio says " a matoran who has chosen the path of wisdom". It doesn't say anything about old toa.

11.In the newest flash movies about the Vahki(very awesome, btw), in the one about Vorzakh, he is seen forming a Kanoka in his mouth. What is up with that? Was that a liberty taken by the movie-makers, or can Vahki actually form Kanoka?
2GregF: Actually, I believe what the movie-maker intended there was to show the Vahki summoning a Kanoka into its launcher, as opposed to forming one. Their feeling was the alternative would be a Vahki having to put down its tools to load one.
32.If a Vahki uses its staff of Loyalty on a Matoran, will that Matoran even turn his best friend in, if need be?
4GregF: Oh yes.
53.Again, if the Staff of Loyalty is used on a Matoran, would that keep him from disobeying any laws for the period that he/she is under its influence? And would it report itself, if he/she had just previously been breaking the law?
6GregF: Yes again.
74.To expound on that last one, if the Matoran was running away from a Bordakh, and the Bordakh used its staff power, would the Matoran stop and turn himself/herself in?
8GregF: Yes a third time.
95.About how long would you say the influence of Vahki staffs last?
10GregF: It varies. My guess would be a minimum of 4 hours, a maximum of 24, depending on the strength of the blast..
116.In the Bordakh movie, were those Matoran part of the Underground?Or were they planning a coup?
12GregF: Neither. They were smugglers.
137.Lastly, in the Vahki movies, work is portrayed in a negative light, especially in the Nuurakh movie, where Ta-Matoran are seen marching to work, looking extremely unhappy.I thought you said that Matoran knew that their work was necessary to society.Care to explain?
14GregF: Well, my work is necessary too -- and fun -- but I don't always want to get up in the morning either ) Name any workplace you want and hang out there on a Monday morning, see how many people are marching in with a spring in their step. If you have to dig a ditch that is vital to your town, it's still really hard work so the odds are you won't be sitting home going, "Wow, can't wait to go dig that ditch:"

17Thanks.
- 1Can a Toa Nuva use an Olda Great or Noble mask?
2Yes, in a pinch, but he probably wouldn't want to.
- 3BTW, you might not be able to answer this, but I want to ask anyways. A while ago there was a hot topic on why the Vahi remains orange when taken off, and when worn by someone. In it, I theorized that it's an elemental mask, like the Avhokii. I say this because the Avhokii stays yellow when off. So does the Kraakhan, apparently. Also, Toa Vakama's Toa Kanoka, an elemental Kanoka, is not the usual Kanoka color; it is red. So my theory is that orange is the elemental color of time, as far as protodermis is concerned, and this is why it remains orange. Any idea if I'm right, if you can reveal?
4Well, that makes sense to me ... I am not sure if the Vahi looks orange in the movie though. It looks orange after the movie.
- 5Those last two came up in this topic: Takanuva, by yeah...that guy. He wondered if Takanuva can use other Kanohi. I remember you saying he can, and see no reason he couldn't, but since it was a while ago, and just to be sure, can he?
6Sure, why not? But not Kanohi Nuva.
- 7On that subject, you told me a Toa Olda probably can't use Kanohi Nuva. Well, Omicron pointed out that this means Takanuva can't share the Kanohi Nuva of the Toa Nuva. Is this correct? Just to be sure, again?
8No, in my mind, Takanuva could not use the Kanohi Nuva, because he is not a Nuva.
- 9You said the Toa Nuva's Suvas (rhyme...) aren't coming with them to Metru Nui. So... will they still switch Kanohi Nuva back to their Suvas? It seems like they might get out of range, perhaps, or worse, since the Suvas won't be guarded, if they send them to the Suva, some bad guy on Mata Nui (maybe just a mischevious Rahi, even) might steal them.
10They are going to have to bring the masks with them. It's too dangerous to leave them up above, especially if the Bohrok get loose again.
- 11On the subject of Suvas, the Toa Metru never had Suvas (or did they later... you probably couldn't tell me if they did), and now Takanuva doesn't. So, are Suvas special add-ons, would you say, or more like an essential part of being a Toa that just isn't always set up right away?
12They never had six suva, as far as I know, but there is a Toa Suva in the Great Temple. So if they had had need (which they really didn't) they could have used that.
- 13Can Matoran on Metru Nui make a new Suva for a new Toa? Or are they more mysterious than that?
14Good question. I will say yes, because I do not believe the Mata Nui suva existed until the Matoran built the koro.
- 15I asked you a while ago if it's possible that level 6 Matoran level masks have a tiny once of power left in them, you said it may be possible, but not enough to notice, and a Matoran wouldn't be able to use it. Well, do you think perhaps a Turaga or even a Toa might be able to get a tiny amount of power out of it? Like, say, levitation, get enough to levitate a few inches or something. (Yes, this is pretty much a useless speculation question; don't expect you to know.)
16This would be the equivalent of grabbing a car that is below "E" and way past running on fumes. What the Toa would get out of it would not even be worth the effort of concentration to call on the power.
18See answers above, 19Greg
20Yeah, I know, useless last question, but hey. I was curious. ) That topic, BTW, is closed now, so I can't post 'em there. (I also happened to answer it too well. )) These answers back up why it was closed, if anyone's curious.

