2Got some kewl stuff.
3Hey Greg, got a few questions for you.
41) In an answer you gave you said that the Toa Olda were more experienced than the Toa Metru, and that's how they could use their Mask powers. Yet the Olda have no memory when they awake, so how can they remember training. And who trained them?
52) The new Female Villian sounds pretty interesting. Considering she's throughout 2005, she's probably in leagues with the main baddie right? Though it'd be kewl if we got a spin on things, and she was the Core Villian.
63) Do you know when the Toa Hordika will be released?
74) From what you've written so far, which Toa Hordika is your fave?
85) What will the new collectible be for 2005? And if you can't tell us yet, when will it be known?
9Thanks for answering Greg.

101) Who trained them I cannot answer. As for the rest, while their memories were impaired, none of the Toa had any trouble using their powers when they first came to the island or knowing how their masks worked, etc. So it was obviously only partial amnesia brought on by 1000 years in a canister.
112) Actually, she is the core villain. And she is a heck of a great character -- really fun to write for. Makes the Bahrag look like a pair of French poodles.
123) In the US, should be in stores late December, I think.
134) Hmmmm. I would have to lean toward Nuju, partly cause I like him, partly because I like his Rahaga the best and they have been fun to write for.
145) Rhotuka spinners. We are not really marketing them so much as collectables, though, as we are replacements for ones you might lose (since they can fly 30, 40 feet if launched right). They will have Kanoka club codes and they will have powers, though.
15Greg
16---------------------------------
17So the female is the Core Villian:::::::: Awesome: I didn't know that. Or know if it's been confirmed or not. But sweet news. And 1 was interesting. He can't say who trained the Olda, I've got a feeling that's future story.
18I'm hoping we learn more about the Olda's backstory down the road. I think there's more going on there. And the Hordika will be out in late December:::::::: Rock on::::::::::: And Nuju's his fave Hordika. Kinda figured it'd be Onewa, since that was his fave Metru.

1Interesting a 1000 years in a canister??? now that is very interesting.. is that GregF drop a slight hint as to the Toa Olda Origins? Interesting.

2MNO- Well, I didn't notice that... Could've the Toa been a disaster, too? Were they like heckchild, supposedly evil but trained by the good guys?
3Edit: No idea why it spelled heckchild... I meant the comics character, by Mike Mignola... There was a movie about him not too long ago...

11A new female villain...she's the core villain...and why does everyone seem to 12think she is Makuta's sister? Woudln't that be kinda wierd, I mean, just after 13putting his brother we just happen to meet a third person in the family? 14I somehow doubt that it would happen...

3Hi Greg, I have a single question:
4Are the Visorak Makuta's 'brothers'?
5Thanks for your time.

8Well, that's my theory proved wrong, there is one other possibility...

1well GregF said that the Visorak didn't come to Metru Nui until after the Matroans were put to sleep and after the earthquake destroyed the city. So I don't think they are related to Makuta.. They are just Rahi from a distant place but they are Rahi with serious Intelligence. It is on this page towards the top or middle or was it towards the bottom i can't remember.

3Hello Peeps:
4I am trying to catch up with all you on the storyline, so thank you for all the shared info. My shaky grasp is a little less shaky, but I have a way to go yet: You guys never cease to amaze me:::
5Just a little snippet for the UK. I have it on the best authority that Lhikan has a release date of November 1st '04 at Hamley's in London, so it may have a more general release date a little after that. I believe Hamley's has the exclusive on the initial release. RRP GB£19.99
6Hope this helps a little.

1Hooo boy: The very specific and slightly stupid questions that fan-ficcers ask: O, how they ask weird and kooky questions that you never even considered: And do forgive me if some of these are answered in the Metru Nui City Guide. I haven't had the pleasure of reading it yet (though I intend to get it as soon as I can) so bear with me please. I'm on a roll. I have read the LoMN book, so spoiler away. (Though none of these questions have anything to do with that, but if it does come up, go right ahead.)
21). How would a Matoran on Metru Nui go about starting a business (such as a restaurant [we're assuming here that Matoran eat, because otherwise my plot would be ruined) and how would they getting it approved so that they wouldn't have the Vahki on their tails for leaving work?
32.) How would that hypothetical restaurant hire workers?
43.) How do unemployed (or newly created) Matoran get work?
54.) Is there a Metru Nui Ministry of Commerce?
65.) If a Matoran really hated her job, and wanted a different one, (obviously a legal one that still benefits Metru Nui) could she apply for a new one?
76.) Does Metru Nui have seasons? Weather?
87.) Does Metru Nui (Ga-Metru?) have colleges? Are there any occupations that require a college degree?
98.) Is there a news media? How regulated is it? (I'm kind of assuming that they aren't very advanced in the area of Freedom of the Press.)
109.) You once said that there are only girls in Ga-X, and no girls anywhere else. Is there a good in-story reason for this, or was it a marketing choice? If I completely ignore it, would I be breaking anything really important that you have planned?
1110.) How accurate are the Ko-Metru prophets at predicting the future, on average? Why didn't they see this whole mess coming?
1212.) After the Turaga tell about what happened on Metru Nui, they won't have any more Big Important Secrets They Forgot To Tell You Because They Didn't Think You Needed To Know. Right?
1313.) Was Jala (Huki, Maku, etc) called Jaller (Hewki, Macku, etc) on Metru Nui? Is that why their names were changed to something that sounded exactly the same, only had weirder spelling?
1414.) Would a Matoran from say, Ta-Metru be able to work in say, Le-Metru if he had a really good reason for it?
1515.) Okay, now that Makuta's back, (back?) what are the Rahkshi on Metru Nui going to do? Or are they kinda unable to find their way out of the Archives?
1616.) This might've been asked to the point of insanity, because it wasn't made very clear, but in MoL, exactly how did they get in there, and exactly what did they see and exactly how did this all fit in with the Turaga saying "Pack your bags boys: We're headed to the City of Legends:"?
1717.) Will we see some romance between Nokama and Vakama? Nuju? Matau? (HA: In his dreams:)
1818.) How much time is there between the Matoran arriving on Mata Nui and when Makuta does his Spell of Shadows thingamabob? Between Makuta coming and the Toa landing? Between the Toa landing and Makuta's first defeat? Between the Bohrok awakening and the Bahrag's defeat? Between the Bahrag's defeat and the Kal's defeat? Between the Kal's defeat and the Mask of Light?
19Thank you for being patient: Thank you: Good bye: Live long and prosper: Carpe diem: Go n-aora na gráinneoga cealgrúnacha do chuid infheistíochtaí: Or something. 20And to answer your question, no, I am not getting treatment for this. It's kinda one of the hazards of being a geeky weirdo who spends too much online, and has a really stupid and rediculous sense of humor.

21First off, I love your screen name
221) Most of the Matoran we have seen who do have their own businesses start them out by doing them "on the side" and in addition to their regular job. That way, the Vahki don't bother them. If the business is successful, then their day job supervisor can be persuaded they are performing a vital service for the city and grant permission for them to do their business full-time. The supervisor then notifies the Vahki.
232) Again, if you can prove your business is providing a vital service of some sort, then you can secure permission to get Matoran transferred to you.
243) There really are no unemployed Matoran, because they only come into being if there is work for them to do.
254) Not right now. There may have been once, before trade with the environs was cut off.
265) Yes
276) Metru Nui does have weather, but it does not have winter, spring, etc.
287) They have schools, not colleges per se. But becoming a teacher or a protodermis purifier definitely requires formal education
298) There are sort of "jumbo trons" in the city, but the only being we have seen use them is Dume. There are no newspapers, etc.
309) That is how BIONICLE has been from the beginning. Only Ga-Matoran are female, none of the other metru have female Matoran. If you choose to go in another direction, that's up to you, but you really aren't writing about the BIONICLE universe then, you are doing your own.
3110) They do the best they can. The problem with signs and portents is that it's all up to the viewer's interpretation.
3212) Not sure. We'll have to see. Maybe Dume has some
3313) The reason the "new" names are in use in Metru Nui is because we are not legally allowed to use the old names. That's all. So we have to take some artistic license. Same reason Matoran on Metru Nui are called Matoran and not Tohunga.
3414) Matoran from other metru do work in Ga-Metru, to free up Ga-Matoran to study. Other than that, we have never seen much in the way of "commuting," but I wouldn't say it is absolutely impossible.
3515) Nothing, unless he has some use for them. If he doesn't, they will keep on with what they are doing.
3616) I don't understand your question. Can you be more specific? How did they get in where?
3717) Odds are not in anything I write. I really don't have a lot of room for romance in the stuff I do. That was all on the web, courtesy of the web producer.
3818) A thousand years goes by between when the Matoran first arrive on Mata Nui and when the Toa (Tahu, etc.) arrive. Makuta was basically a factor from day one of their getting there. Rest of it I really don't nail down times for, because that is the sort of thing that winds up getting contradicted later.