2Hey hey Greg....watched two of the Vahki animations last night(Bordakh and Nuurahk's), and I've seen plenty of emphasis put on Vahki's "No play while work" theme....but what if a Matoran works on a personal project, during playtime? Would it just get so confused, it'll request a day off to process? (okay...that last part was a joke, but I'm curious as to what they'd do?) 31) What a Matoran does during personal time, as long as it is not illegal, would probably not interest a Vahki.
4Also, seeing as how strict the Vahki are, if and whenever the Toa Nuva, and Matoran return to Metru Nui, would the Vahki be placed back into commision? (maybe not as work supervisors, but as something else?) 52) I tend to doubt it, but you never know what we might have planned for them.
6The other thing I was wondering, if you ever watched Transformers: Beast Wars, or even Pirates of Dark Water(Obscure reference, I'd imagine), it kind of came up with it's own style of dialoge to get around not cursing in a "kid's show"(Beast Wars having Slag for just about every curse, Inferno/The Pit for the hot place...and Pirates of Dark Water having many that I can't quite spell.) 7I suppose Kolhiihead, might be a sort of Matoran term for a "jock". Might there be any for Crud, Darn and so on? (only the tame words, though
8I hope the last question doesn't seem out of bounds, but it's something I've been wondering for a month or so now. (question edited due to "cool dude" censor. ) 93) Oh, sure -- for example, "Mata Nui:" is an oft-used exclamation of shock or anger in Metru Nui.
10Sorry Greg, I just thought of these questions after reading the Ask Greg discussion, and realized I had sent off my previous questions.
11If a Matoran under a Vahki's power, turns in another Matoran...if like in the sense of them being friends, would that Matoran that was turned in, forgive their friend, or would it likely break up that friendship? 121) I think they would probably be forgiving, because if a Vahki is involved you really have no choice in what you do.
13And then, Israeli Toa asked if the Matoran in the Bordahk movie, if they were part of the underground or plotting a coup...you replied Neither, they were smugglers. wouldn't being smugglers make them part of a Matoran underground society? 14Also, how could a Matoran underground society exist with Vahki around, anyways? 152) There is a difference between an underworld and an underground. Underground implies they are revolutionaries of some sort. These guys were just crooks.
16There ya go: got a few more questions for Greg, but I figure three PMs in one day might be enough. (the two questions, and a thanks for clearing up the underworld/underground confusion for me.) So those'll come later.

1[QUOTE[QUOTE 1. In the Bordakh movie, normal Ga-Matoran have yellow eyes, whereas those under the effect of Bordakh have white ones. Is this close to the way it really is, that there is some physical way of discerning Vahki victims from ordinary Matoran? 2Far as I know, no. That was artistic license.
32. Could a Rorzakh use its staff on multiple targets, then cycle between them? 4No.
53. "Metru subdivision?" What does that mean? 6It means that that Vahki group is a subdivision of the Vahki as a whole, assigned to that particular metru.
74. "(Name of Vahki) Central Task Force Hive." Does this mean that Vahki have a main hive that relays Dume's orders to various other hives in the metru? Or something like that? 8The Vahki have one main hive in each metru, that is what it refers to. But you are mistaken in thinking that Dume somehow gives "orders of the day" -- he rarely worries about the day to day activities of the Vahki, unless there is a real emergency.
95. About how many Vahki hives are there per metru? 10Dozens.
116. When can you start talking about the Vahki Kaita? 12The info is going to be in the July mag and probably on BIONICLE.com before then. [/QUOTE] 13My latest set of questions. On #4, he misunderstood me about the orders thing.

1two pms, but not much questions:
2NO.1
31.why did the kanoka just pop out in Vorzakhs jaws in the Vorzakh movie?
4It was summoned, the same way the Toa can summon masks rather than having to carry around with them all the time.
52.in the Rorzakh movie, it says that turaga Dumes eyes can see anything, how?
6Nivawk. Nivawk can see things from high above ane then go back and report them to Dume.
73.china is translating bionicle so strange, I meen, they said ehrye has a disk that can make a being intelligint?: the krahwa protect metru-nui: have any idea why?
8No idea.
94.you said the vahki that you don't want to meet is the Bordakh, then witch is the one you don't want to meet the less?
10I don't really have one.
115.do Lego have plans to rebuild the toa nuva in the future to make them cooler, or just rerelease them?
12I don't know of any plans to do either.
13that's all
14NO.2 151. why is there a mata-nui matoran head statue in po-metru???
162. the matoran look very scared when they see the vahki come in the movies?:
171) Artistic license.
182) Well, a lot of people get scared when they see a police officer coming their way, even if they haven't done anything wrong.

1I asked Greg a question, he answered it wrong, so I made it simply, and Greg answered it correctly. Here we go.
2QUOTE 3QUOTE 4QUOTE 5Hey Greg, I was just reading comic 18.
6In the Vahki bios page, On the left panel it says, "Strange beings pretending to be TOA METRU." Are the Dark Hunters pretending that they are Toa Metru to confuse Dume? (You probably can't answer it because it'll somehow be movie plot.)
7No -- Dume doesn't believe the Toa Metru are really Toa, for reasons revealed in the movie.
8Greg
9Thankyou for answering that, informative, but you interpreted my question incorrectly. I was asking if the Dark Hunters told Dume that they (I'm using they for a pronoun of Dark Hunters) 10were Toa Metru, so Dume would think the Dark Hunters were the Toa Metru.
11Ah, no they did not. They would never have been able to pull that off anyway. Toa wear Masks of Power, Nidhiki and Krekka do not.

1Mr. Farshtey, 2I have a question.Up until now, it's been said by most people that the Vahki are mechanical, yet in the new Kanoka Club flash episodes, the Vahki are clearly breathing (it's especially shown in Keerahk's episode, when his breath actually mists).Do you think you could explain this?
3Thanks, 4Alex 5---------- 6Yup. Far as I know, the only one that actually shows the Vahki "breathing" is the Keerakh one, but you have a point. Why are they breathing? Answer is they are not. They are expelling steam to prevent heat build-up generated by the actions of their internal mechanisms.

1Hey Greg, I look forward to comming to the comic book signing in CT: Cuz i live there.....
21.If bionicle ever for some reason got cancelled. Would you be able to answer everything you knew about the future stoyline. Because I'd die if i never figured out certain things.
32.Another thing about cancellation thingys. If they take the line that will have us talking for months in the movie out, will you still tell us it?
43.Can you give me the suttleest(sp?) hint about what we will learn about the bohrok this year?
54.Is the reason Makuta wipes the Matoran's memory known to us. We just dont know that thats why? that makes no sense.
6Say the reason he wipes their memory is because they wont worship him. We know they wont, but we dont know thats the reason why.
7Know what Im saying?
85.Its been mentioned that the matoran think of Makuta in a positive way.(I heard that somewhere) Is the reason they did it because the Turaga didn't want them to remember? Like why they never told them?
9Thanks if you get around to answering these: Seeya at the signing:
101) Possibly. But it is also possible that if BIONICLE got cancelled, I would be out of a job, so ....
112) I don't think they will take it out, and it is already in the movie novelization, so it will be known.
123) Not much of anything.
134) Yes, basically you do know. Makuta did not want the Matoran to return to Metru Nui, because that would lead to waking up Mata Nui. So he wiped their memories so they would not even know the city was there.
145) No. The Matoran thought of Makuta in a positive way when they lived on Metru Nui, not on Mata Nui.