1Got some good stuff for the science lovers, although Greg's answer wasn't as in-depth as I wanted.
2Well, I was soaking in the bathtub, and my mind wondered to BIONICLE. My thoughts got a bit scientific, and I got a few questions.
3My understanding of the Toa's elemental powers is that they have complete and unadultered control over their element. I would assume that includes the tempature (or the speed rate of vibration of molecules) of the bit of matter they are currently using and thethat make up their element, and that brings up some questions.
4Tahu, as I see it, controls not only fire but heat. Heat is the the speed that molecules are vibrating within matter, so if Tahu controls heat, he controls the vibrations of the molecules within objects and by increasing their speed he heats them up. If so, there is a possibility for Tahu to freeze an object by removing the heat from it (or slowing down the molecules to where they are at a standstill), bringing it to absolute zero. The same possibility could occur with Kopaka and Gali. Kopaka freezes objects by slowing down the vibration of the atoms in matter, so conceivably he would be able to move the molecules at a level level of speed that the object heats up, possibly bursting into flame. Gali, by controling the vibration of water molecules could freeze or boil water, as well.
5Unless they are limited by a certain level they cannot go above or below.Tahu cannot freeze an object because he cannot control the vibrations of matter below a certain tempature, perhaps just above freezing point, and Kopaka cannot go above a certain tempature for the same reason. Even if so, Gali could still freeze water. If Gali can freeze water, she can melt ice in adition. If so she controls Kopaka's element.
6On a simular note, Lewa could ignite things with his control of air. By using the same principle mentioned above he could heat items by speeding up the molecule's rate of vibration and increasing the oxygen content of the air in an area to ignite an explosion of fire. Onua and Pohatu could generate magma, or burn things by heating the ground beneath them.
7I'm not saying this is all they're elemental power can do, but possibly expansions on what we have been letting them use. It's common knowledge Kopaka can generate ice or Onua shape earth, but that control lends to these possible other ideas.
8~Huta

9The Kopaka-Gali aspect is something I frankly had not thought of, but you are dead on about Tahu. In fact, he uses just that ability in BA #7 (I figure if the Human Torch can do it, so can he :)
10Greg

11Wonder why he didn't reply to the Onua-Pohatu-Lewa idea?
12And he meant Vakama in BA7, not Tahu. Tahu doesn't show up 'til at least '06.
13~Huta
#2296
1That's an interesting idea, Huta. Along the same lines, I had wondered if it would be possible for Onua and Lewa to create lightning, which is a reaction between electrical charges in the ground and in the air. If Onua and Lewa could manipulate their elements on a molecular level as you proposed, it would be possible.
#2297
1Hi Greg, tis myself
23) Do you know when the Toa Hordika will be released?
33) In the US, should be in stores late December, I think.

41. I thought the Rahaga were being released in December, with the bigger sets coming later?
51) The Rahaga are out in December, and the Hordika release got moved up to late Dec., early Jan. in the US.
62. If Visorak venom causes more mutation the longer you are infected with it, does that mean the Toa Hordika are going to get worse as the year goes on?
72) They certainly could. If you don't cleanse the venom out of your system in a given time, you become all Rahi.
83. Matoran creation, they are made when they are needed, but how are they made? Are they assembled in factories, or is it some kind of strange energized protodermis or something?
93) On instructions from the head of the story team, I am not allowed to discuss how Matoran come into being. He feels that if everything is known about the universe, BIONICLE loses its mystique.
104. Just how dark is next year going to get?
114) Pretty dark.
12All my poor brain can churn out for now, enjoy. Thanks in advance

1That's an interesting idea, Huta. If Onua and Lewa could manipulate their elements on a molecular level as you proposed, it would be possible.

2Thanks: Your idea is pretty good too, although I haven't studied electrical currents to great detail, it sounds like it would work. By controling the amount of electrons and protons in an area they could manipulate electricty. Come to think about it, that would even work for Pohatu and Gali, possibly Kopaka, or at least Gali and Kopaka could use thier element as a conductor to aid Onua and Lewa. Great theory.
3Whoa, another thing popped into my mind. Tahu and Kopaka both control the vibration of the molecules within any form of matter, giving them the ability to freeze or burn anything. This is in contrast with the limited abilities of, say Pohatu, in which their molecular control is limited to only one type of matter. However, if Tahu and Kopaka have that type of control, shouldn't they be able to shapeshift other objects? It's a small leap from controlling vibration speed to actually rearranging the atoms in new shapes. (Ok, not exactly a small leap, but it's still plausable.) Thus Tahu can shapeshift himself or other things in an area. It would be too powerful, of course, but to give him complete control over temperature would possibly include this.