1This may put some minds at ease:
7So at least we don't have to wait all summer for all the sets at once. Still, though, now I'm intirgued; what's this new mask gonna be? Vahi, perhaps? Does the fifth enemy wear a mask?
2Sorry, I know you really don't like getting 1-question PMs, but I gotta know.
3You told me there were two ways your heard suggested that a Lhikan might be released; can you tell me any of those ways?If not, I just want to ask this: is there going to be an Ultimate Dume kit promo (like the TRU Takutanuva last year) later, with any chance of including Lhikan?I'd hate to buy the summer sets and find out that I need to get them again for Lhikan.
4Thanks for your time.
5If Lhikan is released, it will be paired with a completely new set. The question right now is what the new set will be. There is going to be a special Ultimate Dume set at TRU, but it is not going to include Lhikan in it. It will just be the three big sets and a new mask piece.
6Greg

8Wow: I didn't see that coming. This sounds an awful lot like the Takutanuva promo... if so, Ultimate Dume is likely to have a place in the storyline. The Fifth Enemy? I think so...

1Well, we saw in the trailer that the prototype Vahi Vakama was making was orange, even as it was being formed, so that's reason to think they'll do that with the actual one, too. Maybe more goldenish orange; I dunno, but not gray. That's what I thought when he told me that; he was just clarifying that he hadn't actually seen that part, so couldn't assume.
2And for my theory as to why it's orange, see my last post.
2And for my theory as to why it's orange, see my last post.
1Ok... this is interesting. Maybe the Vahi was grey in the movie... O.o
2Aparently, the Vahi looks more golden in the film. Which leads us to asking (once more): "why is the Vahi orange?"
3QB
4Greg has already told us that when they did the promo for the origianl Mask of Time, they wanted to make it a color that no other Toa had yet worn. Orange was the obvious choice.

1I didn't really get any new info from my last questions to Greg, but i'll post them anyway.
10Hafu
2Hi Greg, only a few questions.
31) In MNOLG Nokama said this to Takua: "Maybe Papu and Rangi have greater plans for you." It sounded like Papu and Rangi were Great Beings, but they have not been mentioned anywhere else. Do you know who they actually are?
4I have no info on them. If 2001 BIONICLE is any pattern, those are probably names we are not allowed to use anymore or something.
52) I've heard some people say that Lhii invented Ignalu (I know he couldn't have, because he didn't exist as Lhii). Was it ever told that he did?
6Not to me, it wasn't, no.
7I know you maybe can't answer these because you didn't work on the MNOLG, but I'll try anyway.
8Thanks in advance

1Here's my latest:
21.) Can the Great Komau only control creatures with "brains"? What I'm asking is, would Onewa be able to control a Rahkshi? Or the Kraata inside? 31) He could try. But a kraata is like a slice of Makuta, so my guess is it would be too hard to control. 42.) Thoeretically, would a rahkshi with the power of Plant Control be able to control the Morbuzahk? 52) No, and for the opposite reason. Plant control is physical control -- but the Morbuzakh has a mind, unlike most plants, and would resist. 63.) Is Makuta Mata Nui's biological brother? Or is it like the explanation you gave about being called brothers because of working together? 73) There are no biological relationships in BIONICLE, because there is no biological reproduction. 84.) The Great Rau can translate speech, right? So can the wearer understand the ultrasonic sounds the Vahki use to communicate, or does the wearer have to be able to hear the speech well? 94) Yes, you would have to be able to hear or read what you were trying to translate. If you could read Japanese fluently .. and I gave you a page in Japanese written in invisible ink ... you wouldn't be able to translate it. Same situation. 105.)11Do you know of any vehicles to be released to fit Matoran? Such as the bike thing in the B2 trailer Matau rides in a chute (at least I think its a chute)? 126) Actually, there may be news on that very soon. I am just waiting for permission to make an announcement.
13Can you tell us anything about this yet? 145) No, not yet. I did talk to some people about it yesterday, and I think something will be coming out this year, but there is a debate over just what would be the best thing.
1I got a few more Q's and A's with me:
2[QUOTE Hiya: How are you doing?
31. Can you reveal what the movie mask that comes with the Krekka, Nidhiki, and Turaga Dume pack? If so, what is it?
4No, I can't.
52. When will the three pack come out?
6October, I think.
73. Does the fifth enemy wear a mask?
8Can't discuss fifth enemy at all.
94. Uh... I forgot where the big toothy monster comes into view? When will (or did) we see him under the Great Temple?
10He appeared in Trial By Fire, and he appears very briefly in the movie.
115. Have we seen the creator of the Morby before?
12Can't answer it.
136. The Morby WAS created by a normal, coherent, being, correct? (He wasn't mad, was he?)
14Can't answer it.
157. Will we discover why the Toa Metru are sailing BACK to Metru-Nui in the movie, or the books?
16Movie and books.
178. Can you say whether the fifth enemy is a set or a combiner, plain and simple? If so, what then?
18I can't discuss fifth enemy at all.
199. Could Vakama outrun a Vahki with his jetpack?
20He could certainly give the Vahki a run for his money.
2110. Why doesn't Matau flirt with Nokama anymore? Has he gotten wiser? Or is she too wrinkly for him now?