1QUOTE 2Hi Greg. 3First I want to comment on B2. I must say that I just absoloutley love it. What you guys have done is amzing. The way that it just doesn`t stop and the thing that grips me espeicially is the music, the MOL dubs in particualer. I just can`t get enough of that two-second bit at the begginng and also the Kikanalo chase piece is great. And the first bit is so cool: it`s like multipul action sequences all at once: 4Anyway *phew*, questions:
5Look at the B2 scene in the forge. There is a tiny creature carrying things. It isn`t a Rahi and it looks almost like a mini-Bohrok. What the heck is it?
6When Tahu wore the Vahi, did it go over his Hau Nuva in a style like Vakama?
7I have this thing about Matoran; What mask does Mavrah wear? And what colours are he?
8If Macku wears a Huna, what mask did Metruan Vakama wear? And if Hafue a Ruru, what mask does Metruan Whenua wear? And so on.
9Just to confirm: Does Kongu officially wear a Ruru on Metru Nui? And does Jaller wear a red Komau? (See B2 to see what I mean).
10If Ko-Metru and Ga-Metru formulated the Kanoka, what were Kanohi made of before that?
11Now I get a lttle cheesed with the Vahki. Because if they wanna arrest someone how do they do it? For example I choose the scene near the end of B2, where the Vahki transport is heading for the great temple. So the Vahki were firing at them. So what? If the transport get hit by the presence power `oo scary`. I mean, in voyage of fear, if the Toa get hit by a Vahki stun, then what?
12Does Nidhiki wear a Kanohi? And why isn`t he called Ndhiki Hordika?
13How far does a Metruans memory go back to?
14Is Lhikan classed as a Toa Metru?
15There were 6 Toa stones I the B2 intro, so I assume Lhikan had 5 other companions?
16Was there a prototype trans. blue Great Huna ever made?
17I don`t like the resemblence between the Kiril and Huna, the Kiril looks almost looks like a possible Huna Nuva
18What is BA#9 called? And how many A books again are there gonna be?
19The Kinloka (Metruan combo) can shoot Kanoka because they learnt to. So does that mean that the end of the tail has a claw? Which is represented by a launcher in the modle?
20Anything else you can comment on or say or reveal? About anything?
21I think thats it. I saw the making of featureete. The Visorahk look absoloubtley wonderful. And the Hordika do look very hopeful, I will check those still pics later. I suppose there wil be Kanohi Hordika, and your not looking bad yourself. 22Thanks alot, 23Sam.

241) That's called a fire drone. They are like little servitor robots for Ta-Matoran.
252) Yes
263) Purple Pakari, and I don't have his body colors.
274) The Toa Metru wore the same masks they wore as Toa as Matoran.
285) I haven't seen B2 in weeks and don't have a copy yet, so I really can't answer this.
296) Before that, they had Kanohi but could not make them themselves.
307) The point of a Vahki is not to arrest someone and throw them in jail. It's to put them back to work. In VOF, when they hit Matau, he is turning the transport around and bringing it back to Metru Nui. They don't do imprisonment of Matoran -- that takes them out of the work force -- they stun them and put them back to work. I think, though, you will like the BA #7 version of the Vahki better, though.
318) No, he doesn't, and why would he call him that? The Visorak have nothing to do with how he looks.
329) A Metru Nui Matoran's memory would go way back.
3310) Yes, an "honorary one" since he is not from there originally.
3411) He may well have, but there is no guarantee the Metru Nui Toa stones had anything to do with them. Those Toa didn't come from Metru Nui, after all.
3512) Absolutely no idea. That stuff all gets done in Denmark.
3613) BA #9 doesn't have an official title yet, because the movie next year doesn't have an official title yet. There are four novels next year, BA #7-10.
3714) Isn't really something I have thought about.
38Greg

39Well, another bunch of petit questions. 40M-BoS
#2305
16)Why Toa Metru doesn't have any kaita?
26) Because they never learned how to make one. Don't forget, they became Toa with really no one train them, which is why it took half a year of story before they even figured out their mask powers. Heck, the Toa Olda only knew about kaita because of Nokama's dream.

31. They had to know? I thought it just sorta happened. They also weren't just kaita, they were separate beings Akamai and Wairuha. Wasn't it automatic (destiny) once they joined the Makoki stones at the Suva Kaita?
41) No. They knew about the kaita because Gali had a vision in which she learned they would one day join together.

52. BTW, whatever happened to the Makoki stones? Are they still around?
62) I believe those stones were really only covered in the card game and weren't communicated elsewhere, so I don't have info on them.
7and the insert for the powerpack CD
83. Is there any chance Akamai and Wairuha were ever separate beings? They talked to Gali when she got bonked on the head.
93) No. She was having a vision.
10I know that... <_< , but are they separate in the sense they have different minds, and they were sorta reaching out to her?
114. Are the Toa Olda just normal old toa? They were obviously somewhere else before they were sealed in the canisters. Might they have originally been beings more integral to the universe than just a powered-up matoran?
124) I don't believe personally that the Toa Olda ever were Matoran.
13possible spoiler, he didn't really answer the question
145. Speaking of that, why were they sealed in the canisters? To purposely erase their memories? Was it some sort of purification from evil thing? (thinks Megaman Zero)
155) No. I can't reveal why they were in the canisters, but it was not for purification purposes.

166. Sorta along that line, in LsOMN, the toa seem to notice that Makuta is different in that he's got the characteristic rusty scarred shadow look. Is "shadow" a kind of virus that infected him and could infect others? (possibly of his own free will or accidentally?)
176) No.