- 1Do Krana need to breathe? Came up in this topic: If You Can Trap A Krana, Why Not.... The Matoran threw some into a hole in an update on bionicle.com (the BS01 version is linked to in one of my posts), and had a Bohrok put a big stone over it. Ethanjohnson thought that meant they were being suffocated, while Denarr pointed out that there were probably gaps for air. Anyways, the question still stands, do they breathe?
- 2Also from that topic, can they move around? By wriggling? In that movie that showed some wriggling, and slipping downwards on the pile after thrown into that hole. It wasn't clear if they were just slipping, or if they were moving around of their own power.
4Yes, they are able to move on their own. No, they do not need to breathe -- if they did, the ones in the water Bohrok would have had a pretty big problem on their hands.
5Greg
6BTW, Zokara, on the orange thing; the question is not why the Vahi is orange, but why it remains orange, unlike most other masks, which change color when worn and turn protodermic gray when taken off. The question is, what is the storyline reason they wanted to pick another color in the first place? (The Avhokii and Kraahkhan apparently don't change color either.) As was discussed in detail in this topic: Why Is The Vahi Orange? .
1heres mine with him
2Mr. Greg, 3I have a question about the turaga, can they somehow change as the toa do to turaga and how do they if they can? 4Also how come in the new book with Nokama on it says that there is a new chronicler in the begginging?
5Sincerly, 6AgentA
7PS Is there ever going to be another way to join the Proto Squad? 8Thanks
9Also no need to rush to reply, just whenever easy for you.
10Thanks again:
111) Your first question confused me. Why would Turaga need to change to Turaga? Were you maybe asking about the Toa Nuva?
122) There is a new Chronicler on Mata Nui. Takua had been the Chronicler, but now that he is the Toa of Light, he can't be anymore. In Mask of Light, Hahli offers to be his Chronicler. So she is the new Chronicler on Mata Nui.
133) Not sure.
14Greg
15Thanks for answering them and on the first one I am saying since a matoran can become a toa can a turaga become somthing else such as the Toa Nuva like you said? 16Thanks
17Also I just remembered this, what happened to the name of Tohunga? They are now called Matoran if i'm right. Did the name change or are they different things? 18Thank you for responding so quick:
19AgentA
201) No, so far as we know Turaga is the end of the line. They can't turn into anything beyond that.
212) They are the same thing. Tohunga is a Maori word meaning priest, so we agreed to change it to something else and not use Tohunga anymore. Technically, they should still be called Tohunga on Metru Nui, but to avoid confusion, we decided to stick with Matoran.
22Greg
231]OK thats what I thought 242]Okay. That makes sence but what is Maori? I have never heard of it. Also is toa somthing simlilare? 25Thanks again and sorry to bug you more.
26The Maori are the native civilization of New Zealand. Certain Maori words were used for BIONICLE in 2001, and as a result, LEGO agreed that where possible we would change the spelling of the words. That is why some Matoran names have changed in recent years.
27Greg
1Mostly just a clear-up on definitions and the Matoran language. Some other questions too, though.
21. Does "Matoran" refer only to the former "Tohunga," or to any Bionicle character? I know that "Koronan" means villager ("Tohunga"), But would Lewa Nuva be considered a Le-Matoran, if not a Koronan? If "Matoran" does refer to any character, then what would be the term for just the "Tohunga"?
3Matoran took the place of Tohunga and refers only to the villagers.
42. Is "Bionicle" an appropriate term for "character"? In The Darkness Below, the instuctional pictures for Krahka say something along the lines of "build an exclusive Bionicle:" So is this authentic Matoran grammar?
5No, it's not -- it was written by Scholastic people, not LEGO people.
63. Any chance of more Matoran punctuation? So far all we have are periods, which are bullet-point things. Question marks, commas, hyphens (especially, because of Onu-Koro and the like), etc. would be nice to see sometime.
7Not that I know of.
84. Have you found out the secondary tool modes for Onewa and Nokama, if any?
9No, have not heard anything. I don't think secondary modes were a big product design priority this year.
105. What was that big Rahi in The Darkness Below? Anything we've seen before / will see in the future?
11Not something you have seen before, yes something you will see this year in the comic.
12- - - - - - -
13Aww - if it's in the comic, chances are it'll appear organic. Or maybe it's a "sneak peek" at the Rahi entry. In the November comic they could say something along the lines of "Oh, that's the creature we saw. . ."
14I doubt it, but it's possible.