187. Is the female core villain first of all the figure here and on the left here ; and second, does she fall under the category of one of Makuta's "brothers"?
197) No, she is not a Makuta brother. We don't get to them for a while, because we are doing the Makuta thing to death lately.

208. Again in this pic , is that thing on the right with the stasis pods the so-called "largest bionicle set ever"? Is it the Lhikan?
218) No. That set is not pictured in the DVD

229. Do you know if this, this, and this are just experimental prototypes or are they going to be 2005 sets? (If that first one isn't, tell Lego at least one person wishes it were)
239) There are prototypes pictured on the DVD.
24again, he danced around the question
2510. Is shadow Makuta's basic element/power? Has it always been?
2610) Yes
27How does that fit with the quote from the BA LsoMN where they say he looks different because of the shadow-rust thing?

#2306
DragonMaster2050
110.Is shadow Makuta's basic element/power?Has it always been?
210) Yes
3How does that fit with the quote from the BA LsoMN where they say he looks different because of the shadow-rust thing?

4Have you ever read Lord of the Rings? Well, if you have, I think of it as being similar to the Balrogs. 5See, back in untold ages past, Sauron and the other Balrogs pretended to be friends of Middle Earth, and during this time they always looked pleasing to the eye. But when their treachery was discovered, they changed their shapes to better suit their new status as fully revealed lieutenants of Morgoth (i.e. Sauron changed into an eight foot armored colossus). 6Anyways, that's why I think Makuta looked so different; his plot had been revealed, so there was no reason to look like a guardian anymore. 7Follow me?
8-Master of the Rahkshi
#2307
1Bravo...Master of the Rahskhi I think that makes alot of sense. So basically in layman's terms you are saying Makuta served as a wolf in sheeps clothing for a long time.. and now that his plan and motives have been revealed he has become the full wolf he has always been.
2:m: :k: :j:
#2308
1heres some info might not be usefull but its weird:
2okay this stuff has to do with the fact of the "concealed bionicles" thing where the toa hordika do not have masks because they have no reason to hide there darkness anymore.
3#1a:what does this mean even?
4#1b:does this mean that a toa without a mask becomes evil?
5#2:what happens to the mask anyway?
6#3:if it does turn a toa evil when they have no mask could this be why nidhiki is evil or was he always evil?
7and for kinda non bionicle stuff:
8#4:would you even wanna voice any bionicle character?
9#5:if you were a bionicle what/who would you be?
10#6:i read info about you online so you wrote a book about the world war right?or was that info made up?
11#7:if you ever were to come neer washington state would you visit the bellevue lego store?
12now back on to bionicle stuff:
13#9:what would happen if you were to cross a rahkshi a bohrok a vahki a kralhi a bohroki-kal a toa-nuva/olda/metru/hordika rahi and makuta?i know that would be impossible but just a "what if" thing.
14#10:could anything be more powerfull then the great spirit mata-nui?
15#11:are there other great spirits?
16#12:who are these "brothers" of makuta i only know of mata-nui.
17#13:what were to happen if makuta merged with mata-nui?
18thats all for now.man its been a while since i last PMed you.

191) Basically, the beast within them has been unleashed, partly, by the Visorak venom. Nothing can be hidden anymore, in a symbolic sense.
20well i had no clue what could have happened to the masks.
212) No. A Toa minus his mask normally weakens. A Hordika is simply a Toa combined with a Rahi. Has less to do with "evil" than it has to do with unchecked bestial rage.
22that quote made me think they were evil by losing there mask...
233) No.
24okay wonder how then...
254) No, I don't have any acting skill so that would be pointless
26okay i shoulda expected that answer...
275) Kopaka
28kopaka wow i would wanna be nuju.
296) No, I did books on the American Revolution and the 1920s, I never did anything on the world wars.
30oh yah thats right... i could not remember exactly what the book was of. that was the one i was thinking of...
317) Depends on if they wanted me to come, I guess.
32okay i should have expected that answer too.
339) I don't answer "what if" questions, basically because there are no answers for them.
34should have expected that too.and that would be so cool to have an enemy like that.
3510) My belief is that there is always something more powerful, no matter what you are talking about
36again i should have expected the answer...
3711) Don't know
38cool that means makuta's other brothers might be spirits but then again only the future will tell.
3912) You only know of Mata Nui because we haven't gotten to the brothers in the story yet. Hang on.
40i wonder when they will come to the story but okay i will wait.
4113) I doubt that could ever happen.
42oh i guess it would not be possible...
43greg and SLOTSG

44and since he really did not answer any of the inportant things theres no spoiler warning...

1Got some here.
21) Did Lewa know treespeak when he first landed on Mata-Nui?
32) I heard this somewhere, so I just wanted to calrify. Were the Toa "Trained" by somebody/thing?
43) Is there a Visorak queen? (Don't mind if you aren't allowed to answer.)
54) any info on Book 9?
6Thanks in advance,
7-Xa

81) Possibly not 92) The original Toa? That has never been revealed. 103) Can't answer it 114) Book 9 is the movie novelization for next year.

1just a few quick questions:
2My questionsfor you.
31)At the end of LoMN, the Toa give their power to wake the Matoran, and become Turaga (confused yet?).Now, is it safe to say that between the time of the Toa leaving the tunnel and the very end transformation scene, is where the Visorahk/Hordika stuff is at?it just seemed way to quick for the Toa Metru to turn into Turaga.
42) is it also safe to assume that the whole Morzbuka(sp?) part of the story told in the comics would take place during the search for the Great Discs?
5I understand if you cant answer in detail, im just trying to fit the pieces together.Im sure youve answered these questions before, so i apologize for repeating what others have said. Thanks for your time::
6MrNobudy

71) Yes. By the time we decided we wanted to a do a second year in Metru Nui, the movie script was already done and locked. So the '05 storyline takes place before the end of the '04 movie, which I realize is ridiculously confusing.
82) Yes.

#2311
1Here they are, finally. I don't know how Greg puts up with all the annoying "spoiler" questions and server errors, but thank Mata Nui he manages. What a great guy.
2- - - -
31) BZPower member Rahi Zaku made the following interesting point:
4Kohrak-Kal's power is officially "Sonics"... not "High-frequency Sonics" or "Intense Sonics", just "Sonics". This implies that it can create any number of different sound waves. If this is so, it brings many interesting possibilities. Do you think that it is possible that Kohrak-Kal and the Rahkshi of Sonics could, for example, mimic a Toa's voice, or create a distracting sound effect (the sound of a volcano eruption, Rahi noises, etc.)?

5So, is there any definite limit on their powers?
6I based the sonic Rahkshi off of sound-based villains from the comics -- so subtle use of their powers like imitating voices, throwing their voice, that sort of thing, are beyond them. Creating creatures made of sound or sonic booms is more their speed. Rahkshi aren't known for subtlety. 7(Creatures made out of sound, eh? Sounds like fun.)
82) Also raised by Rahi Zaku - what can a power scream Rahkshi do that a Sonics can't?
9More the other way around -- sonic Rahkshi can make creatures out of sound, power scream Rahkshi cannot. 10(Which was my point. So Power Scream are weaker? I always liked to think of Rahkshi as equal, but different.)
113) user posted image Is the Kanoka of Time shown here what it officially looks like in the storyline, or was it "spiffed up" for promotional value? (I wrote this question a while ago, and since then I believe you said it was.)
12The mask image and code were added by us. 13(So it's not the official look.)
144) If that is what the disk looks like, how did it get "stamped" while Vakama was on the run? I had the theory he might have designed the mask in his head and used his fire power to burn the image onto the disk as a reference while sculpting. I know you said it was done to make it look good, but there should be some storyline explanation. . .
15See answer above 16(Aaaww. . . .)
175) Again, if that's what the disk looks like then why is it orange? What part of the process caused that? Are all merged disks colored? How is the color determined?
18It is orange as a tip of the cap to the original Vahi 19(So the real disk of time is not orange. This seems to be a promotional item with about as much storyline accuracy as the Comic-Con promo would have had.)
206) When asked how the disk of time worked, you replied:
21You would have to decide as you launched it whether you were looking to slow down time or speed up time around your target. Unlike most disks, its power would be tied to your will, the way a mask's power is, so it would only work as long as you could make it work.

22Might there be other disks that, although you don't need to will them to work, have their effect based on your thoughts? For example, a magnetism disk which might attract or repel things based on your thoughts.
23Sure 24(Yes: Pekel has a Magnetism disk as his basic one. . .)
257) There's a creature in Star Wars called a Sarlaac, which grows more intelligent as it ingests intelligent prey. So if it spent its life eating wild Bantha and Anooba, it would stay as unintelligent as those wild animals. But if it managed to get its tentacles on a human, it would aquire the sentience of that prey creature. Is this "psychic absorbtion" similar to what Krahka do, or are they all sentient naturally? It would explain how perfect mimicry was possible, and how she managed to learn the Matoran language so quickly. It would also explain why she got confused when being a mix of the Toa.
26All Krahka are sentient 27(Racist Matoran. Poor discriminated Rahi. Equal rights for the Krahka:)
288) About the Great Disks:
29The Matoran didn't make the first six to begin with.

30I'm not going ask you who made them because I'm not foolish, but do YOU know who made them?
31I have a theory, but no facts
329)
33As far as product goes, though, that is all market tested with kids in the age group both in the US and overseas before designs are finalized.