1Here are some questions I sent to Greg
2QUOTE 3Hey Greg I have some questions,
4Will Ultimate Dume be in the Bionicle Movie?
5Will Likan Have his own set or will he come with a other set?
6Will the 5th enamy be a set? If so when will it come out?
7What will be the special mask that come with the TRU Prmo be?
81) Yes 92) No final decision has been made on this yet 103-4) Can't answer these.
11Greg
12Well there you have it:

1Hi Greg. I have some guestions for you.
21. How often does Vakama get his visions?
32. Does he still get them?
43. If the Toa Nuva turned into turaga, would they look diferent from Vakama, Nokama, etc?
54. Does Krahka have to see the item in person to transform? 6Or can she see a picture and transform.
75. If Lehrak Poisones a Plant, will the remove poison cure it?
8Thanks a ton Greg. BTW, the Bionicle Adventures books and comics are awsome:
91-2) Infrequently, and when they will strike is unpredictable, but yes, he does still get them.
103) Probably.
114) I would say she does have to see it in person, since there is no photograph in BIONICLE and her only other option would be carvings.
125) I would say yes, because a plant is organic and could thus be affected by the disk.

1Here's a PM I sent, which is kind of pointless, but I'm sure you've all wondered.
5What bothers me is, the only reason Takanuva is so strong is because he has all those wierd powers that make a mockery of physics. I mean, freezing things in a pillar of light? I didn't think that was possible. So maybe in Bionicle the light isn't made of photons. If matter is all one substance with an infinity of forms, maybe energy works differently as well. It makes you think. Will Takanuva use all his powers in the storyline?
2If Takanuva controls light, could he possibly make holograms? It seems to me that would be more useful in battle than blinding his enemies. You've already told us his powers, but I'm just curious.
3I am going to say no, based simply on the fact that there are a lot of light-based superheroes and outside of Green Lantern, I can't think of any who can do that. Toa are already so powerful that I don't like giving them unfair advantages.

6Read Wacky Physics.
7See, Takanuva can do those things because he is the Toa of light. I go into quite a bit of detail on Toa power in general; it certainly makes materials (and light) seem to defy physics. But normally, we can't tell photons where to go just by thinking it, can we? He can. And it doesn't defy physics. Read WP, seriously. At least the sections on Laws of Nature, Toa Power, and the Avhokii, since that's an issue here.
8Actually, "freezing things in a column of light" is exactly what most forcefields in science fiction are. Other on-photonic energy controls the photons, and holds them in place, or within certain routes. Now, photons have a pushing power; this has been demonstrated. That's why solar sails would work. Forcefields (the photonic kind) are speculated to be able to use this pushing power to form a wall, or.... a column of light that "freezes" whatever's in it.
9It isn't making a mockery of physics, it's using Bionicle Physics. Which are Wacky. And all that can be explained within our physics. Read WP. )
1I have a few more questions
2What is the order of strength for every Toa? 3Is it Toa Olda, Toa Metru, Takanuva, Toa Lhikan, Toa Nuva, with Toa Olda being the weakest and Toa Nuva the strongest, or is it another order?
4Takanuva is at the same power level as a Toa Olda. Toa Metru are also at the same power level as a Toa Olda. So is Lhikan. Only the Nuva are of greater power, because they are Nuva.
5I heard there were going to be a lot of enemies this year, but how many for sure? 6So far Morbuzakh, Krahka, Dark Hunters, there are two more right?
7I am counting five, not counting Krahka because she was created just for the books -- Morbuzakh, Vahki, Krekka, Nidhiki, and the fifth enemy in the movie.
8How are the Dark Hunters able to move around Metru-Nui without being seen, because thier sets are really big compared to Matoran and Vahki.
9Who says they do?
10Last time I asked you what Turaga Dume's powers are, and you said regeneration with his mask, and limited elemental powers, what are the elemental powers that he can control?
11Fire.
12Does Toa Lhikan have powers over Teleportation or Shielding with his mask?
13Shielding. It's a Hau.
14Thats all for now, thanks in advanced.