34How might one get into these groups? Would sacrificing a limb be enough, or would we need to do more?
35In most cases, these market test groups are recruited by professional agencies who do that sort of thing. LEGO tells them what age grade and what LEGO interests we are looking for, and then they take care of getting the kids. So I really don't know how one goes about getting picked for it. Once in a while, we do one of these in Enfield, but mostly they are in New York City, Chicago, places like that. 36(New York, eh?)
3710) Can you reveal the nature of the upcoming Bionicle Brickmaster contest? I'm going to join the club, and would like to know if I should join in October or wait for Christmas.
38It's a building and essay contest -- I can't say more than that because it would be giving unfair advantage away to BZP members. But it is similar to the Rahi contest with different subject matter. 39(I really need to get a Brickmaster subscription, but I'm pretty broke. Um. . . Vote the Lava Cougar in the BBC 22 Grand Finals: Wow - that was pretty shameless.)
4011) The making of disks confuses me, I regret to say. I was originally under the impression that it was about proportions. I'll try to explain it in the simplest way possible - let a letter represent a power, and a number represent the level.
41So the Vahi was made from A9B9C9D9E9F9. That makes a level nine disk of time. Lovely. But then why wouldn't A8B8C8D8E8F8 make a "great disk" of time? And A7B7C7D7E7F7 a "noble disk"? Using the analogy of making a cake with different ingredient proportions, all of those would come out tasting the same - just different sizes.
42Similarly, about the chart you gave us (which I love: Thanks: :D ), it says that Shielding is Growth plus Regeneration disks. But what if they were all level 6, or all level 9. Would they come out having different powers, or would they both be shielding disks on different levels?
43First, no, having six level 8 disks is not going to get you a disk of time. A disk of time can only exist at power level 9. 44Second, mixing level 6 growth and regeneration is going to get you shielding; level 7, shielding; level 8, shielding. With the exception of time, changing the power level of the disks is not going to change the power you get as a result. 45(Explain that, S&Ters:)
4612) If is says Growth Regeneration disks = Mask of Shielding, then does that mean two regeneration disks and one growth disk are used?
47No -- one disk plus one disk equals "disks" 48(So then some masks are made from the same disks? Perhaps the order they're blended determines it.)
4913) Masks made from disks on level 7 are Noble and ones made from disks on level 8 are Great. Is there a term for masks made from level nine disks? In my storyline I use the term "Legendary."
50At present, no, because the only mask ever so made was the Mask of Time.
5114) Supposedly Vahi is dangerous because you're messing with the fabric of time. But Vahi only slows it down. Teleportation, according to most semi-reasonable scientific explanations, involves folding and in a sense puncturing the space "fabric" like shown below. 52user posted image 53So isn't teleportation theoretically more distorting and possibly dangerous than slowing time?
54Not to my mind, no. My idea of teleportation comes from Star Trek. Far less dangerous than possibly tampering with the flow of history. 55(But Vahi only slows time - you can't time travel with it. You could just as easily (more easily) argue that teleportation would better let you affect history.)
56- - - -
57And there they were.
58Apparently nobody reads my posts in this topic, either. Please - it would be very kind of anyone to format their questions. I have short-term memory loss, so by the time I've scrolled to the answer I've often forgotten the question. I don't want to get Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, so. . . yeah.
59EDITED because I forgot to bold a piece of question after a quote. Kudos to Tok for catching it.

1... 214) Supposedly Vahi is dangerous because you're messing with the fabric of time. But Vahi only slows it down. Teleportation, according to most semi-reasonable scientific explanations, involves folding and in a sense puncturing the space "fabric" like shown below. 3user posted image 4So isn't teleportation theoretically more distorting and possibly dangerous than slowing time?
5Not to my mind, no. My idea of teleportation comes from Star Trek. Far less dangerous than possibly tampering with the flow of history. 6(But Vahi only slows time - you can't time travel with it. You could just as easily (more easily) argue that teleportation would better let you affect history.) 7....

8To elaborate on Greg's answer, Pekel, in Star Trek what happens with transportation is that the atoms of a person, object, whatever, are "dematerialized" that is, since matter can be converted to energy and back, according to Einstein's theories, the atoms are converted to energy, which is then transmitted (coded to the right pattern), sorta like a laser (this is a simplified explanation... it's a "beam" which is where the phrase "Beam me up, Scotty:" came from ;)). At the destination site, the energy is then transformed back into matter, in the right order, right place, etc.
9There's no messing with space-time at all; it is purely matter/energy transfer. That's why the Teleportation Kanoka's effects, I think, were described as "sparkly"; if you watch a transporter beam on the show, it appears like lotsa sparkling points of light appear throughout the person as they fade away.
10The kind of transportation you were talking about is what in "A Wrinkle in Time" is called a "tesseract." Bending space so that the person can just walk across. That requires you to be able to manipulate the space-time continuum; that material, while the Star Trek method doesn't mess with it at all; it's no more dangerous in that regard than a chemical reaction or a lightbulb. Just matter converting to energy, kinda like the energy that's released in chemical (or nuclear or antimatter) reactions, or how electron energy becomes photons in a light bulb.
11:)

12Edit: Ooooh.. Greg has posted some neat tidbits about his theory about the Toa Olda's origin... 13I'll slap in a Spoiler Warning... not that it's really all that needed....
14Spoiler Warning:

15My own personal theory is that the Toa Olda were not Matoran, and I believe that is part of the reason the Turaga did not trust them with their secrets. They did not fully believe they could rely on Toa who had never "walked in a Matoran's shoes" to have the understanding of what they had been through and what they had lost.
16Remember, the Matoran practically treated the Toa Olda like gods when they came to Mata Nui -- and the Olda let them. But of all beings, the Turaga know Toa are NOT gods -- they are fallible mortal beings.
17So my theory (based a little on stuff you don't know, mostly on stuff you do) is that the Toa Olda were always Toa and they were intended to awaken Mata Nui should that ever be necessary. When Mata Nui was condemned to slumber by Makuta, their time to act came. Unfortunately, something went wrong and they wound up in the ocean for 1000 years.
18Again, this is my own belief -- there is nothing in a story bible one way or the other. But until I hear differently from the rest of the team, it is the theory I am working from.
19Greg

1GregF , can you provide me any info at all about this silver guy ? :>>>SilverGuy<<< Any answer to this will be appreciated. 2~DP~

3Sorry, don't have that info. That figure is a prototype to the best of my knowledge and I do not know which character it is supposed to be.

4It appears he doesn't have any information about the Silvery-bionicle thing on bohrokwill's 2005 Set topic thing . I think the Silver-guy might be some new addition to cast of good-characters. ^_^ 5~DP~
#2314
1But wouldn't the Star Trek teleportation need a receptor to reassemble the atoms? Same way you can't fax someone who doesn't have a fax machine, even if you do.
2And technically that isn't even teleportation - the person is killed and reassembled. It's not them, but a carbon copy. Tesseracts are the only possible actual teleportation explanation that I know of.
#2315
1DIABLO PRIME.. don't you find it strange that LEGO would create a set and GregF doesn't know who it is surpose to be. Seeing that I think he writes and creates the characters since he writes the novels and the characters are based off the descriptions of GregF characters (I think) ANd even he doesn't know who that silver guy is.. I find that EXTREMELY strange

3Well, sometimes they beam to a receptor transporter pad, but usually what happens is the same beam that dematerializes you reaches out to the destination, and also does the re-materialization. That's why they have such a limited range; it can only beam a few tens of miles away.
4And the Star Trek method doesn't kill you, BTW, you are alive and consious all the time that you're in the "matter stream," because your energy does not lose its pattern at all throughout the whole thing. Basically, it changes you into a different form; it doesn't actually take you apart. Changes you into an energy form that is more easily sent out to a different place.

5Mata-Nui-ologist, Greg has always said he doesn't make the set decisions; the set designers do, he often doesn't see a set for a while, even after they've approved the final design. He does writing mainly, not set designing or choosing. ;) As I understand it.

1[quoteGregF Oct 20 2004 03:42 AM(GregF @ Oct 20 2004 03:42 AM)He was a Toa -- that was confirmed by the head of the story team when I was in Denmark in September. However, to my knowledge, the Visorak have nothing to do with how he looks -- had they been involved, he would be a Hordika and probably completely Rahi by now, without the intelligence he obviously has.

3So it's been confirmed, Nidhiki was a Toa. YAY: Nidhiki rocks:

5EDIT: The topic I got the quote from, I forget the name.

1This has been confirmed a long time ago. I asked Greg if they will give us a hint how he became like that and the answer was "maybe, but not in 2005" He was definately Toa of Air, because he can fly. On the info how Lhikan looks, I made up a theory how Nidhiki looks. 2-eyes: Red (Lhikan has the same eye colour as Vakama, so Nidhiki must have the same as Matau) 3-half-green, half-gold (as Lhikan: half-red, half-gold) 4-Gold Kanohi Miru in a new look

1Bonesiii.....Well I have read everything BIONICLE related that GregF does... I know that he doesn't design the sets.. and I know he does the writing.
2WHat I am saying is I find it strange that he doesn't know what that set might be . I mean I am sure the designers use his descriptions to design the sets. I mean I dont' think the sets designers dictate the storyline.. i can't see them saying.. ooh yeah put a all silver guy in your storyline... I think it is viceversia... So that is why I find it strange that he doesn't know who that charact might be
